“Nice Lake Toya View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

All the rooms are Lake Toya view, and the onsen also has nice lake view.
The breakfast and dinner place is at the same restaurant, buffet style. try to avoid the peak time as there may be many tour groups there and will be crowded.

My wife and I stayed here for one night as part of our tour round Hokkaido South. In hindsight, I would choose this hotel for its spectacular view of the lake and Mt Yotei and evening fireworks from the room and its location right on the lakeside promenade. The room was spacious and quite clean but decorations need a revamp in my view. We simply could not get the aircon to work so had to open the window at night. Onsen was average. The buffet dinner was disappointing in quality and choice despite being slightly better than the one we had the night before in a large onsen hotel in Noboribetsu. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed the afternoon stroll along the promenade (having taken some excellent photos taken of the cherry blossom, the lake and Mt Yotei) and viewing the evening fireworks on the lake which was very good for a locally organised event.

We booked 2 rooms at Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lake Side Terrace and stayed there for 2 nights. We booked non-smoking rooms but that in a smoking hallway didn’t really make the difference. The room was good, clean, spacious, 2 beds and tatami living room, toilet and bath. Dinner in the room however was a bit disappointing. It was very nicely presented, many different courses, but it was not great in taste, the fish and shrimp sashimi for example.

But the next morning we woke up and saw the view, we wowed, and realized the view of the lake is probably the reason that people choose this hotel. Our room was in front of the lake and mountain, and with snow it was just amazing. Breakfast buffet was average, but with many choices. The public bath for women was full of people during evening time, but in the morning few were there, so it was very nice to enjoy the bath in the morning.

The hotel is located in an area where convenient stores and some shops are within walking distance. So if you care about the view and convenience of the hotel, then you won’t be disappointed with Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lake Side Terrace. If you have a car, you may want to have dinner somewhere else. Lastly, do book a non-smoking room if you are not a smoker, but do expect the smell of smoke in the hallway.

Room Tip: pick the room facing the lakes. have dinner outside of the hotel if you have a car.

we took up the half board plan for this room. The room was spacious and had a good view of the lake from the room. everything was find about the hotel other than the food itself. It seems that the hotel targets the Mainland Chinese market that the buffet looks more like a chinese buffet with some japanese items rather than a japanese buffet with some chinese items. I was expecting more japanese cuisine rather than chinese cuisine.

Room Tip: beware of "chinese" buffet.

rooms were very old and rundown - everything looked kinda mouldy. We didn't manage to get a room with lake view, so couldn't watch the fireworks from room

very easy access from the hotel to the promenade overlooking the lake, and it's also near the pier where the fireworks sightseeing boat is docked

the included buffet breakfast and dinner (at restaurant Stella Maris) were very good, wide selection, plenty of seats.

lots of guests so the onsen can get very crowded

one more thing, some of the rooms at the far ends are not connected by a flat corridor so there are some areas where you may need to carry your luggage up stairs (within the same level) which was a really bad design and particularly so for us as we had heavy pieces of luggage

beds were a decent size and rooms were very roomy

bathroom fittings were very old and it's difficult to control the water temperature

upon checkout, there's an "onsen area tax" of 600 yen

mixed experience here, they should get renovated!

Room Tip: tried calling up to request for a lakeview room but they spoke little to no english (same experience...

Spend a night the hotel with the family in the Japanese style room.
As a whole , the room are huge and is very comfortable for the younger ones.
However, older generation might complains that sleeping on the floor is hard for them to get up of bed.

My room comes with good view of the lake and is very good to view the fireworks over the lake at night.

The restaurant "Stella Maris" offers buffet, but I would advise you to book before going for your meals. There are many group tours in the hotel so, if you go at a "wrong" timing, you will have to rush for tables and food with a large group of people.

There and 2 Onsen for man and one for woman.
The man onsen is large enough to meet the needs of many people there.

This is one hotel and location, I would like to return to explore more around that area.
1 day is sure too short.

Room Tip: The rooms around 659 or 559 is great if you want to see the nightly firework. I would suggest 559 a...

We stayed at T.Manseikaku previously in May 2010. It was rather comfortable and efficient then... so we thought it would be a good idea to introduce our friends to this magnificent hotel located on Lake Toya. We reserved 2 double rooms for May 2013.

Overall, hotel gave the impression of efficiency. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed by the lack of maintenance and service especially at the Onsen/Spa area for the Ladies. Almost 80% of the shower/bathing taps were faulty: some had water gushing/flowing non-stop from taps, quite a few had the lack of "shower power", i.e. water sprays were weak and could not dispense enough water even to wash one's face.

Almost all the face washing dispenser were empty, initially we thought it could have been due to earlier bathers who might have finished-off the washing gel. Unfortunately, this was not so... the dispensers were still empty the next morning and water was still gushing-out non-stop. We even spotted dislodged tiles at the onsen pool itself.

Rooms were clean & neat and we were given corner ground floor rooms overlooking the lake, which were fine but viewing the fireworks at this level was not as interesting when compared to our last stay, we had a room on a higher floor. We had to walk quite a distance to the Onsen area as I believe, the 2 corner rooms assigned were in the East Wing?

Both dinner and breakfast were served "viking/buffet" style, which was convenient and dining room was large and spacious as well.

Room Tip: Request for rooms at higher floors - lake facing and located not too far from Onsen area.
