I have given this a "very good" rating, because it is extremely good value (we paid £60 for a twin bedded room, including breakfast). The hotel is clean, attractive and close to Bristol, Berkeley Castle, the M4, M5 etc., so very convenient. We were pleased with our room, which was quietly located (make sure you don't get one on looking onto the busy, sometimes noisy, main road) and of a good size, with free wifi. The bathroom was fine, except for the fixed shower head, which was on the wall, over the bath. It didn't work well and it meant that, if you wanted a bath, you had to stand up to shower your hair. The bar again is clean and attractive, but does lack atmosphere and I wasn't happy to have a large, loud, TV dominating it, particularly as it was, at the time of my visit, playing football, so my husband kept getting sidetracked by it... Call me old-fashioned, but, if you are going for a drink in the bar, it's to have a chat, not watch TV? The dining room was, not to spoil the norm, clean, but again lacked atmosphere, perhaps as we were the only four people in it, although, to be fair, it was a Sunday night. We were disappointed at the end of our meal (around 9 pm) to be asked to leave the table and finish our drinks in the bar. Additionally, the bar closed at 10.00 p.m. Other than that(!), I can recommend it as a clean, safe, economical place to lay your head for the night.
Ask for a quietly located one, away from the main road.
