“Blue Heron Cruise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We took the tour long weekend of August. We were a party of 14 and tried to book over the phone three days advance. The booking exeprience was not exciting. We experienced a great communication gap between the booking agents. At the scheduled time of boarding 330pm (at Tobermory) the boat was late due to weather, but we were told that island time would not be reduced. Despite such assurance we quicky toured the island and returned to the dock (Flowerpot island) at 520 pm and sat on the benches awaiting announcment. None of us heard any announcement for 530 boat and when we apporoached the staff a bit later, they told us the boad had gone and we missed. The staff continued to argue and commented that person who told us that island time would not be affected lied to us. The staff assured that they would put us on next boat, but they did not accomodate us on any other boats. It was a great hassel to get back to main island. We feel that announcement system was poor, the staff was unfriendly and uncaring type. Overall experience was not good at all and did not provide value to us.

“Worth a trip to flowerpot island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

Overall, we really enjoyed our time on flowerpot island, it's a beautiful area. However, we thought the shipwreck viewing portion of the trip to be a waste of money, given that everybody rushed to one side and therefore we couldn't see much. The guide gave us zero information on the wrecks, and instead directed everybody to a small information poster. It is completely stupid to ask 100+ people to crowd around one poster. Lastly, the boats were late, and we were left waiting on the island for half an hour. Despite this, I would still recommend a trip , but pass on the shipwrecks. Bring sunscreen and a picnic lunch for maximum fun :)

“Take the express”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

The online booking experience with Blue Heron leads to some confusion. We booked the "glass bottom" boat only to find out that there was no glass bottom.
The so-called glass bottom boat may have once actually had a glass bottom but that's no longer the case. It's a bigger boat and thus can take more passengers to Flower Pot Island. This is great for Blue Heron but not for you.
You pay roughly the same amount as you would for the express tour but watch as the express boat speeds past you to the island and lets off the passengers who boarded after you but arrive sooner. After the express boat -- a jet boat that can move in more shallow water -- shuttles its passengers to the dock, it returns to deeper water to come along side the big boat and take its passengers back to the same dock. Thus you pay for the privilege of transferring to the boat you likely should have been on to begin with. The express also offers its riders the same view of the sunken ships in Little Tub Harbour. There really is little advantage to being on the big boat unless the express is sold out.

“Friendly staff & fun trip :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

Took a ride out to Flower Pot island with our 5yr old son. The staff were very friendly and gave a great tour of the sunken boats.
On the way back, they turned the boats around and stopped to show us a rare sighting of a Bald Eagle who was nesting on the island!
Thanks for the great sighting!!!!

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We have gone on all several excursions over the years with these folks and they have been great! Certainly worth the money. The ships or boats were clean and not over crowed. Our favorite was the trip to the flower pot island. This is a must do if you like to hike around, trails are well kept.
