“Spectacular location a trade off for awful service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2012

Most of the prior comments expressed my experience. The location within the Torres del Paine park is wonderful. There is immediate access to hiking trails. This hotel is perched on the shore of Lago Grey with a beautiful vista of snow capped peaks. These are the only reasons to stay here. The service is horrible, the staff generally appear unconcerned for the guests. The food is not appealing, expensive and with few options. Whatever hotel you select in TdP, be prepared to have all your meals there. It is difficult to get to other places - roads are unpaved and travel takes much longer. We did some wonderful hiking arranged by the hotel and were fortunate to have good weather that day. BEfore I would suggest this hotel to anyone, I would explore alternatives.

Room Tip: The new "wing" are the 900 level rooms and they are the only ones I would stay in - beauti...

I agree with most that was said, just some distilled highlights --
1) ask for one of the 900 rooms, the view is spectacular and the room is very well furnished
2) the weather there could be very rough, so prepare for the rain and especially strong winds
3) the service is a bit rude, don't expect much coddling
4) food is so so, both dinner and breakfast
5) WiFi in the bar area only and e-mail doesn't work other than through the browser.

Overall, well worth the stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the 900 block when making a reservation.

This hotel is located right on Grey Lake (Lago Grey). There is a beautiful view from the dining room and deck. There are boat rides to the Grey Glacier as well as some nice hiking. Room was quiet and clean. Just what we were looking for.

The spectacular views from the dining room/deck make up the small rooms. Can't think of a nicer place to be. We were one of the first to check in after the fires. Highly recommend!

Hosteria Lago Grey is one of those places that is perfect for its setting. It has a lodge atmosphere and spectacular views. I had a room on the back side, so my view was of the forest, but the common areas of the main building have amazing views. I would describe the rooms as large, clean, rustic and comfortable. The food is just OK, but just keep in mind where you are!

We were in one of the new rooms (ask for one of the 800 or 900 rooms). We were there before the fires. Food was fine, great buffet breakfast. The views were amazing, changing with sun position. Both sunrise ans sunset were special.

Room Tip: 800 or 900 numbers

Lago Grey Hosteria looks a little like a 50's style American motel - several lines of attached rooms in a row. This is true of the standard rooms, my glimpse of the superior rooms looked a little different and they have the lake view. We had a triple, which was large and comfortable and clean, perfectly adequate, although overpriced as is everything in Torres del Paine.

The main lobby has a spectacular view of the lake and the glacier, as does the bar and dining room. There is WiFI available in the bar, although it can be a little tricky to get on and the mail app on the IPad doesn't work well, you have to get on directly through Safari.

Breakfast was ok, not great, but pleniful.

The location is good, easy access to the drivable roads in the park and the boat trip to the glacier is very worth it. All and all a good place to stay in Torres del Paine

Hopefully this hotel is still standing as it is directly in the path of the fires raging in Torres del Paine at this time, Dec, 2011

Room Tip: all the standard rooms seem to be about the same. The rooms closest to lobby, the 200 block are clo...
