“Hidden Little Secret”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

We spent a week holiday at this resort, which has been an incredible experience!

This resort had catered to every expectation, even the ones we never knew we had. The attention to detail and sincere service from the staff made it even more of a delight to settle in and climatise into this paradise.

Our journey to the island wasn't the best, but this was in no fault or control of the hotel. Our transfer flight from Male to the island was consistently delayed by bad planning and management from the airline, Maldivian Air, once we finally could bed down a final departure time and arrived at the resort, our luxury holiday begun. The manager Manoj, had apologized for the inconvenience and assisted in making the mishap by the airline a thing of the past, big thanks to him and his team for thinking of the bigger picture and going beyond the resorts mandate of having take accountability for a 3rd party's actions. (Not very often you get to experience this level of service)

We were immediately greeted with a warm welcomed by our villa host, Sunna, who ensured that our stay through out the holiday was comfortable and effortless. We assigned a sunrise water villa, and after having reading the review tips on tripadvisor before our holiday, we weren't too sure if we were entirely satisfied by our location. That all dissipated as we went on with our holiday, this is why :

- Sunrise villa affords you a lot more privacy and seclusion verse the sunset villa's, as the sunset villa's face out towards the Infiniti pool and saltwater bar section.
- Sunrise villa's also provide a sense of relief, after spending endless hours in the sun all day, on your return to your villa there's enough shade on your deck to help you kick back and relax.

At the end of the day, it all depends on what your preference.

We also spent a lot of time indulging in all the activities and amnenities the resort has to offer :

SPA AND GYM
- the complimentary jet lag flight massage was amazing and enough to convince us to return out of our own accord.
- once again, the consistency of the service to dazzle and delight, was experienced and big hanks to Rai and the personal trainer in the gym (yes, the gym has a resident personal trainer, who is quite informed and passionate about what he does)

WATERSPORTS
- we kayaked, water paddled, ski'd and went on a catamaran trip.
- AGAIN, humble and sincere service from the guys at the centre, with a special mention of Usman, who entertained our dry sense of humour and conversation.

SCUBADIVING CENTRE
- very professional set up.
- had a charismatic instructor, Danny, oh who was another extension of the resorts high service level.
- divide in the resorts house reef, which was also my first proper diving experience, it did not disappoint, even though Danny wasn't entirely satisfied with visibility, which could have fooled me.

MALDIVIAN FISHING TRIP
- this was the only activity which wasn't at the high level of ..... We had become accustomed to.
- basically, the trip entailed getting on a traditional Maldivian boat, been given our bait and twine and then advised to cast it into the water
- think the overall experience could have been better if we're briefed initially as to what to do and expect ie:
- what sort of fish we were looking to catch
- what bait we were using and why
- depth of water we had set sailed to
- what influences the migration of the fish and why exactly did settle we did to fish
- tips and methods on increasing our chances of catching something

Overall it was a nice to do activity, not too sure if the fact that we also never caught anything is influencing my opinion. FYI, a few if the other passengers did manage to catch fish, 2 of them to be exact, with one managing to hook a reef shark.

RESTAURANTS AND POOLS
We loved the setting and the service of every restaurant and pool, MEDIUM RARE stood out as the best, with the food always been on point and a lot more value for money.
- Amazon pool is a nice hidden retreat on the island, but our personal preference was more tempted by the Infiniti pool, this choice was made very difficult.

Once again I would like to extend our extreme gratitude to Phillipe and his team, for making this a truly unforgettable experience and inspiring us with their eager to please, humble and sincere service and attitude.

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for choosing our resort as your holiday destination in Maldives and your very detailed and positive review of our resort facilities, service and team members. It was very helpful and motivating for all of us who are dedicated to crafting the extraordinary service to all our guests.

I was very sad to hear that your trip to the resort was not smooth. Maldivian Air is a government owned company and we do not have any influence on their quality of service and punctuality. Thus, we are very sorry your flight got delayed.

Our marine team on the boats sometimes is very shy to speak to the guests and we are currently training them to overcome their shyness. I hope that if next time we will be able to welcome you at Beach House Iruveli, you will be pleasantly surprised with their service.

Once again, thank you for your aspiring feedback on Beach House Iruveli and we look to welcome you very soon on our paradise island again.

Warm regards,

Philippe Lamadieu

I went to spend their honeymoon in this amazing resort.
Since the first moment until the last moment I enjoyed everything. Great service and great facilities.
I would like to thank our host, Mr. Rashid, Fiona, tek, and the hotel manager with his beautiful spirit he is fan of Juventus FC like me , he has told me that he had watched Agnelli give the green light to sign the great platini ! how much is this amazing !
I advise everyone to visit this hotel , the restaurants and events do not make you feel boring at all. The watersport and the massage everything perfict.
I have been involved in the fishing trip and the atmosphere was not suitable for fishing, so no one could catch anything, so we are not happy, but the hotel had to cancel fees ($ 100 per person) and it was a good gesture from them .

Food was absolutely fantastic (lobster or wagyu beef at every meal if you feel like it), cocktails were very creative (and relatively cheap during happy hour) and our privacy was well respected by our villa host, who knew how to help without being overbearing.
Snorkling was great too, swimming with turtles is always a nice experience....
But the most amazing part of this trip was still the villas. We were in an ocean villa, with its private swimming pool (but I think all villas have a private pool) and nice hammoc above the ocean. Here we were, sipping a glass of champagne, watching the sunset and thinking it doesn't get any better than this...

Room Tip: Sunset ocean or water villas. Also prefer the sea plane to the local flight.

The Beach House at Iruveli is paradise found. My wife and I have spent many happy holidays in the Maldives, but this is the first time she has shed a tear on leaving.

What is different about Beach House? It has all the usual attributes of a Maldivan holiday... deserted beaches of fine coral sand, individual cabanas, azure seas etc etc. However there were two things that set Beach House apart.

Firstly the aesthetic quality of the cabanas themselves. From the spa like quality of the outdoor bed, plunge pool, shower and bathroom - all at the rear of the property - through the room width sliding doors into the bedroom with its capacious ceiling height, raised above a comfortable seating area, and looking out through panoramic glass doors onto your veranda past your thatched swing bed to the lagoon and sea beyond - it all works together beautifully.

The second thing was the care and friendliness of the staff and GM. We were delighted by the balance they struck between engaging and giving us space - and everyone was happy and charming. We will go back, for sure.

Notes: the Beach House seaplane is much more comfortable than the normal Maldivan Air Taxi services. There are three restaurants, all are fine and two bars for sundowners. Drinks are expensive; but that is common to all Maldivan hotels.

A word of warning... if you look like you might have played rugby, they have a regular staff vs management beach rugby game at sunset twice a week... great fun but don't forget how old you really are!

Room Tip: We stayed in a beach villa which we were very happy with.

First of all I just want to make it clear I highly recommend this resort! There are just some things I would have liked to have known before booking...
We stayed in the sunset view water bungalow, our room was stunning & incredibly comfortable.
Upon arriving we were welcomed by staff & the hotel owner which was wonderful after a long trip, we were taken straight to our room which was also fantastic.
For the first half of the trip we had Solah look after our room. I cant thank him enough he did such a good job & was so helpful! He also did the most beautiful decorations on our bed, it would have taken him a long time & was such a wonderful surprise when we got back to our room.
I would recommend paying extra & getting a sea plane transfer as it is a long trip doing the speed boat + a domestic flight (we did it both ways) On the domestic flight you have a stop to let some passengers off also. However on the positive side we had dolphins swim next to our speed boat and they stopped so we could take pictures.
Positives: Beautiful resort, water colour is out of this world, good snorkelling, well kept rooms, lovely staff & food is incredible! We were suprised how lovely the buffet was the chef there does an incredible job & put together a wonderful easter dessert selection for guests
Negatives or could be improved: We were very disappointed to find out that the activities listed on their facebook page are ONLY if there are enough people who want to do them. We were very excited to be there for the chocolate & champagne tasting & even made sure we were there for it. Only to find out there were not enough numbers & it was cancelled. Same goes for the snorkelling trips etc. We were disappointed on the snorkelling trip as it was meant to be three hours and it was only just over 2 hours. If you are trying to cut costs I would recommend snorkelling off the jetty I found it much better than the trip we did. Obviously been a 5 star resort activites are expensive, my husband wanted to do the deep sea fishing trip however finding out it was $2000 US dollars we decided against it.
We went to both Medium Rare & Saffron for dinner I highly recommend the food & service however on the Saturday night we waited over one hour between entree & main, this also happened at Saffron. We cancelled our dessert as we had been waiting too long in between meals. When we went mid week this didn't happen however.
Happy hour is 9-10pm which we thought was too late, much more fun to have it earlier before dinner. Also we missed happy hour several times as we took so long waiting for our meals.
In summary a stunning resort with excellent service we would recommend doing half board as it was an extra $1000 to do full board & we didn't spend that on lunches. Half board gives you $103 credit per person for the restaurants which just about covered our meals. Eating at the buffet is free. It is just as beautiful as the photos on the website.

Room Tip: We loved our sunset facing villa's we highly recommend this! However we were not aware that a lo...

We arrived to the resort a few days before New Year's Eve and stayed a total of 9 days. We were very fortunate with the weather, only the first two days were overcast and not a single cloud afterwards. The starry night sky was breathtaking.

Journey: The journey was very long from London but the views during the 75 mins on the seaplane from Male airport made the final part of the trip very pleasant. We received a warm reception upon arrival on the jetty and our villa manager brought us to our room on a buggy.

Room/Resort: We stayed in a water villa that had a private dipping pool, access directly to the sea and beautiful sunset views. The sea was crystal clear - could view beautiful tropical fish from our personal villa as each water villa had a glass floor window in the sitting area. We also spotted dolphins from our deck. Snorkelling was a magical experience due to the water clarity, we saw parrot fish, moray eel, sting ray, and various other schools of fish. I went diving on 2 different days, diving from 4 locations. I had an incredible experience, seeing a nurse shark, turtles, and swam with manta rays. The resort has other water sport options, I wanted to try wind or kite surfing but the wind wasn't strong enough when I was there. Despite it only taking 15-20 minutes to walk around the entire island, there was plenty to do at this resort. We enjoyed a massage at the spa which was an excellent relaxing experience.

Restaurants: The resort has very good restaurants, we loved the personal treatment from the head chef (my fiancee required special food) who would walk around and chat with the guests. The seafood theme cuisine night was very good. Alcoholic drinks and soft drinks are charged separately regardless of an inclusive meal plan. Full board plan included breakfast, 52$ credit for lunch and 108$ for dinner per person. We had most breakfasts on the deck of our water villa which incurred a $15 delivery charge each time. I would highly recommend it if you would enjoy the first light of the day and the sea beneath you while having breakfast. We had most lunches at the pool/beach bar and received excellent service from the staff at that bar/restaurant. There's a bar open at night that plays disco music with a DJ. It was quite loud at times and always empty.

Service: I can't comment enough how wonderful the service was - from the villa keeper to the villa manager and the various servers at the restaurants, namely Sam at the pool bar.

Special experience: I had decided to propose to my fiancee on this trip. The staff helped me organise an unforgettable surprise for my wife-to-be. They took us on a boat at sunset and brought us onto a deserted island where 2 waiters and a chef were waiting for us. A dinner table with candles were set up under a white, four-post canopy. Chilled champagne was served followed by a delicious 4 course dinner. As the dinner came to an end, I proposed under a spectacular sky in what my fiancee would describe as one of the most romantic experiences imaginable. When we returned back to our water villa, the staff prepared another surprise for my fiancee and myself. The bed was covered with a beautiful design of flower petals wishing Congratulations.

New Year's Eve: The resort organised a lovely evening for their guests with a live band and a few other special touches which made bringing in 2013 a very memorable experience.

Overall, an unforgettable experience in paradise...

Room Tip: I would highly recommend a water villa with sunset views. Water villas are spectacular!

We arrived by seaplane in paradise and greeted with coconut water and buggies to whisk us to our room. The rooms were well set up, perhaps starting to look a little tired for a 5* hotel but had all we could have asked for. The beaches were very quiet and the sea was so clear we swan with turtles and rays, even the odd dolphin made an appearance. Sadly the service was not up to scratch, particularly noticeable at dinner time, where you would be asked the same questions by several waiters, food either arrived too quickly or slowly. On our first night we were served uncooked lobster, which being pregnant I sent back and they did replace them but with no word of an apology - it was clearly a hassle for them to deal with. We also both, despite cast iron constitutions, had upset tummies for a few days we were there, which again, you don't expect in 5* restaurants. The most disappointing aspect of the holiday was at the end when it came to settling our bill - we asked on arrival what the deal was with the half board option we were on and were told we had $103US per person, per evening - so with me not really drinking we kept our evening bills to just over $200 - we were then presented with a bill at the end of the holiday which had all of our soft and alcoholic drinks charged separately and were told half board included food only. We told the manager we had explicitly asked the question and he admitted it had been their mistake but they would not be removing anything from our bill. The manager was so smug and patronising this became a matter of principle for me and while it only added up to about $200 we were infuriated by how this was handled. We asked to see the hotel manager, who pretended to be off the island, we had seen him moments before so knew this not to be the case, he also refused to see us the morning before we left. In the end we settled out bill but with a bad taste in our mouths. Having travelled much of the world, there are few places more wonderful then the Maldives but based on service, food and quality of spa treatments I would not go back to The Beach House, nor would I recommend to others. There is so much choice, I would suggest looking around for places with the strongest reviews, as all the negative ones we had read on this hotel, sadly turned out to be accurate.
