Ranked #6 of 43 restaurants in Are
Description: In Åre you'll find this old hunting lodge reminiscent of the end of the nineteenth century, but which is now home to the Villa Totebo restaurant. The open fire in the dining room spreads warmth and the bar lights up in the winter gloom. The menu contains the best of modern European cooking, with inspiration from other parts of the world as well. The kitchen uses by choice ingredients from Jämtland and other regions in northern Sweden. There are also set menus and a party menu.

“Fine dining Åre, jämtland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Lodge Tottebo (Villa Tottebo) is a must if you like fine dining the traditional Swedish way. The kitchen is always on there toes to deliver first class meals. Unfortunately the service level do not match the excellent chefs. Unneccesary mistakes happens from time to time.

Nice wine selection, flexible and very affordable taste menu. Good kids menu! Reservations are recommended.

“Fine dining using local ingredients”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

Great tasting menu including marinated grouse, raindeer filet, locally produced cheese, and icecream with cloudberries. Excellent wine list, cosy atmosphere, and friendly but a bit inexperienced service staff

“Excellent variety; interesting ambience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Villa Tottebo, like many of the buildings in Sweden, is made of wood, but once inside the feeling is of a large country house. The dining areas are intimate, the service attentive and the range of locally sourced food, wide.
This was one of the few local restaurants to remain open after the end of August. Our table for two was a little cramped but a waiter quickly rescued the glass which fell as we shifted to be seated. The wines and beers are priced towards the top end of what we saw during a two week stay in Sweden. Starters included an interesting mix of textures and sauces. Reindeer as a main course was tender and pink. Lamb brisket turned out to be lamb shank but with an unusual spicy bite to the sauce. Total bill for two including a glass of wine and beer was about SEK700.

“Great intro to Swedish cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012

We were really impressed with how sophisticated the menu was, and all the produce is locally sourced, great wine list too, all in an authentic Swedish setting.
