“A must if you are in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

This hotel was a welcome change from small hotel rooms in major towns. On the 3 km country road leading to the property you see nothing but grape vines and mountains. The property, while remote, is only a 10 minute drive from the gorgeous Castelbuono. Forget going into the town for dinner, the hotel restaurant is fantastic and suprisingly affordable. To be perfect I would suggest complimentary drinking water in the rooms along with tea and coffee (self serve) making facilities. An iron for guest use would also be welcome.Unfortunately the pool water was too cold to enable swimming however the pool area is lovely.

My family and I had dinner at Santa Anastacia and we enjoyed it very much! Beautiful surroundings, beautiful small church next to the diner room. I would say, place to be! Enjoy the location like we did

The service from the front desk is great. They are very helpful in answering questions and giving recommendations.
The hotel rooms are a little tired, but very clean. Our room had no view.
Breakfast was nice and the selection of food was good including hot drinks and eggs made to order.
We didnt eat at the restaurant. There is wifi in the reception area with comfy sofas to sit on.
The hotel isnt good value for money, but the setting is lovely and the good service makes up for it. Don't both going to the beach club the hotel has a deal with - its at the wrong end of town without any sand.
If I visited again, I'd stay in Cefalu which has local restaurants and near the beach.

We stayed here for 4 days in September as part of a wedding party. The service was attentive from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The food was delicious and abundant, the seafood was especially memorable. The immediate area is very idyllic and the hotel is surrounded by stunning views, the beach and pretty coastal town of Cefalu is a just a short drive away.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building, closest to reception, seem to be the only ones with wifi access.

This is a tricky review because we loved the hotel and the food and surroundings and would visit again, but a huge negative was the two weddings, one of which was underneath our bedroom until 1.30 a.m. Great restaurant with excellent food. Outstandingly nice and helpful receptionist with at least 5 languages! Superb huge pool with views over vineyards and hills. Suggest you check if they have a wedding and book at another time. Lovely walks around hotel, with a bad map to guide us - we saw young wild boar piglets! We travelled with Long Travel Shropshire, who were excellent and really know Sicily - I would definitely book with them again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the annexe well away from weddings and restaurant!

I have stayed here twice, August 2012 and September 2013, with my husband and 2 year-old daughter and I will be be returning. We loved it so much the first time we stayed that we had no hesitation in booking our wedding here.
Firstly, the hotel is situated in the most beautiful location, amongst olive groves and vineyards, high up in the Madonie National Park. You drive up the long private road surrounded by spectacular scenery and when you get to the top, it doesn't disappoint as the views are breathtaking. The location is great, near a pretty medieval town called Castelbuono and only 20 minutes drive from the beaches and restaurants of Cefalu. Day trips to Mount Etna or Palermo are easily doable from here too.
The hotel is decorated in a traditional Sicilian style (not tired or outdated but not contemporary either). The beds are very comfortable and the rooms spacious. We stayed in Cabernet Franc this time which is huge room with a huge bed, separate bathroom and cloakroom and there was plenty of space for a family here (along with a pretty Juliet balcony). A TV and minibar was located in one of the standalone wardrobes but there is so much to do here we didn't even switch on the TV. There are no tea/coffee making facilities but you can order them to your room if required.
The hotel was immaculately clean and all the communal areas including the pool are kept clean and tidy. The pool is not staffed (except for food and drink) and I was happy (having a small child) that there was a discreet rope around the pool which helped a little to deter my daughter from jumping in! This I have also experienced at other 4 and 5 star hotels in Italy. There are snacks and drinks available all day at the pool and it's a perfect place to enjoy a Campari apperitivo before dinner.
The food here is AMAZING. The chef (Antonio) is passionate about food and it certainly shows. The portions are generous, the food is very fresh ( and local where they can), and is presented excellently. We ate some fantastic seafood whilst we were here and the pasta is to die for, not to mention the wine (it is of course an organic winery, and we were excited to order a case and have it delivered to us in London). Go on a wine tour, it's interesting. Our wedding meal of 5 courses was the best wedding food that most of us had ever had. All my guests were highly impressed.
The service was impeccable. All the staff were happy to help with any request and nothing was too much to ask. Tomasso lead the planning for the wedding reception and every detail was executed to my exact requirements and even some things I hadn't thought of. I was impressed.
We had many guests staying at the hotel from the UK and Europe and all of them said what a great time they had and how brilliantly they had been looked after at Santa Anastasia (especially the food). I cannot recommend this place highly enough and we will definitely be back, time and time again.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Relais at the end a month of travel in Sicily. We thought the property was much closer to Castelbuono and were initially concerned. It turned out that this relaxing time exploring the property and eating wonderful meals in the restaurant was exactly what we needed. The property is beautiful, situated in the middle of vineyards with a busy winery on site. The room was large, very clean and very comfortable. The beautifully renovated old stone buildings had many cosy sitting rooms and the pool was large and well maintained. What we liked the most about the property was the staff. From the friendly, and helpful front desk staff ( we would like to say a particular thank you to Marianna who not only was skilled at her job but has a great sense of humour), to the knowledgeable and customer focused staff in the dining room everyone we met there made us wish that we could stay longer. After each splendid evening meal ( the food was fresh, well prepared and accompanied by very good wine made right on site) we took a stroll and looked in awe at the sky full of stars ( an advantaged of being " out of town")

The only problem we had was finding the correct waking paths when we went out for a trek..the map we were given was not helpful ... Perhaps a couple of direction signs would be helpful. We were not the only walkers that "got lost" trying to use the map that day.

We would definitely recommend the Relais Santa Anastasia.
