We had a table of 8 of us for the New Year's Eve Dinner Dance. WOW what a menu - so good I posted a picture - and the wine package that came with it as an option incredibly well chosen. A little salmon amuse to start with a sparkling wine (of course) then a touch of fresh lobster, scallop and oyster emulsion - yummy! Followed by beautifully cooked turbot and then perfectly cooked kalvfillet (tenderloin of red veal) a well chosen cheese selection and finished with a perfect chocolate creme brulée. We sat down about 7 and finished our meal about 11 with plenty to amuse us including 3 good groups. Our serrvice was friendly and immaculate - our waiter (born and raised in Melbourne!!) was allocated to our English speaking table and made a totally great evening into an unforgettable one. Over 200 people were celebrating in the restaurant that night and as the fireworks went off we were served more bubbly, oysters and apples (!) and petits fours. Fantastic. Not cheap of course but superb value and about half what something similar would have cost in London IF you could have found it.
We've visited the hotel before but never stayed as we have friends nearby. We've never eaten there before so can't tell you what it's like on an ordinary weekday. But if you want a topping way to celebrate New Year book up for the next one quick.
