“Relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

What a wonderful hotel - elegant but relaxed, well maintained, beautiful location and excellent service and food. From the reception to the restaurant - all done with a smile even at its most busy times. We stayed in the old grain storage building that had been redone 10 years ago to act as a hotel - it worked seamlessly. Smallish hotel rooms, but oozing charm. We were there for a Friday night with Dinner and Dance. The surroundings couldnt have been better. Next time - and there will definitely be a next time - we'll stay for the weekend and make sure to use the Spa - both in and out door.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and it is lovely! Especially the "Kallbadhus" is an exceptiional experience. The hotel is nice, clean and modern, the spa is also very nice and the food in the restaurant is good - the breakfast buffet is amazing. But the real treat is the sorroundings. Beautiful landscape and a soothing view over the sea, very blissful!

I have only been here in the fall and never when there is a tennis tournament going on. Do watch out for those as you will get no peace and quiet then! They sometimes allow kids in the spa - ask in advance when. The spa is so much greater without them ;)

All in all a good place for a romantic getaway or a relaxing girls' weekend.

A very relaxing time was spent at Hotel Skansen in Båstad with a group of friends. We stayed in one of the villas around the tennis court which was excellent (great interconnecting rooms with a kitchennet and extra bed in between). Spa was good, pool was nice. Tried the zumba class and a yoga class which were great. Sunday brunch quite fantastic - not to be missed!
All in all a great experience!

This is one of the most charming hotels, I have stayed at. The outdoor Kallbadhus on the pier is fantastic both summer and winter... imagine a dark winter afternoon lying in the 38 degree water outside watching the stars and then finishing at the sauna with seaview to stay extra warm?!
The rooms are very nice with old tennis photos from the hotels history of great tennis tournaments, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom very nice.
The hotel restaurant serves fantastic food. The breakfast and lunch buffets are varied and scrumptuous. The dinner focuses on local produce and they are very talented, their chefs! And the surroundings: On the beach but still centrally located in the city, which is very charming.

Room Tip: Decide if you want seaview or a bigger room like one of the new apartments with kitchen and two room...

I stayed for a few days with my husband. We had a room in one of the villas around the tennis courts. It was end of/after the summer season so many places in the surrounding town were closed but there was a fair bit to do at the hotel- gym, spas, tennis courts, nice restaurant, beach front walks and i think other activities can be organised. The room was clean and felt reasonably new, very decent sized for a european hotel with good storage and with a big bathroom. Service was excellent and everyone was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good but the buffet lunch/brunch in the main hotel restaurant was even better with brilliant typical swedish dishes and amazing value. Alcohol is pretty expensive as it seems to be anywhere in sweden. A car is a must if you are planning on going anywhere outside of Bastad. Would return.

I stayed in this hotel for a conference. The service is ok and the restaurant is typical Scandinavian: solid but not too exciting. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is right on the beach in a lovely Swedish beach town. The Swedish Tennis Open are held at the hotel complex in Bastad and this provides a nice sporty atmosphere. I found my room, which was in one of the annex buildings, quite small. I would advise potential guest to request a room in the main building.

Room Tip: Request rooms in the main hotel building

As part of a conference i have stayed at Skansen for two nights. A had a nice room with a sea view right down to the wooden boardwalk.

there is a tennis (and spa) theme throughout the hotel (most rooms has old picture of tennis players who has participated in the Swedish Open)as Skansen each year holds the Swedish Open in Tennis. Beside tennis there is lots of things to do both in terms of watersport and spa treatments.

The food and service of the hotel is as expected and the city of Båstad is really nice and has a real summerfeel to it.

It would recommend the hotel but consider that you might happen to stay there while is a big conference.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms in main building
