“Wonderful Birthday Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

We stayed at the Bank Villa for my birthday. We upgraded to the superior room and the room was lovely and the bed enormous! The room was so clean and even had a little welcome bag with a lovely poem. It was my birthday and Liz and Graham left me a card and a bottle of Buck's Fizz.
The breakfast was fabulous the best scrambled egg and smoked salmon I have eaten they use all local suppliers to.
We ate at the black sheep brewery on the Saturday evening and a really lovely meal I would recommend going and it is about a minute walk back!
Liz and Graham are fantastic hosts and we will definitely be returning thank you to you both for making my birthday weekend so lovely.

Arriving at Bank Villa you will first notice that the door is flanked by two sheep statues wearing bright yellow jerseys. At this point you will realise that you have arrived at an accommodation with a certain character. Bank Villa is a Grade 2 listed building with parts of the building dating back to 1789. Liz and Graham have achieved a combination of tasteful decoration in sympathy with the character of the building combined with 21st century facilities (bathrooms/flat screen TVs), and it works very well. This, combined with the Yorkshire friendliness of the owners makes Bank Villa a world apart from the corporate hotels of the national chains. We arrived for the Masham Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally during the hottest part of the summer this year. At breakfast my wife commented that the room was rather warm (being at the top of the house) and asked if an electric fan was available. Although they didn’t have one at the time, one was “magic’d” for the following evening, this is typical of the service at Bank Villa. Others on this site have reviewed the breakfasts at Bank Villa, I have only one comment to add, that the scrambled egg is absolutely first class.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for highlighting the scrambled egg for a special mention! The scrambled egg and smoked salmon is very popular as a lighter alternative to the full 'Deliciously Yorkshire' breakfast.
The 'Lost sheep' in 'Yellow Jerseys' is a celebration of both sheep in the Dales and the Tour de France which is passing us next July. Hope you found lots more 'Lost sheep' and entered the competition!
Thanks for your review.
We look forward to meeting you all again soon. Remember to book early for Steam Rally week end!

I think you would be hard pushed to find somewhere better to stay in the wonderful location of Masham. Bank Villa is a superb B&B.

The beautiful building is located in heart of Masham, just a few minutes walk from the idyllic village centre, where independent shops and quaint pubs are scattered around the peaceful picturesque square. The accommodation at Bank Villa is very relaxed, friendly and comfortable. The rooms themselves are spotless and contain everything you would expect from a 4 star rated home from home. As a bonus, the must visit Black Sheep brewery is within blurry eyed staggering distance, no need for a taxi as it's almost in their pretty back garden.

Liz & Graham are fantastic hosts. Funny, warm, friendly and very courteous. We were celebrating a (BIG) birthday and Liz added some nice touches which was very much appreciated.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Masham, however, if you stay at Bank Villa we would highly recommend having dinner in the B&B one night as the food is excellent (try the mushroom blue cheese crumble starter!) and reasonable priced for the quality. All the food Liz cooks is locally sourced, fresh and delicious. The breakfast at Bank Villa is plentiful and will probably see you through until dinner!

Having never really spent much time in North Yorkshire, we will be back and Bank Villa will certainly be our choice of accommodation to explore more of Masham and the surrounding area.

Thank you Liz & Graham for a perfect weekend!!

I stay in Masham regularly and this positively the best accommodation available. Very clean and well appointed rooms, the welcome is excellent. I was part of a group and unfortunately one of our guests had problems and had to cancel with little notice. The owner juggled the rooms to minimise the issue and laughed this off with a smile; thanks. If you are visiting North Yorkshire make this your base, you cant go wrong.

We were on a brewery tour to the Black Sheep brewery, just around the corner so ideal. We will definitely be back.

Despite turning up unannounced and very early they we fantastic and turning our room round in record time. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The icing on the cake was the breakfast which really sets you up for the day ahead.
Really enjoyed our short stay and would definitely recommend Bank Villa to anyone looking to stay in the area

Room Tip: The two rooms I saw on the top floor were both finished to an excellent standard

Very comfortable, clean and warm welcome. Very pleasant room and tasty breakfasts (do not miss out on the sausage and black pudding). Liz and Graham have long experience in the hospitality business and it shows in the attention to small details.

Have never stayed anywhere before with 3 separate areas in which guests can relax - TV lounge, conservatory and a sitting room with books available to buy in return for a contribution in a charity box.

Plenty of tourist literature available and additional help from Liz and Graham when required.

We stayed here for our anniversary and what a treat. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean as was the whole place. We were greeted as we arrived by a very happy and helpful Liz. She showed us the TV lounge, the reading lounge with books that we could buy if we wished and there was a charity box for the money. Reading lounge very comfortable. Then this went into the large conservatory with very comfortable seats. We had a lovely relaxing read in there before moving into the reading lounge. Just bliss because if we were at home we would never find the time to sit and read, there would always be something to do.
Room was excellent, lovely hostess tray with biscuits and a bottle of water. Note to say if we needed any further supplies to just ask which was very considerate.

Bed was very comfortable, as were the 2 armchairs in the room. Usually the armchairs in rooms tend to be a bit uncomfortable but these were brilliant. The shower was great, lovely fluffy towels. Liz supplies Bayliss and Harding toiletries for the bathroom which is very good.
There was an inbuilt CD/DVD player in the TV, how cool is that. Some CD's also supplied, very kind and considerate.
Breakfast was delicious, locally sourced food, very tasty. Graham was very friendly and chatty in fact both our hosts were very pleasant, helpful, informative people and it was a pleasure to be staying with them.
Their home is a lovely Georgian House which is very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated.
It was a pleasure to stay in this Guest House and we would not hesitate to recommend it to our family and friends and we do intend to stay again if we wish to stay in that part of the area.
Well done Liz and Graham you are perfect hosts!
