“Good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Good hotel. Friendly manager. Meals were horribly unhealthy but very tasty. Breakfast made to order with continental options also available. Rooms were decent considering the location but cramped (2 single beds), and wifi was fast.

Stayed March 2013, traveled on business

This little lodge (about 12 rooms) is run by a Winnipeg based co-op that is notorious for operating very poor quality lodgings in Canada's arctic. They are equally notorious for charging absolutely outrageous prices, for example, in this lodge, $250 per bed per night. That means if you have two people sleeping in a single room with twin beds, you are going to pay $500 a night. Bend over and lube up...

This particular facility in Qikiqtarjuaq is not too bad so far as Inns North properties go. It has had a bit of reinvestment over the years, the furnishings in the rooms are OK, and the rooms have their own bathroom and shower (at least, all the times I have stayed here, the rooms have had their own bath and shower). It is cleaner than average for an Inns North property.

Foodservice varies greatly depending on who the manager/cook happens to be at any one time. Last couple of times I have stayed here the food has been 'OK' - not great, but not awful either. Be aware that there are no restaurants of any kind in this village, which means that you either eat what the pot cooks at this lodge, or you go to a grocery store and buy your own food (with no possibility of preparing hot meals).
