“Lovely guests and great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2011 via mobile

(Im from Paris so my English is poor lololol) My son and I have been there for a week-end begin of July and it was amazing !! Crepes and blueberry sauce for breakfast and a good cafe (Thumbs up to Bob and his cafe) wow ! The room was so beautiful and comfortable. I heard that in the Georgian Bay there is no need of an air conditioning and believe it or not it's true ! At night the lake wind cool down the place so it's very comfortable !! Maria gave us all the tips and tricks to have fun in Tobermory and we add a lot !

I recommend this B&B !!

Directly upon arrival we were greeted by Maria who shared her enthusiasm for the area with us. Rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfasts were delicious, copious and creative. I loved the European coffee prepared by Bob and Maria's scones were excellent not to mention the lovely crepes we had on our first morning! Our guests from the UK were impressed by the quality of service offered and wondered how one would find such a lovely location. The trip was a great success. Merci a vous tous!

Coffee was terrific! We enjoyed our very nicely decorated Burgundy Suite. Maria gave us excellent tips to make our trip what it was: perfect!

We stayed three nights here and enjoyed every moment of it.

The accommodation was very comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. Homecooking right before our table, scones that were to die for.

Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, offering us lots of good tips and suggestions for sightseeing.

We would definitely want to go back there again.

A great get-away from a big city.

We stayed at 2 B&B' s during our stay July 14-16. This one had a bigger room, most comfortable mattress and a pretty convenient location although not on the water. The hosts were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to recommend sights and restaurants. Breakfast was very good, homemade scones and crepes! Delicious! Would definitely stay again.

Let me preface this post by saying that the owner's of this B&B really are very nice and genuine people. I almost feel guilty about writing this sort of review because of that but I felt that other's (who use Trip Advisor as much as I do to book vacations) deserved fair warning.

When I started out planning a trip to Tobermory for our group (for two couples) I stumbled across Molinari's website. I did my due diligence, reviewing their website and room descriptions/pictures. I then went one step further and looked for reviews here on Trip Advisor. I read nothing but fantastic things about this B&B and thus decided to go ahead and book.

I had several conversations with the owner's during the booking process, not once was it mentioned that one of the room's we were being given was a child's room with BUNK BEDS. I was asked if we would mind sharing a bathroom with our friends (the other couple), to which I agreed, but never to bunk beds.

Fast forward to our arrival, we were taken on a tour of our rooms and to our collective shock, the second room did not look like any of the three I had seen on the website. This room was furnished with bunk beds, granted the bottom bed was technically a twin size but regardless this was completely inappropriate to offer. This bunk bed room was situated on the other side of a locked door which was clearly intended to separate the owner's personal space from that of guests. So in a nutshell, the owner's had clearly converted their child's room into a guest room temporarily to accommodate more guests (and pull in more money). This bunk bed room is also not published anywhere on their website.

Making matters worse, the couple we with are expecting and our friend is 6 months pregnant...there was no a/c in the place, no side tables, TV or any kind of amenities present in this bunk bed room they were given. This room was also $100 a night, a whopping $25 cheaper than the room my husband and I were in (captain's room) which was $125 a night.

We tried to make the best of things and enjoy the rest of our weekend in Tobermory but couldn't help but feel awkward every time we returned to the B&B. We were clearly in the owner's personal living space and even though we were told to use the family room at our leisure, we were given clear signs (silent treatment the following morning!) that they were actually not accepting of this.

To top it off they have two large German Shepherd dogs. Luckily we were a group of dog lovers and so we didn't have issues with the dogs wandering around the house. However, I could only imagine how someone who was not a dog person would feel about this. On one night in particular the dogs met us at the door barking loudly after we returned from dinner, it was only after the owners called them upstairs that we were able to make our way into the house. The dogs were also permitted to hang around the kitchen area during breakfast, which we didn't feel was appropriate for obvious hygienic reasons. The dogs were shedding quite a bit and we found hair throughout the house over the weekend (in the 'common area', kitchen, hallways, etc).

The breakfast offered was decent but not great. We were left guessing as to what was included and what was not at times....meals were served in their large industrial kitchen which was appointed with cafe tables. It seemed as though some guests were offered options that other's were not.

I will admit that there were some things Molinari's did well. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The owner's also gave very detailed information for touring the Tobermory area and we found this to be quite helpful. Perhaps with some changes going forward this B&B will develop into something better but at the current time this is not a place I would recommend. For $100 a night you can stay at any one of the local motels, have your own private bathroom, a/c, a view of the water and most importantly NO bunk beds.

We appreciate feedback and constructive inputs from our customers. We think it is a real privilege because they are taking their precious time to make comments. It permits us to improve our services and becoming better and better.

That being said, that room is not part of our regular offering. You do not even see it on our web site. It is a new room and we thought that it would be convenient to have a bunk bed (double size bed for the first level and single size bed on the top). The first reading of this comment tells us that we were wrong because the client may think it is for children. Our intend is to provide a back-up solution for people who gets the Captain Room for having additional accommodation on demand. We already remove the top (single size bed) of the bunk bed in order to think it is for adults. This room has been added in order to accommodate more people on exceptional basis. Actually this room is not for our child because he is sleeping on the third floor where all our family rooms are located.

As far the breakfast are concerned, all our customers have the opportunity to appreciate Maria's talent for cooking.

For the rest of it, we will leave it to our customers to appreciate their stay at the Molinari's B&B.

Meanwhile, we are certainly looking for continuous improvements. And our B&B is in the center of our hearts and it does touch us personally. We definitively want to bring our offer and services to an upper level. This is why your feedback is a present for us. Your satisfaction is directly connected to our hearts and minds. You do care for us :)

Never having stayed in a B&B before but having some idea of what we could expect after speaking with others regarding their varying experiences, we booked our stay at Molinari's in Tobermory.
All i can say is that it was wonderful. The hosts were friendly and helpful, providing us with as much information and comfort as possible. We stayed in the "Captain's Room" and simply loved it. We had our own entrance, a large walk-in area with shelves, a clothes closet and a private bathroom. The room included TV, wireless internet, microwave, coffee maker, hairdryer, 2 bathrobes. Plus we had access to outdoor swinging hammocks, a BBQ and an outdoor patio.
The common (indoor) area is the breakfast kitchen, which is fully loaded with almost anything you might want. Breakfast is not self-served, but rather prepared by the hosts, we had crepes with fresh blueberry sauce - yummy!
The B&B is about 5-10 walking minutes from all the action, which is perfect. It made for nice quiet evenings, away from the bustle, but close enough to walk.
The room was tastfully decorated, very clean and comfortable. The bed was a little soft for me, but not a deal-breaker. I've had many a hotel bed that I found exceedingly hard. A great place to stay and good value. When we go to Tobermory, Molinari's will be our first choice.

Room Tip: If you're staying at Molinari's, we recommend the Captain's Room.
