We enjoyed three great dinners at three great restaurants on Bora Bora (and two at our hotel's restaurants), but our experience at Restaurant St. James eclipsed the others both in the quality of the food and the quality of the experience.
I emailed with Mr. Romain Marchet a few weeks in advance of our visit to secure a table and Mr. Marchet was very prompt in replying to all correspondence. We were given a private table on the patio upon arrival and greeted with champagne (as I had requested in advance since this was a birthday celebration for my wife, and the last night of our honeymoon). We enjoyed some delicious "boat drinks" while perusing the menu, utlimately deciding on the scallop carpacchio and tuna tartare to start and the spiny lobster and beef tenderloin for entrees. All four dishes were amazingly tasty and interestingly presented. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable about the menu, can't ask for much more than that. I am not a "foodie" but good food is good food and this was it...far better in my view than any hotel restaurants on Bora Bora. Do yourself a favor and skip your hotel's dinner option meal plan and spend the extra money to dine-out in Bora Bora and make an extra effort to visit Restaurant St. James. It is one of the closer restaurants to the Robert Wan dock and, like many restaruants on the island, they'll send you a free taxi. I can't say enough good things about this place from the intial email communication all the way through the meal, what a great experience!
