“Relaxed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

This is an excellent hotel if you are looking for a relaxing break. Ideal for older couples or families with younger kids.

We arrived late in the evening after the restaurant was closed. The hotel had prepared a 'cold plate' for us which was much appreciated.

The hotel is only 20 minutes or so from the airport. If you are booking with a tour operator and there are 4 of you consider booking a taxi rather than booking the tour company's bus which doesn't differentiate in cost whether you are 20 minutes or 2 hours from the airport.

The hotel is c7 miles south-east of Larnaca. A local bus picks up outside the hotel every 30 minutes at takes you into the centre. Cost is 1.5 euros each way.

The service in the hotel was very good. The staff do try and help/entertain.

We (family with two teenagers) were on an all inclusive package. We have previously stayed at AI resort hotels with multiple restaurants in a number of countries. It would be unfair to compare the package on offer here with these other very large hotels. However the food was very good in the hotel - even fussy teenagers found something they liked every meal time.

The meals were all served in the main restaurant which does have some limited outdoor seating. I was a little disappointed there was not more opportunity to eat outdoors but perhaps this was due to the time of year - food was not being served at the beach bar - although the weather was great. The meals are all buffet style with plenty of choice.
The quality of the drinks, particularly juice and mixers was poor - this is a common complaint at AI hotels. However the bar staff were excellent.

Loads of free pool side sun beds at this time of the year. No need to be 'booking' with tools. The outdoor pool was freezing or colder. Very difficult to enter the water without giving out a loud gasp that drew everyone's attention. The 'beach' is pebbles rather than sand and very small. The sea is very shallow for a great distance from the shore which is great for kids. There is water sports based near the hotel which was due to close up for winter soon. The hotel is on the beach.
There is no load music at the pool - it's a very relaxing atmosphere.

There are a few supermarkets and bars across the road from the hotel.

The evening entertainment is poor - thankfully the Champs League was on TV in the bar. Highlight was the Elvis impersonator who gave it his all and was good fun. A magician seemed to go down well with the kids. There were some local dancers and two awful music acts. One act was so bad they really broke down language barriers between the different nationalities in the bar.
The hotel staff arrange afternoon activities quizzes etc which were a good excuse to head to the bar in the late afternoon and enjoyed. These cater for the English speakers although there were many nationalities in the hotel.
There is no entertainment on a Sunday.

My primary negative comment regarding the hotel was the room. We booked through Thomas Cook a room for four adults. The room was too small for 2 adults and 2 young teenagers let alone 4 adults. The room is cleaned 5 days per week - we did find the bathroom smelly.

There is a safe in the room which comes at an additional cost.

There is a gym in the hotel - it's not well equipped but then again it's not heavily used (Similarly the kids club).

If you do book through Thomas Cook - note there is no rep at the hotel and their info book contained only the most basic and generic info you could imagine. The hotel staff were very good at providing info and answering queries.

Arrival
This was our first trip to Cyprus and we were very pleased with our choice of hotel. We were greeted at reception and checked in efficiently and quickly and given an upgrade to a sea/pool view room.

Room
Our room was in the east wing of the hotel on the first floor overlooking the pool and we were close to the sea. The room was of a good size and could sleep 4 as it had 2 sofas which converted into large single beds. The room was very clean and everything such as aircon and fridge worked fine. There was a safe in the room but there was a charge of 2 Euros per day.

Facilities
The hotel is small and the facilities reflect this. There is one large main pool and a small children's pool. We preferred the wooden loungers around the pool as the beach one were metal framed and a bit less comfortable. As were were visiting in October the pool was a bit cold as it is not heated but expect it is fine in high season.

Staff
The staff are very attentive and provide great service. At meal times drinks are provided quickly and empty plates are removed from your table promptly. Service at both pool and main bars is also very good as we hardly had to wait for a drink. Special thanks go to Clara for making our stay enjoyable. She was very friendly and will sort out any problems you have.

Food
The food at the hotel was excellent. Everything we eat exceeded our expectations and was really tasty. Every evening there was a different theme varying from international, Italian, Tex-Mex, local and Asian (Indian and Chinese). Deserts were also of great quality.

Location
The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport by taxi. You can catch the local bus to Larnaca town from just outside the hotel, it take around 20 minutes and only costs 1.50 Euros each way so. The hotel is right on the beach with a nice path along the sea front where you can walk along. The sea is lovely and shallow and you can walk out a long way before getting out of you depth. This is great for children. The whole site is on the level which is great for all ages. Everything around the pool area is easily accessible as the beach, bar, pool and toilets are all close together.

Entertainment
As we were visiting out of season the hotel was very quiet which suited us well. The entertainment was low key but there was always something on. Magic show, Elvis tribute, singing duo, accordion player, and traditional local music/dancing.

Summary
We were looking for a nice quiet out of season break and that is just what we got. The majority of the guests were in their later years and there were very few children around. We would recommend this hotel to anyone particularly those looking for peace and quite but I expect things will be different in the high season. This hotel would be perfect if it had a heated pool but you can’t ask for everything can you!

Thanks go to Clara, keep up the good work!

After a late arrival, we had a pleasant greeting at the hotel, my baggage was taken to the room and a late meal of meat, cheese and bread was prepared.

However the first thing we noticed was the average age of the other guests, how quiet it was (it was not yet 10pm) and total lack of ambience.

We had been upgraded to a 'garden room' and the corridors leading to this was simply awful, spooky, dim, dark and scruffy. The room itself was ok, but definitely not 4 star, towels were thin and old and the back of the bathroom door had so much ingrained muck.

We decided to check out what was around and about the hotel as it was obvious nothing was going to happen there and over the road there are a few bars (one of which only had two rather dubious looking ladies in).

After an ok nights sleep we woke to beautiful sunshine and after breakfast headed for the beach - beach? what beach, just a concrete path and a bit of dirty sand, the sea here is also not the sparkling med that I had expected or promised.

The blurb on this hotel is not accurate, even to the point of there not being a billiard table (after asking a surly waiter where it was), everything is built up to be fantastic when in fact it was more than disappointing, no entertainment, not even music around the pool. We realised that this hotel is mainly used by Saga, and this is fine, however we feel that the hotel should be more honest on travel sites to avoid people like ourselves being disappointed, (incidentally there were some families with small children and having spoken to a couple of them, they also hated this hotel for its lack of amenities). After one day I requested a move (it was either that or go home early), and at great cost was moved to the AnMaria Hotel in Aya Napa which is subject to a separate review but a million times better that the Princess.

We felt so unwelcome at this hotel, management were obvious in their presence but no-one asked why we were unhappy, indeed they looked straight through us and did not even acknowledge us. I spent the second night (we left the following morning) crying in my room it was so bad,

In summary I feel that if you are young, younger or even young at heart stay well away from this hotel, if however you want to totally chill (and I mean totally) then you might find it the right place, money clearly has been spent on public areas but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Would I go back there? no am not in need of a nursing home quite yet.

I think the management would do well to stay at another hotel themselves to see how it should really be done, I cried when I arrived at the Princess and cried when I had to leave the Anmaria, the service there was simply fantastic, met some lovely people and whilst it was the end of the season, the different in atmosphere was massive - Princess I do not feel you have it right and took my money promising what you did not deliver

We have stayed at this hotel for the last 9 years, when it was operated by a hotel chain, and had seen a steady decline in the hotel and services over the last few years. We were a little unsure this year as the hotel is now independently owned, but were very pleasantly surprised when we were welcomed at reception on our arrival as the hotel has completely changed.
We had an excellent room that was spotlessly cleaned every day, all the staff were very friendly and the food was very high quality. There is entertainment 6 nights a week and every other Friday there are cocktails and canopees on the veranda at 6pm, where all the staff (including the behind the scenes staff) are available to chat to.
Overall this year was our best vacation at this hotel and we will return again next year

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are without doubt worth the little extra

As many other reviewers have said this hotel has wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. It does not have exciting nightlife but the vast majority of the guests I am seeing are perfectly happy without that if it were to come with loud and boorish behaviour, that might distribute others relaxation. If the management have taken a strong line on this, I for one, am delighted. I wish more hotel managers were that proactive.

During my stay most of the guests are in the 40+ age group as you might expect at this time of year. There are however, families with children and the interaction between them all is good.

The food is very good for an AI resort with lots of choice all served fresh and hot. Yes there is a little wear and tear in the rooms but I have seen a lot worse, and at this price it represents very good value. The sea view room in the main building are quietest at the ends of the corridor. These rooms end in 02, 04, etc.

I and 9 others just returned from a holiday at Princess Beach. The hotel really pulled out all the stops to make our stay there fabulous. The manager was very much hands on and spent all day wondering round the hotel ensuring everything was enjoying their stay and asking us for comments to enable him to make sure everybody was being catered for. His staff are extremely friendly and efficient. We were treated beautifully especially by the manager, Sofia on reception, Kiri the entertainments member of staff and the chef who made a point of being in the restaurant again making sure everyone was happy with the food, which was very good and there was a great selection. I would recommend this as a good holiday hotel, you will be treated very well indeed. The staff even came to say goodbye to us when we left, we were very impressed.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the bungalows but all the rooms are good

Avoid at all costs. Could be adequate for people 60 plus.
The hotel is mainly used by travel firm saga. The hotel management are homophobic. The hotel is situated with around 7 shops and bars and eateries around. Location is a lot to be desired. There is a clear rat infestation at this complex visable cleary at night time. This is not the hotel for late night people as if you take advantage of all inclusive till midnight and relax by pool site, guests will complain about the noise. The rooms are filthy see pictures attatched to review. The professional images are deceiving. Words of advice do not complain or you get evicted yet they keep your money. Horrible experience. Avoid
