“good choice under certain conditions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

I have stayed to this hotel 3 times, for 2-3 days at a time.
It is probably the best choice in Preveza if:
a) you get a front room (the view is splendid)
b) you have a car (it is located about 3 kilometers from the city)
c) you do not care about the staff being somewhat unprofessional or rude (I prefer not to interact with the staff)
d) you are given a good price (say < 80 Euros)

The location and the view among the most beautiful you can find. That's enough for me, but it may not be for some other people. The pool is something you will be using often. However, if you do not manage to get a front room, you will probably have a miserable time, and you 'd better stay elsewhere.

I guess this was a grandious hotel back in the days. Well that was maybe in the seventies. To me it seems nothing have been done in the hotel since then. It i somewhat remote if you don't have a car. To walk in the surroundings has to be regarded as dangerous due to lots and lots of stray dogs. The pool is clean, as one of few thing in this hotel.

Margarona Royal is undoubtedly a nice hotel with a small disadvantage: it is quite far from the centre of Preveza town in a quiet area so check this before if you plan to move a lot in the city. Otherwise it is convenient for day excursions in the nearby spectacular archaeological sites of Nikopolis and the Necromanteion. I stayed there for only one night with a large group as part of our extensive tour of Epirus. My room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a nice bathroom but the view was the parking lot of the hotel. I'm sure there are rooms with better views over the lagoon and the local area. In general terms, I believe that the hotel is the best option in Preveza as far as style and star grading are concerned but it is a hotel more oriented towards a business clientele and not the usual tourists or families.

This hotel is in a quiet location. Perfectly located for visits to the classical sites in the area (Nicoplois, Nekromanteon etc). The hotel was quiet when we visited even though there were tour parties staying. We appreciated the swimming pool, which was quiet. The staff were wonderfully helpful. We had a small child and an elderly grandparent in our party and the hotel suited all our needs perfectly. Certainly the best place to stay in the area.

This is a faded glory of a three-star or one-time four star hotel that smelled so bad there were perfume dispensers plugged in the main bedrooms. Most of the odor came from the bathroom. We are fairly easy to please--this was so bad neither of us showered, and both kept our faces covered while using the bathroom, which also wasn't very clean. The carpet in the room hadn't been vacuumed in quite some time. The breakfast was terrible--frozen, brown bananas, poor selection. The staff was unable to help with the simplest request about the well known battle site a short distance away where Antony and Cleopatra lost their final battle to Augustus Caesar. There was one very helpful front desk clerk in the morning who helped us to locate a vet to help some newborn puppies we found with their mother in a nearby ruin. The property the hotel is on is very nice. The pool looked clean. I would car camp before I'd stay here again.

All the services were perfect. The breakfast and dinner served on a buffet were delicious and you could choose from a large variety.
