“Great hotel but not amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

My bf and I stayed at the Viceroy recently for a few days. I had read so much about this property in different travel magazines that it was a must go. I also had friends that stayed at this hotel when it first opened and they raved about it. The property itself is spectacular, the design and décor is very contemporary and chic. That gets 5 stars. The rooms are beautifully appointed, views amazing we had a junior suite with a plunge pool. The sheets were a bit rough and our bed had a hole in the middle but not everything is perfect. The service is impeccable and on point very rare on an island. I give the service 5 stars. Sunset Lounge was a great place to have a drink and relax, the food was ok not great. Coba was actually a big disappointment in terms of the food. Again the décor and the location on the property was amazing and the service was great too. Food not so much it was very bland and tasteless.

I had made arrangements for spa appointments with the hotel prior to my arrival. I specified that I wanted a couples massage and couples facial. I was assured in the email that it was all taken care of. When we arrived at the spa only one facial appointment was made and the attendant made no effort to try and accommodate me for the other treatment.

Overall it was a nice relaxing weekend in a great hotel just a few little minor inconveniences. A note to anyone traveling to Anguilla DO NOT fly LIAT airlines. Fly to St. Maarten and take the ferry.

My husband and I traveled to the viceroy for a few nights at the recommendation of a friend.

What delightful recommendation - I hadn't felt such tranquility and beauty since our honeymoon in Bora Bora.

We stayed in a one bedroom and loved the plunge pool. The rooms were spacious and really let us relax.

The resort does a fantastic job of incorporating the local aesthetic of the island into the property and it really feels like you are part of a surreal community not a hotel. With this backdrop it's easy to fall in love with the resort.

The staff is quite friendly and eager to accommodate to any needs. Definitely spend time at the bar by the pool in front of the hotel - the service and sushi are second to none.

They've also got a wonderful boutique with a great assortment designers (something so rare at the resorts I've been to) staffed by knowledgeable and friendly people. I was sure to pick up a few goodies before I left :)

Bottom line: Highly recommend this hotel, it's one of the finer properties we've stayed at.

Thank you for your kind words. We definitely strive to provide our guests with a unique experience - something that Anguilla's azure waters help ensure. We're happy that we helped provide a nice escape closer to home, with great service and sushi!

My husband and I just returned from an Anguilla / St Martin honeymoon. We spent 6 nights in Anguilla at the Viceroy. The property is so gorgeous and lush. The service is outstanding. The hotel is not cheap but it is worth it. The sunset lounge has great drinks and sushi with an amazing view. Coba restaurant is ok, it's gorgeous with great service but the food is average. The island has some great resturaunts to check out. There is not a whole lot of action and activities at the hotel which is fine if that is what you are looking for. We used the fitness center everyday and I did thespian class twice which was great and an awesome way to start the day. The gym could use universal machine but its still great. The staff is so friendly and dry helpful. We received an upgrade upon check in. We got to our room which had a private plunge pool and a bottle of proseco waiting for us with light snacks. I thought that was a nice personal touch. One thing that I loved was the complimentary water bottles throughout the resort. Staff brought them to guests in a chilled bucket on Ice everytime we sat down. I loved this !! I hope to return to the viceroy in the future to relax and unwind again !!

Thank you for choosing to spend your honeymoon at Viceroy Anguilla. We're very happy you had a great stay. Anguilla's known as a foodie paradise, with great restaurants both on and off-property. There's no better way than to unwind after a lazy day in the sun than by enjoying sushi and cocktails at Sunset Lounge. We also hope this is the first of many stays with us!

My wife and I have never stayed at the same resort twice. Until now. And it was so worth it. From the pools to the beach to the lavish rooms, if Downton Abbey were in the Caribbean, than this is where it would be (You can just see Lord Grantham walking Isis down the beach every morning). And the food is by far better than most restaurants on the island. I mean, the idea that the best sushi I've had in awhile comes from Anguilla is pretty cray cray (and I'm in NYC)! So don't waste your time people, plan a stay at Viceroy Anguilla. You may have to save up a little or cut back on your weekly Powerball tickets, but it's worth it.

We're always happy to hear from repeat guests and are glad that we've been able to provide you with consistently great stays. There's no better way to end a day than at the Sunset Lounge, watching the sun set over the tranquil azure waters while enjoying sushi and cocktails. Now that's paradise! We know we'll see you again soon.

This is our second visit to this property. The first time, my wife and i went. This time we took our 21 year old triplets. This property is a 6 star property. The place is simply unbelievable.

Staff is wonderful, weather in anguilla is SO much better than on st martin even though they are only 30 minutes away from each other).

Richard Alexander is the manager at the Viceroy. We had had a room problem last time we were there. He made sure that there was zero issue and even graciously welcomed us back with champagne and a complimentary room upgrade. A not so little touch that goes long way to show these guys mean business.

Room Tip: If you have a family, the Villas were without a doubt the nicest room i have ever stayed in. the v...

The Great:
This resort is GEORGEOUS. You will not find a more stunning property anywhere. The staff is wonderful. Especially Collin at the front desk. Collin was extremely helpful and friendly at all times and I hope the Manager recognizes that value this employee bring to his staff.

The Not So Good:
There was a LARGE wedding occurring at the time of our stay which caused management to make certain areas of the property, including the main beach, breakfast location, sunset lounge and others "unavailable" to the rest of the guests. In my opinion they handled this very poorly and did not compensate us in anyway. They did not even "step up their game" in the remaining areas to enhance our experience in the restricted space that was left.

Check your bill carefully prior to leaving. We found several errors on our bill but thankfully Collin, identified them proactively and helped to get it cleared up.

I would recommend this location but would advise that you ask if there are any functions planned during your anticipated stay and plan accordingly. I would have came a different week had I known all the restrictions placed on us during this week.

We apologize for any inconveniences you experienced during your stay. We try to minimize the impact events have on our non-event guests. We are, however, happy that you enjoyed your stay at our beautiful property. Colin is a valued member of our staff. We will be sure to share your kind words with him!

This was our second time staying at the Viceroy and it continues to impress. We stayed in a 1br residence. We brought our baby with us and setup a crib in the living room. Only negatives are that the sliding doors cannot be completely covered so want to make sure you are on west side to avoid early morning baby wake up. Also the cribs have a bit of a mushy mattress which should be avoided for small babies.

Room itself was very spacious with a great kitchenette, 1.5 bathroom. Deck was amazing with a nice mini pool and plenty of furniture to lounge outside.

The hotel itself is fantastic and a great place to bring a family.
