Often for me its about more than just the room and the Lankham ticks a lot of boxes.
I have stayed here half a dozen times and love it. The 60,000 kip rooms are a gamble, some are ok for the money others are crammped with beds less comfortable than a park bench.

Take a 100,000 kip room (discounts available for longer stays) and its solid value, air con, T.V, comfortable bed etc.

The staff are great, happy to chat and help with whatever you need. T
T
he motorbikes they rent are well maintained and a fair price.

Even if you do not stay here you have to try the restauraunt outside which serves up the best soup in Laos if not Asia, perfect for filling up before blasting of on a bike.

WI-FI available downstairs.

Room Tip: If you take a 60,000 kip room look at a few as standards of bed vary wildly

Average hotel with small rooms. My room was on the top floor with no lift. Bed wasnt very comfortable but im not complaining as it was cheap. Hired a motorbike from them for seven days. very happy with this service - good price and reasonably new bikes. They can organise trips and transport. I bought a bus ticket to bangkok from them and was told it was going to be a new vip bus with a meal. It turned out to be an old bus with a very small peice of cake. Still - it was a cheap price. Overall i recomend this place for the money.

60,000 Kip per night, with ants on my bed, broken windows, unclean bathroom and noisy traffic all night. Roasters singing at 4:30am. I don't know where the roasters came from, suppose this is located at the 'city' not at a farm... I stayed in Laos for one week, that was the only night that I couldn't sleep :(

This is an unremarkable hotel. Its location is convenient. Its price is budget its value is average. It was just what I needed so it passes with a thumbs up. It. Is a concrete canyon so be warned if other guests are noisy the sound will find you. Great Indian restaurant across the road. Buses also leave from across the road. As I said its no 5 star place..... but it doesn't pretend to be.

Its cheap and I know the old adage of you get what you pay for but there are now some other hotels in the city offering similar/larger rooms at slightly lower prices - Royal Pakse Hotel & Thalang Hotel: head north on Thanon (road) 24 off Highway 13 (coming from the VIP long distance bus station turn right after the Kataud Cafe) and then look for the hotel after 100m northwest corner of the next junction.

The Bad: The guy behind the counter was a little too 'relaxed', I did wonder if he was going to ask me what year it was at one point but this is Laos. The rooms (AC Double for $12) come with a fridge, hot shower, overhead fan and double bed. The rooms is SMALL and with two people its hard to knock each other over if there for more than 10 minutes and I was dubious with the security situation. Fair enough this is Pakse not Detroit but the outward opening door with flimsy lock and large windows that again weren't that secure left me feeling awkward about what to leave in room. Also generally the place is a bit of a dump, there were a large collection of old toilets in the corridor outside my room and no ventilation so the shower floor stays wet all day and the room damp.

The good: Free water each day and I asked for my room to be cleaned mid-day and they were very propt about it. TV and Fridge in rooms and the rooms are clean enough given the price range. Trail bike rentals downstairs, they can book bus tickets and its opposite a supermarket, good tour operator and theres an indian and western restaurant across the road and next door.

The Ugly: see afforementioned toilet collection.

Now one thing to be said - at the moment (Sep 2011) they are decorating so maybe this place will be pretty swish in a few months time - check out later reviews.

Room Tip: ask for something large with a view

pretty basic but an improvement on the first place we tried in pakse.

rooms are simple but have en suite cold water showers. the lobby has wi-fi but rooms don't. the are some nice balconys for hanging out in.

would probably stay here again but its nothing special.
