Breathtaking hotel, consisting of the main house and several outbuildings.
We stayed in the main house with a panoramic view which was sensational! The room was luxurious and spacious with plenty of cupboard space.
The bathroom was beautiful with an excellent rain shower over the bath.
Loads of towels and luxuriously soft bathrobes.
Spa is beautiful. Had a fabulous massage on one day and then tried the holistic pedicure the following day. Massage was excellent. Holistic pedicure was just ok.
Breakfast was good, but I had to ask several times for All Bran which was on the room service menu, but not on the breakfast buffet table. On the third morning they had run out! Hello!- a 5 star hotel should not be running out of cereal. Also the fruit on offer was very ordinary for a part of the world that has the most beautiful home grown produce.
In my opinion this needs improving. We noticed on the menu that they charge 30 euros per head for breakfast. Luckily it was included in the price of our room.
I am just nit-picking - but there is plenty of competition nearby, so they need to pay attention to all aspects of their service.
Apart from these small niggles, we enjoyed our stay immensely!

Good afternoon from Castello del Nero,
thank you for your kind words, it has been a great pleasure for us to host you at our property and we really look forward to welcoming you again soon.

We are really sorry to read about the disappointment regarding the All Bran as we have a large selection of cereals both the most populars and also several single packed organig choices, I trust a misunderstanding occurred as we are very careful with our supplies, unfortunately little mistakes can occurr but we have to make sure to not let this happen, we are also sorry that our fresh fruit selection did not match your expectations, the Chef has been informed about your comment and we will pay even more attention to this aspect in order to enhance the actual offering that received, so far, raving reviews.
Our Spa Manager has been informed about your pedicure experience and we will work in order to bring it to a higher level.

Have a nice day

We stayed at the Castello del Nero for two nights in September. The grounds and facility were beautiful on our arrival. We were also told that our room would be beautiful, but when the door opened it was very clearly different from the numerous photos available on the booking website. Although the room itself was quite large, there was a single tiny window which was externally covered with bars. Although it was difficult to see through the window, the view backs on to the back of the kitchen prep station. There was no natural source of light otherwise and thus the room has the charm of a storm shelter. I was immediately disappointed and discussed this with the check in staff. I was told that my room represented a classic double room which does not typically have a view or natural light. I apparently should have booked an executive or delux double room for this privilege and neither were currently available. The staff explained that the only option to receive natural light would be to upgrade to a suite which was an additional 650 Euro per night. The alternative was to move to a very small room which was actually a single bedroom off the previously mentioned suite. The staff explained that it was not their fault, but rather the booking website that I used (Expedia) as the photos are not accurate.

Ultimately, I decided to stay with the original bunker room. This was a great learning experience for us and we will never make this mistake again. The fraudulent behaviour of this hotel has been well documented in other posts on trip advisor and I strongly suggest that you look into other options in this area. This hotel is a wonderful facility if you select to stay in one of the highest end room as these rooms are ultimately subsidized by the inferior quality rooms at the entry level. By overcharging the entry level rooms, the hotel is able to sustain profit and allure travellers by posting numerous photos of the high-end rooms. Also the numerous positive reviews are likely from customers whom experienced the higher end rooms. My room was almost 500$ CAD per night and it is the worst waste of cash that I have personally ever spent.

I sincerely hope that those who read this post are able to benefit from this terrible experience. In the interim, I plan to discuss with booking agent and the hotel management, but I am likely up for a huge amount of hassle with minimal benefit.

Room Tip: My advice is to look at other hotels.

My wife and I stayed here for a two night stop over on our way to Florence, and all I can say is that we should have stayed longer. From the location of the property, to the friendly staff and superb Tuscan food, we enjoyed our stay immensely! The room was nicely appointed with a comfortable bed and linens, an oversized bathroom (which is hard to find in Italy), and a fabulous view of the vineyards below. I would highly recommend a wine tasting before dinner, and dine on the terrace if the weather is nice. The spa was also amazing! I would recommend having a car so you that you can explore the surrounding towns & vineyards. All in all, one of the nicest properties that we've had the pleasure of enjoying. Can't wait to go back!

We spent 3 nights here, and absolutely loved it.
It was our anniversary, and I contacted the hotel in advance. They offered us a deal to upgrade to a suite, which I accepted. We were blown away! Absolutely the nicest room we've ever stayed in - we felt like celebrities.

We were in a Deluxe Frescoed Junior Suite (#118), which is stunning and huge. It looks like it's 1/2 of the Presidential suite. If you look on their website, it's the green room with all the frescoes on the wall and ceiling.

Outside our room was a huge living room with a fireplace and great views. Then our main room was the bedroom with a sitting area and a desk area. The sitting area was couple of chairs and a couch in front on the fireplace. Also had a small dining table with chairs. Two huge armoires for clothes. A good size safe. Then a separate, huge bathroom. Clawfoot tub, walk-in shower, toilet, bidet. Double sinks. All marble. Huge windows in the bedroom and the bathroom overlook the Tuscan countryside. Simply amazing.

And the staff was great. Super friendly and helpful.
We didn't use the spa or fitness room or pool.
Breakfast was excellent. Enjoyed it on the terrace which has great views.
We didn't eat any other meals in the main restaurant.
We did have appetizers and a few glasses of wine in the bar area. Again, great service. But pricey. A couple of apps and 5 glasses of wine was over 100 euros.
One night we did bring our own bottle of wine out to the terrace and enjoyed it there, which was lovely (and way less expensive).

We used this as our home base for exploring Tuscany. We had a car, so each day we went off in a different direction, exploring a couple of villages each day. This all worked out great.

Overall, one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. I would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 118, Absolutely the nicest room we've ever stayed in - we felt like celebritie...

We had a ( short ) wonderfull stay in the Estate and we loved it all the Way. We loved our romantic castle-room ( we became an upgrade), the wonderfull pool, the delightfull exquisite dinner in La Torre, the unforgettable breakfast on the terrace and of course the impeccable service of all the staf. Hopefully we can return to Castello del Nero soon again.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are great. We had a jr. suite , which was excellent
