I have stayed here twice, August 2012 and September 2013, with my husband and 2 year-old daughter and I will be be returning. We loved it so much the first time we stayed that we had no hesitation in booking our wedding here.
Firstly, the hotel is situated in the most beautiful location, amongst olive groves and vineyards, high up in the Madonie National Park. You drive up the long private road surrounded by spectacular scenery and when you get to the top, it doesn't disappoint as the views are breathtaking. The location is great, near a pretty medieval town called Castelbuono and only 20 minutes drive from the beaches and restaurants of Cefalu. Day trips to Mount Etna or Palermo are easily doable from here too.
The hotel is decorated in a traditional Sicilian style (not tired or outdated but not contemporary either). The beds are very comfortable and the rooms spacious. We stayed in Cabernet Franc this time which is huge room with a huge bed, separate bathroom and cloakroom and there was plenty of space for a family here (along with a pretty Juliet balcony). A TV and minibar was located in one of the standalone wardrobes but there is so much to do here we didn't even switch on the TV. There are no tea/coffee making facilities but you can order them to your room if required.
The hotel was immaculately clean and all the communal areas including the pool are kept clean and tidy. The pool is not staffed (except for food and drink) and I was happy (having a small child) that there was a discreet rope around the pool which helped a little to deter my daughter from jumping in! This I have also experienced at other 4 and 5 star hotels in Italy. There are snacks and drinks available all day at the pool and it's a perfect place to enjoy a Campari apperitivo before dinner.
The food here is AMAZING. The chef (Antonio) is passionate about food and it certainly shows. The portions are generous, the food is very fresh ( and local where they can), and is presented excellently. We ate some fantastic seafood whilst we were here and the pasta is to die for, not to mention the wine (it is of course an organic winery, and we were excited to order a case and have it delivered to us in London). Go on a wine tour, it's interesting. Our wedding meal of 5 courses was the best wedding food that most of us had ever had. All my guests were highly impressed.
The service was impeccable. All the staff were happy to help with any request and nothing was too much to ask. Tomasso lead the planning for the wedding reception and every detail was executed to my exact requirements and even some things I hadn't thought of. I was impressed.
We had many guests staying at the hotel from the UK and Europe and all of them said what a great time they had and how brilliantly they had been looked after at Santa Anastasia (especially the food). I cannot recommend this place highly enough and we will definitely be back, time and time again.
