“Typical cafe fare.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013 via mobile

We visited Reeds for lunch.
The menu is typical cafe food - sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and a range of cakes.
The food was good and portion sizes reasonable. My filter coffee and cappuccino were ok.
Service was ok and a member of staff kindly carried my drink over as I had a pushchair.
The cafe has lots of tables and was a little cramped for pushchairs. There is access for chairs around the side of the building and there is a toilet for baby changing and people with disabilities.
All in all a reasonable cafe with a relaxed atmosphere. I am not sure how it compares to other cafes in Downham Market but it was reasonable and I would return.

“French quality in rural Norfolk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Dont be put off by quaint in some reviews
This is a seriously professional operation with ambience of 50s
Like watching a Christmas film on TV
My second visit confirmed the unusal quality of food and drink
Lasagne [English rather than Italian style ie more meat and cheese sauce than layers of pasta barely seperate] with very fresh salad and Lea and Perrins on request for £7 was faultless
other sandwiches of equal quality
Service is professional unlike much in England
Quite unphased by any unusual request
Cakes were as good as British get if not quite French patisserie standard
Where in E Anglia can you get Columbian, Costa Rica, Gautemala or Java coffee in a Cafetiere
Not in any of the Coffee Chains too foul to mention or even in M and S
Reeds cup coffee is Blue Mountain and best in E Anglia
Amazing in a country that doesnt much like coffee unless disguised by milk sugar syrup cinnamon choc powder to hide the intrinsic quality of the coffee
Reeds reminds me of France in the 60s
Better go back soon because it cant last
It has and so I hope will Reeds
Park in Morrisons across the road
As Michelin say Reeds is worth more than a detour its worth a jopurney

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

We go there for coffee every so often. It's nice, staff are helpful and the quality is fairly good for the price. It's by far the best for coffee and snacks in the town, although the bar isn't that high.

“Nice local cafe a cut above the rest.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

The coffee is good in Reeds, as are the bacon butties. It really is a bit better than local alternatives with a relaxed yet professional atmosphere. Clientele vary from young mums to the elderly. Recommended if you're visiting Downham Market.

““Best coffee in E Anglia””
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

After some research I was advised I would not be disappointed by coffee in Reeds

True! Double espresso Blue Mountain was perfect- cafe du jour

Far better than the blend of 5 countries sold by M and S and the Coffee Chains at higher price

Many country coffees were available in cafetieres

Staff were feisty and well informed

the atmosphere was prewar department store warm and womblike

The street window display is beds and linen

Coal skuttles and Fireguards feature at entrance

This is my best find in E Anglia in 5 decades

As Michelin say -worth a visit
