We stayed in the Japanese style 8-10 jo room for one night.
This hotel is considered in a good location near to the Toya lake. It is possible to walk to this hotel from the bus terminal (which goes to the JR Toya station) - however, it was a long walk. We did that when we arrive. Probably about 15 walks with some narrow pedestrian walkways along the driveway. It is advisable to take a taxi (JPY 530) if you have heavy bags - we did that when we check out.
Having said that, it is in a very good location to enjoy lake Toya. Just right next to the lake Toya, although not "central". "Central" as in where the cruise, boats and shops are located - about 10-15 mins walk along the wide pedestrian walkway around the lake. I think some bigger hotels are not "walkable" to these busy places. Just a few minutes walk is the water jet playground.
We rented bicycles and it was really easy to ride on the wide pedestrian walkway around the lake. We love the relaxing atmosphere around the lake.
The staff there don't speak English - apart from a few basic words. They do have a simple English instructions printed regarding meals, etc. They told us where to rent the bikes (just in front of the bus terminal). They helped us to call for taxi when we check out. They put up the futons in the evening. We have no issue with their service.
The room is large. It is tatami room. The lake view from the large window is beautiful and the indoor terrace has hotel chairs and table to sit and enjoy the view. It felt comfortable. There was no electric kettle or pot however there was a bottle of thermal hot water pot - similar experience we had in another onsen hotel. It has almost everything I needed in hotel room, except body and hair shampoo. There was only a small hand soap cube. Be prepared to take your shower at the public bath, or do with the hand soap, or bring your own shampoo.
The dinner was large Japanese set meal served at their restaurant. The food was ready on table labeled with room number at 6pm. So, it is good to take the dinner as early as possible. We were there by about 6:15pm since we had to catch the firework cruise later. The restaurant was comfortable and the food was nice. They only had the cold dishes on the table ready. When we were seated, they turned on the burner for the hot pot and served the other hot dishes.
The breakfast was buffet type, or they called it viking. I think it was not free flow - you get fixed portions. There were not many choices but it was sufficient.
The place was not manned and their was not lockers - you leave your belongings in a basket. So, bring minimal. The bath is large and there is outdoor bath too. Shampoos provided for shower.
A really relaxing place and convenient location. Like it a lot.
