“Breathtaking Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2010

Just took my first trip to Anguilla and stayed at Carimar for 4 nights. I am used to staying at all-inclusive resorts, so this was a big change for me. Well, I absolutely loved it! I needed the quiet, simple life for a few days and Carimar is just the place. It sits on beautiful Meads Bay and all I can say is that when you are wading in the water, you would swear you were in a pool! It's that clean and clear!! There are no rocks, seaweed or anything for as far as you can see! You will find small shells and nice pieces of white coral, which I collected daily. There are great restaurants within walking distance, but we found it best to rent a car (only $40/day). I highly recommend eating at Blanchards! Best meal of my life! Also nearby is Lucy's. She is very sweet and her food is very, very good! If you rent a car, make your way over to Crocus Bay and enjoy at day at Da Vida. You can have lunch, use their beach and snorkel all day for $5. I found Carimar to be like a home away from home, but much more beautiful! To me, they have the best beach in Anguilla!

We are spending our last night here at the Carimar and since I love and value Tripadvisor I thought I would give my feedback while it is fresh...

After searching on Tripadvisor and coming across the Carimar I thought it looked perfect. The pictures looked great and the price was right. We opted for the honeymoon package as it offered a car rental for two days, 2 One hour massages and a dinner at one of the local restaurants. This package was great.

When we arrived we were greeted getting out of the cab and assisted to our room by one of the lovely office ladies. Our bags were brought to our room as well and from there we were given a tour of the unit and given an overview of the services they offer.

What a view!!!! who needs a pool when you have Mead's Bay at your doorstep. We found the unit #602 to be so nice and clean. It was perfect... I believe all the units are 2 bedroom and they just lock one unit off if you only need one. The bedrooms have air conditioning and the main area has 3 fans to try and cool you down. The beachfront unit we were in had a nice big deck with a table and chairs as well as two loungers. The beach had loungers and umbrellas for your use and we never had a problem of getting any.

The front desk staff are amazing! They are there to help you out and you get some real Caribbean hospitality. They have all the Restaurant menus for you to go through and they will book it for you! Free snorkel gear and noodles for floating! A clubhouse across the street with ping pong table and FREE LAUNDRY MACHINES for your use. Tennis courts as well. Daily maid service was so nice and the place was spotless.

After traveling around Anguilla we would have to say Mead's Bay is the nicest beach and the Carimar is the best bang for your buck and much deserving of it's ranking on Tripadvisor!

My husband and I stayed at the Carimar Beach Club from 7/11-7/18, 2010. We flew into St Maarten, took the ferry from St Martin and were in Anguilla in about 20 minutes. The Carimar is about 15 minutes from the Blowing Point ferry terminal. When we arrived at the Carimar, we were met by the gracious staff members Laverne and Laverne. Check in was a breeze and one of the Lavernes escourted us to our villa. Our stay at the Carimar was for our anniversary and the entire staff, including the manager Fred, were just so incredibly lovely (they gave us a beautiful anniversary card and bouquet of flowers in our room the day of our anniversary). We were on the patio level which was perfect - you walked right on to the path out to the spectacular Meads Bay beach. The Carimar had a complimentary bottle of rum waiting in the room and beautiful fresh flowers all over the villa. There is a charming living room area (with a full library of books and TV), eating area, newly renovated full kitchen (with complimentary bottle of water, utensils, glasses, dishes, pans, etc), 2 large bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms. The maids came daily and the rooms were always immaculate. Whatever you want at the Carimar, they will get it for you. They even have rental cars right there at the resort. They had noodles to float on at the beach, tennis courts, and washer & dryer in the building across from the villas. There are superb restaurants are at the nearby resorts and Christines (a little grocery store) is within walking distance and perfect for anything you need to stock the villa with (water. soda, wine, beer, snacks, etc). The beach was so unbelievably gorgeous - soft white sand, warm clear calm water, no crowds; it was paradise! Each night we would fall to sleep listening to the ocean waves plus the bed was so comfortable it was the best sleep we have had in years! Each morning we would walk along Meads Bay and every day we would lounge on the beach - it was seriously the most wonderful, relaxing and rejuvenating vacation we have ever had. The Carimar is definitely a hidden jewel and we plan on going back to the Carimar as soon as possible!

While on St. Maarten, we love to slip away to Anguilla for a few days for the change of pace that the quieter island offers. For this visit, we tried Carimar Beach Club due to the close proximity to several quality restaurants, the beautiful beach, and the inviting outside terraces or balconies for reading. It was all that was advertised, and more. The staff was friendly and responsive. The internet connection was fast and reliable, which we really appreciate. One night we decided to stay in and were surprised by the delicious and fast delivery of dinner from Un Amore Cafe that was recommended by the front desk.

We spent eight nights at Carimar Beach Club. We were in unit #602, which was ground level beachfront right on beautiful Mead's Bay.

Carimar fit our style perfectly. Our unit featured a full kitchen so we were able to cook a few meals and reheat leftovers. We never ate breakfast out. A clubhouse across the street features a ping-pong table, a computer with Internet access, and laundry facilities (used 3-4 times). There were tennis courts next to the clubhouse (which we intended to use but never did) and grills for cooking out if you are so inclined. Staff was friendly and helpful every step of the way. Carimar supplied us with a complimentary pistol of Mount Gay rum upon our arrival, which was a nice touch.

Bedrooms at Carimar are air-conditioned and there is a small flatscreen Television in the living room. We would have preferred to have had the TV, along with a DVD player, in the master bedroom, but we made do. I would suggest installing a second TV in the master bedroom and mounting it up on the wall. This isn't a criticism; just a matter of preference for those of us who enjoy watching TV in bed while winding down in the evenings. Not a big deal and certainly wouldn't prevent us from returning.

There was enough to keep us occupied for a few days right around Carimar so we put off renting a car until the third day of our stay. We didn’t really save money by doing this since the weekly rate is a better deal per day than the daily rate. Carimar is actually an agent for Island Car Rentals so renting a car is hassle-free. You can complete all the necessary paperwork and purchase the temporary license at Carimar’s front office. Rental cars are kept on-site. This process takes all of 15 minutes. I can’t imagine a better alternative for Carimar guests.

There are several dining options within walking distance either direction along the beach. There is also a small grocery store (Christine's) up the hill to the east within walking distance. The store featured a decent selection and everything we needed for breakfast (eggs, bread, milk, fresh fruit). Also stocked up on snacks and drinks (Carib, Ting and punch). They had pre-made burger patties and hot dogs. Prices are marked in EC, but the clerk will convert to US at the register. US is roughly one-third of EC.

Families with kids may enjoy taking them next door to Malliouhana for the day. You can pay $25 per child for a full day's access to the resort's waterpark, playground and pool. While the Malliouhana staff didn't make us feel especially welcome -- for whatever reason -- our kids had an absolute blast, though, so money well spent for sure.

We would strongly recommend Carimar Beach Club to anyone planning on visiting Anguilla. We found it to be a good value on a beautiful Caribbean island.

We stayed at Carimar for 10 days in July 2010, and found it to be beautiful, immaculately maintained, and staffed by wonderful, hospitable folks. Most days, we had the beach practically to ourselves- and boy, what a beach it was. Meads Bay has calm, crystal clear waters with fine, powdery sand.
Our beachfront 1-bedroom was maybe 50 steps to the water's edge with a nice, private patio where we could sit outside and enjoy meals and just watch the ships go by in the distance. The unit was exceptionally clean, with a brand new kitchen stocked with all the dishes, utensils, pots, pans and other implements we needed.
On our second night, we had to make an emergency trip to the hospital because our infant daughter was running a high fever. The staff was very helpful in calling a cab for us urgently, and made sure to check up on her condition the next morning. We thought that was a really thoughtful gesture. The housekeeping staff was also very understanding about the inconvenience we imposed on them by asking them to refrain from cleaning the room in the late morning while our daughter took her nap. This usually meant that they had to skip our room and come back later in the day, which we're sure interrupted their normal routine, but they were very, very nice about it.
They also provided us with a high chair and an infant bath tub at no extra charge.
Overall, we found Carimar to be a great value for Anguilla (which tends to be pricey in general). While it lacks some of the big resort amenities like a restaurant, bar, pool, tennis courts, etc., it more than makes up for it in location, service and price. We also really appreciated having access to free laundry facilities on site.
It's truly a charming little gem. Would definitely go back.

We were at the Carimar from July 3rd to 10th for our first trip to Anguilla. Wonderful experience. Great room, beach and staff.
Took the GB Express over from St. Martin and Ronnie had our car waiting for us. We dropped it off at the airport as we flew to San Juan and home to BWI.
Remember to get in the customs line on the far left at St. Martin's airport. Much shorter than those staying on the island.
Had a great day on the Chocolate cattamaran trip.
Ate at Blanchards, Jacala, Ferry Boat Inn, and Barrel Stay. Had two meals at Un Amore, just up the road on the right. Good food, nice people. Ask the owner, Christine, for tips on the island. She'll talk and talk and mark everything on the map.
Is says a lot about an island, when it's almost impossible to find a tee shirt to purchase. My kind of place!
