“Exceptional Monument To Faith”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

A most unique "monument" created on several hillsides in Lithuania by people of faith. I visited here while on a personal tour in Latvia and Lithuania. Hundred of thousands of crosses of all sizes, shapes, with messages of faith and hope left by believers.

“Really different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

You don't have to be a believer of any kind to be moved by this place. One of the strangest and most unique places I''ve seen. Crosses of all shapes and sizes from all over the world. When you reach the first hill crest and discover the other hills behind, you will be amazed! It is well worth the detour. There is a visitors center with souvenir stalls, tourist information in general, lots of crosses for souvenirs or placing on the hill, parkinglot (pay at the visitors center) and toilets (coin operated). Recommended!

“A people's monument to faith - find a way to get there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

I find it difficult to find words to adequately describe a place consecrated by the individual acts of what must be hundreds of thousands of people over decades (centuries?). Who left the first cross there and why? And what moved people by the thousands to follow suit? And how did it survive the trials of Lithuania's history? I walked away with more questions than answers, but I will say that I walked away deeply moved.
The crosses left on that hill vary from well machined large metal ones to the far more numerous simple homemade or improvised ones. This a place demonstrating the power of simple acts by individual people. You should find a way to get there
