“New and marble, though desert a bit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2010

We spent part of our honeymoon in Deluxe room in this hotel.
Glad that we pre-ordered the room, as pricing seems to be higher than it deserves currently. Let me explain what I mean: the hotel itself is spacious, well-done and "5 star" quality, can't argue with that. There are 2 things, however, that spoil the perfect facing: villas in front of the hotel that are still to be furnished, and prices in in-hotel restaurants.
The service was very good, though I was suprised that sometimes when we actually set up "don't bother" sign, some servicemen knocked _and entered_ the room to fill in the bar.
To sum up - great beach, good location, high quality rooms with a room for improvement from service, villas furbishing and restaurant menus.

Dear Guests,

We are delighted to inform you that on April 1 the Kempinski Hotel Adriatic reopened again after a seasonal winter closure during which a new glazing flair has been given to the hotel. The closure time was used to renovate the property and improve the standards of services in order to reach the expectations of the guests and rise “from good to best” in all segments

Mr Konstantin Zeuke, the new General Manager of the Hotel, is leading his team in a mission to create a higher level of service and quality. One of his first steps was to improve the number, efficiency, skills and knowledge of the staff through extensive trainings and by sending part of the staff to some of the most established Kempinski properties, as the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The newcomers Mr Igor Futivic, F&B Manager, and Mr Serafin Koutni, Executive Chef, are providing a new impetus and creativity to the F&B Department. The Dijana restaurant is offering Mediterranean specialties, truffles and local dishes, while the Kanova restaurant, in typical Istrian style, received for the second year in a row the plaquette of excellency, joining that way the exclusive selection of restaurants allowed to serve the meat of the autochthonous Istrian beef boskarin. Besides the offer of the two mentioned restaurants and three bars, our guests can experience the tasting of local wines, pure virgin olive oil sorts, traditional grappa and other products. The hotel offers special truffle hunting packages together with experienced truffle hunters and their dogs.

Renewed and with fresh forces, the Kempinski Hotel Adriatic and its staff are looking forward to welcome you and to make your Adriatic experience unforgettable!

Best regards

After many experience- all hotel categories over the world- we cannot recomand this hotel. We spent 7 days there.
Check-in: we must wait for bellboy/lagguage service, (arrive 2:30 p.m.) and nobody more in enter hall...he dosnt speak English, slow check-in(they have all needed information before our arriving), no enquiry to allergies, personal prefers, children cot etc., no welcome drink. Non-problem car parking by crew, nice and delicous welcome sweet plate in the room.
Gastronomy : absolutelly not for 5 stars hotel, overpriced, few local ingredients only, poor menu etc. Better restaurants are in Umag (5 min by car), for quickly lunch is fine restaurant near the hotel(250 m right from hotel)
Room: new, clean, big differences in housekeeping service, one day excellent, all bed linen new, excellent cleaning etc, second day like from another *** hotel, mess on the floor, dirty wine/water glasses etc. Pillow parfum first night for better sleeping, nice and quallity(Molton Brown). Any room equipment dosnt work(mirror LCD in bathroom),staff say that dosnt work in whole hotel, information on their web are NOT CORRECT...First sea view room was with some isolation defect (water from roof), staff know it (leave room when we enter) and dont say anythink. We change this room in 10 p.m., next room was fine, better sea view.
Outside pool: one from 2 pools was heated, quite and sunny area, no way or lift for pram/wheelchair(steps are wide, not problem made it!), staff helped with pram only one time, pool bar-not for 5 stars hotel...Two hote tubes, but any nozzles dosnt work.Hotel private beach-5 min walk, lift, beach bar+towells OK.
Free Wi-Fi in all rooms+pool are.
Check-out:very quickly, water bottles to journey available by bellboy, help with lagguage(manager stay near).

We arrived at the hotel lobby and there was no greeting. We waited around our car hoping to get some help with our luggage to no avail. After waiting for about ten minutes we were able to get the attention of the front desk.
On checking in, a big fuss was made as we were advised that we had been given a complimentary room upgrade - however we were just given the two rooms we'd already paid for, Deluxe rooms with a sea view.
The website misrepresents several aspects of the hotel.
The hotel advertised 3 restaurants, when in fact there was only one open. - the Diana restaurant was operating with a limited menu in the hotel, the Kanova restaurant was not open and the Slice restaurant was in another location.
The website noted that there were mountain bikes available and on requesting bikes for our family we found there were none for children.
One of the key attractions was that there was a kids club - the kids club was not open and there were no child carers to allow us to leave our younger children at the kids club. The kids club was the main reason we chose this hotel
The bed linen was not changed every day - only once or twice during our 5 night stay
There was dripping water continuously falling onto the balcony so we could not sit on the balcony and at the same time the glass was coated with a white film of calcium from the dripping water spoiling the sea view
The pool bar was closed on occasions and glasses and full ashtrays were left around tables on poolside, used towels were not removed nor were dry towels available. There was no poolside service as you would expect in a 5 star - you had to order and collect drinks at the bar and there was no food available.
The beach was only opened on the last day of our stay, and the fresh fruit platters and snacks mentioned on the website were not available
The air conditioning did not work in the gym, there was water leaking into the room and the walls were all mouldy.
On checking out we were rushing to get to the airport and I had asked the front desk to print out our bill - this was not done and it took about twenty minutes to get the invoice. The restaurant food was awful - and very overpriced for the quality.
The views were magnificent and the beach clean and very picturesque and one of the staff (Marko) was excellent, but I would not stay at this hotel again or recommend it - particularly if you enjoy good food or are expecting a 5 star experience. You'd be very disappointed.

If the amount of marble would qualify as a Luxury Hotel – the Kempinski Savudija would be.

But the hotel lacks what really makes a Luxury hotel – Charm! It’s just a conglomerate of stone, tiles, marble and wood... but nothing else. How to say, it’s nice, clean, opulent, a lot of glass – but nothing special at all. At such kind of 5* hotels I’ve to stay all year long – when travelling for business.

The location of the hotel is, too be nice, remote. Without a car you’re just lost. To reach the nice restaurants you’ve to drive min. 30 minutes on quite narrow roads. If you like to enjoy Istrian wine, forget it: when you drive you’ve to have 0.0!

The rooms are nice, the Junior Suite we had a decent size even it doesn’t offer a 2nd toilet. TV/phone etc. are easy to use and do not need any explanation as previous reviewers wrote. Don’t get me wrong, everything is 5* - but nothing special. Be aware of Upgrades: our sea-view Deluxe has been upgraded to a park-view Junior Suite.

Take the breakfast: everything is there, the egg-station, the smoked salmon, the salami, the cheese selection, the Muesli... but it’s pretty much standard what you get at a 4* - 5* business hotel in Sydney, Seoul, Buenos Aires, Vancouver... For outside seating you maybe have to wait a while such as for the eggs or the coffee. I didn’t like mini-dogs of some guest sitting on the cushion of the armchair – and the staff said nothing.

The pool is fine, again nothing special and nothing to complain about. The beach is a bit away and you’ve to walk down the streets of the apartment/villa part of the complex. There’re no trees and for older people it might be a bit too steep... The (stone) beach itself is – nothing special. It’s too small for the size of the hotel and there weren’t enough deck chairs (they brought some additional after guest complained). There’s a beach bar where you’ve got to go to order. At a 5* hotel (not even Luxury Hotel) I expect that there’s a waiter going around, asking what to serve. In case you want to swim you shouldn’t forget to bring beach shoes since without the stones just hurt.

In the late afternoon you might sit at the terrace, have a drink and enjoy a book and the view. But at around 8 pm there’s a guy with a keyboard playing old songs. It’s not Lounge-style, it’s not Buddha Bar, it’s not Frank Sinatra or the Rat-Pack, it’s more un-cool hits from the 60’s and 70’s. Maybe people above the age of 80 would enjoy – but they weren’t present.

The guests of the hotel are more families with small and medium-aged children. So if you aren’t on a family holiday (as we weren’t) the Kempinski might not be your choice.

Finally I want to point out the nice features of the Hotel:
- the Concierge “Marko” was of great help
- Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel (no Wi-Fi at the beach)
- it’s new and clean

Overall, after 3 nights, we’re quite happy to leave the hotel since it’s just not our style of holiday-hotel , it just somehow reminds me of the beach-hotels in Bibione (Italy) where I had to make holiday with my parents 35 years ago.

We arrived to Savudria round 14h o'clock 22nd of June, staid for 6 days, stuff at reception were very good so we check in in few minute!
Room is excellent, round 40m2, bed is perfect. pillows also, so we had very good and relaxing dreams :))
The best part of the room is bathroom! Very clean, stylish and specious!

Staff is very, very friendly, at the reception and in restaurant! They were very helpful in booking restaurants for dinner as we asked them, Restaurant Stari Podrum is excellent choice!

Room service perfect, sandwiches in cebata are very nice :))

Beach is 10 minutes walking from hotel, not so demanding stairs and elevators, water is clean, the only thing is that you need shoes for walking, as the rocks are pretty big!
Beach bar also very good :)
Pools are really good so if you don't want to walk to beach, there are two Jacuzzis, one bigger pool and smaller deeper beside, there is enough sun beds and umbrellas!

In short, this is the best hotel I have ever been to!

To mention, I'm from Serbia, and at first time we had some doubts about Serbia-Croatian relationships, but the second we came in hotel all was clear :)) they are very worm and friendly people, so Serbians are very welcome there!

Arrived at the hotel in the rain at lunchtime and restaurant not yet open as they had served breakfast until 12 noon due to the rain. Decided to have a beer in the bar but not a good idea as the waitress lifted small bottle of beer from the tray leaving large bottle on other side meaning the balance was lost - I and my new leather bag were soaked in beer! The manager came over and offer to dry clean my jeans but that was not helpful as my bag was the chief problem. We mopped up and were given another beer which we expected would be free of charge, but we were given the bill!
Afterwards we went in restaurant and ordered a burger - it was inedible, far worse than any burger chain and this a 5 star hotel! We did not eat anything other than the breakfast in the hotel after that - we went instead to a taverna just before the hotel where they served excellent sardines and other fish as well as meat dishes.
