“Always something great in this shop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Much of the inventory is Asian made, but is available in a good range of sizes including larger. Styles and designs are unusual and colorful and range from very casual to very eclectic. Occasionally you, please find something made there such as necklaces with an oddity of items strung on them or fantastic sweater coats crafted from dozens of pieces of recycled woolens and fantastic buttons, bells pom poms or whatever else has caught the artist's fancy. Completely one of a kind, not inexpensive but worth every cent in conversation value alone. Wish I had got one!

“Not the same”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

The restaurant has changed hands, it is not Mermaids Secret any more, and the food is not the funky healthy fare that it used to be. The new name is the much less appealing "Sharkies Grill" and the food, though OK, is less imaginative and more commonplace. The Mermaid store is still next door and remains a place to find interesting and unusual gifts and purchases.

“restaurant likely now called Sparkies”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

The retail store at Mermaid's Secret is still open. Besides being a wonderful place for shopping, this is one of the few places to buy smoked, frozen or fresh fish. If you want bargains wait 'til the fall. I have some great t shirts from there. One is purple with sparkling fairies on it. The restaurant is now under a different operator.Perhaps it is called Sparkies? I sat out on the deck upstairs the other day and enjoyed the meal cooked by chef Marko.
I like Mermaid's Secret when I want funky gifts and Sparkies, for what it is, a great place to hang out and people-watch on a sunny day.
