“Best grilled chicken !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Gwen's is a must in Anguilla! The barbecue chicken is to die for and served with her fresh homemade coleslaw and curry potato salad. On Sundays the Scratch band plays it is fun all afternoon long, dance after you eat and chill out to the beautiful view!

“Relaxing day with great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I found Gwen's on trip advisor and my boyfriend and I took a $42 (roundtrip) ferry from St Maarten to visit Anguilla. We took a $26 cab ride (each way) from the ferry port straight to Gwen's. We had a yummy lunch (I had a ribs - the waiter recommended). The ribs for $17 - kinda pricey but came with coleslaw and fries and yummy potato salad. After our meal, the waiter put out the hammock for us and we relaxed. I took a little snooze and my boyfriend snorkeled (we brought our own gear). The water is beautiful. The cab driver was floored when he saw the natural erosion and how much the beach has shrunk. I thought it was very pretty.

“Sunday's Best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

We headed over to Gwen's on Sunday around 3:00. Locals and reviews on this site led us to Gwen's. We weren't quite sure what to expect, but we walked right into a pretty solid party. The place was busy, but not packed. I would say that the food is average. The rum punch is incredibly strong and good. The service is slow. The atmosphere is energetic/local and very fun. All walks of tourists, locals, kids, elderly, etc. are eventually dancing along to the live band (at one point who broke into a a reggae version of Sweet Caroline). We had a lot of fun here soaking up the atmosphere and watching the day go by. Sunday is music day on the Island. We were debating at great length where to go and are VERY happy that we chose Gwen's. We would DEFINITELY come back and would HIGHLY recommend this experience to others. One note I would add is that as the day goes on, the "parking lot" gets incredibly hectic. When we left, cars were strewn all over the place and many people were blocked in. I would pull a "Clark Griswald" and park where you can easily get out when you arrive.

“Great grilled fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We walked to Gwen's from the other end of Shoal Bay - try it! Work up an appetite for the fresh-off-the-grill chicken. Great setting - the porch practically dangles over the water. It was windy the day we were there, and yes, we could feel the sea spray! The portion was huge. It was not the best service we experienced during our visit to the island. All in all, the food was good, but we probably wouldn't go back - at least, not on the next visit. Maybe on our 3rd or 4th trip!

“Go On A Sunday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

On a Sunday Gwen's have a great live reggae band. Even if this isn't your normal choice of music, the atmosphere is fantastic and the view over the sea is that typical Caribbean seascape.
