“good B & B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I booked to stay at the castle inn as it was in the main square. The room was good. Not too much room to manoeuvre but clean and warm. The bathroom had a good walk in shower and was clean and warm. If i was to be picky i would say that the window could do with a net curtain or a blind as i felt that i was in a fish bowl during the day when i didn't want to have the curtains closed. Bed comfy and i had a really good nights sleep.
Breakfast was ok, freshly cooked.
I would say that the bar lacked any atmosphere and was not that comfortable to sit in.
The lady who owns the pub is very pleasant, however i have to say that she was constantly sniffing while I was the only one in the dining room is rather annoying and off putting. I wanted to shout get a tissue and blow your nose.................. Overall though I was happy.

“Great Lunchtime Menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

We visited Usk in August to go to Usk Castle which is a couple of minutes walk from the Pub. The flower festival was on in the Town and it was incredibly beautiful. We visited the Castle Inn Hotel and had a fantastic lunchtime meal. We had two courses for £8.95 from the specials menu. There was a fantastic choice (including vegeterian), I had the steak pie & my partner had the steak, with fruit crumble for afters. Good portions and excellent service. The restaurant is all on one level as are the toilets, so it's disabled and elderly accessable. There's also a lovely beer garden. We had a great meal and would go back if in the area.

“Good stop over and good breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013 via mobile

Rooms clean and modern and with wifi - breakfast good but not many options to a cooked breakfast.
Bar at night lacks atmosphere and tends to be occupied by young locals who are a bit noisy.

“Could be so much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

The flower-decked exterior hides a few disappointments sadly. Our room was comfortable enough, but why only one teabag and item of toiletry each?Breakfast was fine quantity-wise but the bacon and sausages, advertised as locally-sourced, certainly didn't taste as such. Hilariously the bedside lamp on my side of the bed was for appearances' sake only, with no nearby socket to plug into.Considering the lovely setting and the price (£69 for the room) this could be a whole lot better with the minimum of effort.

“Good food but unfriendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Nice menu and good well cooked food at a reasonable price, but the service was poor, both at the bar and in the restaurant. The lady in the bar and who eventually took our order for food was rude and no-one asked if we were enjoying the meal. Probably won't go again when in Usk because there is plenty of completion here and only the best survive these days. You don't have to put up with poor service.
