We arrived late in Pau last night after a lengthy drive from Calais and had tried all the budge type hotels which were full. We were offered a room at the Kyriad, Pau and needed it. However, whilst the room was adequate, and the bed comfy, we decided to eat in the restaurant as we were too tired to go out and find somewhere to eat. The restaurant was near to closing but we were assured we could get a meal and chose the play de jour menu which consisted of Egg Mayonaise, except is wasn;t, it was hard boiled eggs with tuna mayonaise which my husband could not eat. We ordered the stead - advertised as originating in Spain, and it certainly looked and tasted like it has walked all the way from Spain. It was thin, grisly, near raw and awful with a single strip of green spring onion stalk draped across it with some re fried chips We did not eat it and I wrapped it up and bought it home for my dog today in the cool box of the car and even she turned her nose up at steak !!!! The sweet was acceptable Why do these hotels think they can rip people off when they know they are located in usually way out places and most people are so tired when they arrive after a journey that they just want and hope to get a decent meal in the hotel Which is not always the case. The area this hotel is situated is right in the middle of a not very attractive industrial estate, Oh yes, I also found a number of public hairs lurking in the bath
