“The good and bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We had a two week family holiday in August 2012 with Thomas Cook. The first impression of our room was very disappointing - the back of our ground floor apartment was unpleasant, the shower sprayed all around the smelly bathroom, there were little crawlies in the kitchen cupboards, and the fridge door had no rail and everything would fall out. After reporting the problems they fixed the door and the shower, quickly. The fans were 20euros each per week, which were a rip off as they were for sale on the main road for 25e we found out later.
There are rooms with air-con but they were all taken. The pool area is nice and modern but the drinks were expensive 5e for a local beer, and they were having problems with the chemicals whilst we were there, the swimming costumes went green !!
We liked the beach (though it could have been cleaner with ciggy butts), the sun beds are free if you buy a drink and the kids had a great day in the sea on the inflatables 5e. The bus to the next beach was easy and cheap. The main road and beach front has lots of restaurants and shops, so nice for evening strolls. The old town where Pauls Bar is is really quaint.
To sum up, I think it is pot luck about the apartments some are definately better than others, but we made it our rustic home and made friends with really nice people. The sea is lovely and very warm, the sand is ok, and location is good.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Ioli Village from 3rd September for two weeks. We had amazing time. I cannot see why people are complaining...

Our apartment was on the second floor, it was basic but had everything we needed, it was very clean and spacious( two balconies). TV and air con was very nice surprise for us. We booked this holiday with Travel Republic luckily not with Thomas Cook :-)

Pool and bar area were nice and modern but we spent every day on the beach ( 5 min walk). The sea was super clean.

Ioli Village complex is very nice, this place is very nice, quiet and ideal to rest. Pefkohori is a little village with lots of restaurants, tavernas, bars and shops but we found the best taverna 4 km away in Hanioti village called Tropicana.

I would definitely recommend a day boat trip from Pefkohori pier to Sithonia (second finger on the Chalkidiki). It was 25 euro per person but it was worth the money.
The boat goes to the stunning Toroni beach for a swim, another stop is a port and town called Neos Marmaras and then the lovely Turtle Island.

We enjoyed our holiday and we would definitely stay at Loli village again.

Great value for money, amazing location and gorgeous beaches.

Apartment basic but clean. Not like a sauna which did worry us after reading some reviews. In fact it was the opposite and very cool at night, but we did go late in the season. Pool was lovely, but music was booming out so not relaxing at all. Beach therefore won every day. Greek night was disappointing. Not an olive or feta in sight which is staple greek cuisine. Pile of burnt pork and a burger was not what we were expecting. 1/2 carafe of wine each should have come with the food, but waitress bought half and said she would bring the rest over later so it didnt go warm, which is fair enough. When we got it later, it was different wine (retsina I think) and was undrinkable, so we swapped for red. At the end of the night we were asked to pay for the extra wine, but we refused to pay, and they accepted this. The entertainment was good and the dancers got everybody involved, so we did enjoy the night overall. Reception staff very miserable and seemed to treat Serbian guests completely differently. When we asked a question, the older lady never even looked up when answering. Its such a shame as the location was good, but when you're in the hospitality business, you have to be hospitable!!

Apartment was on 3rd floor, and was like a sauna, heat hit you as opened the front door, we didn't have any air con- which we have since discovered that was because we were traveled with Thomas cook, Other apartments on complex have air con though.
We stayed there last week of August- 1st week of September so temp' even at night was still up in the 70's our apartment was god knows how hot, but sleeping was n ear impossible. we ended up hiring 2 fans from reception which cost 20 euros each for 1 week.
My tip would be- if you're staying longer than one week in a non air con apartment- go and buy a fan-can buy the big floor standing ones for 27 euros down along the main road- just past Mamos bar/ internet cafe.
The apartment was plenty big enough for the 3 of us, and had a table and chairs, fridge with small freezer compartment, 2 ring hob, and they also provide towels too.
The pool area has a little area of the pool for younger children, and the pool itself was plenty big enough. The pool area is all wooden decked, and can get slippery. We saw 2 kids who were running- slip and fall heavily on it. It also gets too hot to walk on bare footed. The pool bar sells drinks, ice creams, and hot snacks which came with fries too, and were ideal for lunch times. The pool bar staff were very friendly.

stayed at loli village for one week in august .The apartments were ok apart from the bathroom which did smell a bit ,and was very hot,the shower was not much use but it did stay on the wall unlike our neighbours. The swimming pool seemed to be full of serbians and bulgarians who seemed to enjoy throwing a ball at each other as hard as they could must be a sport in those countries. The pool side bar was pretty quiet but when its 10 and a half euros for a vodka and orange and a pint of the local lager its not surprising.I found the local food very poor ,had one decent meal all week that was in the old part of the town. The rest of Pefkohori was a bit shabby and tired looking.Ordered a mackeral salad for dinner one day by the beach and got a plate of cheese in oil,and then was told it was fish?.Overall found the resort not very nice and wont be going back.

Room Tip: ask for a room with air con

Stayed at the Ioli Village for one week in August 2012 - the apartments were fine and what you expect when self-catering in Greece. We had a one bedroom apartment which was a good size, however there was NO air-conditioning and the room was almost impossible to sleep in. We did hire a fan from reception for 20 euros for the week which helped but it was still uncomfortable. We also hired a safety deposit box in reception and found this quite expensive at 25 euros for the week! The resort of Pefkohori was not very exciting, targeted and frequented by (majority) Serbians and Bulgarians, hardly any English people at all. I understand Thomas Cook (who we travelled with) will not be doing flights to Halkidiki in 2013 at all! We did not eat in the restaurant at the Ioli Village however we did eat at the pool bar and found this to be okay for lunch times. Food in the village of Pefkohori was quite depressing, lots of restaurants however they all had roughly the same menu and none of them were remotely authentic or Greek! We preferred to get a taxi in the evenings (6 euros each way) to Hanioti which was livelier and had a wider choice of restaurants where we did have a few good meals. All in all, these apartments are fine - however I would not recommend Halkidiki in general, despite the beautiful beaches!

Cosy and cheap apartments, very benevolent staff, but if your windows go out to the pool, there is quite loud music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays approximately till 12:00 pm. I would like to express special thanks to Irina on reception for her help and responsiveness.
