“Nice hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

This was a friends pick but it wasn't too bad. The common areas are beautiful and the rooms have some nice details. The bathrooms were nice but the shower was a hair bigger than a regular Italian shower. Like someone said before it is odd to have soap dispensers that are empty. The beds were old and needed some updating too. The place is close to thesis part of town so that is great. For the price I would stay here again.

Castelbuono is a lovely little place, well worth a visit and an overnight stay. The hotel was not out of this world but I would recommend it as it is handily located, you can safely park on the street outside, the staff are friendly, the room was perfectly adequate and clean. On the downside the soap dispensers in the shower and in the sink were both completely empty, which I thought was a bit shabby. Breakfast was average at best, but if you have been in San Paulo's pizzeria just across the square from the hotel the night before then breakfast may not be so important. The people we met in this town were very friendly and welcoming.

We recently moved to Sicily and wanted to drive around the island. We decided to go to Cefalu and chosed the Ypsigro at Castelbuono. The city is about a 15 minute drive to Cefalu. Castelbuono is a charming little town with plenty to do. Our experience at the hotel made our time in Castelbuono even better. The staff was very attentive and helpful. There's no private parking for the hotel, however we didn't have a problem finding parking. We found parking within a stone's throw away from the hotel and unlike many other Sicilian cities, you don't have to worry about someone breaking in your car or someone side swiping your car. The hotel is in the center of town, so you can easily walk to all the shops and restaurants. You are also across the street from the il Castello dei Castelbuono ( the Ventimiglia (Castelbuono) castle). The rooms include a safe, internet, and mini fridge with mini bar. At night the streets within the center of town are open only to pedestrians. There's also an amazing Antique market in the center of town. The hotel experience was great the town was amazing. I would stay here again

We stayed 2 nights in this very good Hotel. It is close to a very nice centre which very worth to visit.
Very nice personel and a very good breakfast.

Good restaurants and a good atmospheer certainly in the evening.

Comming from Trapani airport this is a good place to be (2,5 hour driving) on your round trip on Sicilie.

Visits can be made to Cefalu which is 23 km from CasteBuono.

Room Tip: front view with Balcony

We were travelling through Sicily for 10 days, and usually spent 2days in one place then move on,we have had our share of hotels in that time.
When we got to our room the floor was dirty, dead flies and dust bunnies all over parts of the floor,my husband was going to go back down and tell them,to see if they would brush up,but we done it .
The room was lovely and had a balcony, and was spacious and light.
The breakfast started off with a good choice, but as the time went on,each morning there was less and less, they left trays and plates empty, did not take them away and refresh them.
We did stay in better hotels, but this was only our story, you will have your own I hope it is a good one here, the town and people are lovely.

We stayed for 2 weeks at the Ypsigro, which I think was a surprise to the staff, as most people seem to stay one or two nights and move on......well more fool them!! We used the hotel as our base to explore the region, and could not fault it, we had a great room (405) with a balcony overlooking the castle, the breakfast was really good with a good choice of breads jams, yoghurts, fruit, cold meats, cheese etc, certainly not as we expected, given some of the negative reviews. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and it was kept spotlessly clean.
Then of course, there's the location......Castelbueno......it's such a beautiful little town, bustling with life, especially at the weekends, the people so welcoming, that after 2 weeks we felt like locals. Will we visit again?......you bet we will, we fully intend to go back next year, and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else, but the Ypsigro Palace.

Room Tip: try to get a room with a balcony, as those without one seemed a bit dark

Ypsigro Palace is a great hotel! Our room was huge, fantastic shower, balcony and easy parking on the street. The hotel is located right below the castle and from there it is easy to walk all over town. Breakfast was bountiful; yogurt, juice, cornetti, ham and cheese, marmalades and cold cereal. Very clean and the staff is fantastic!
