“A cosy hideyhole near to the Suffolk coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We chose the White Horse as we wanted to visit Southwold and Sutton Hoo and Sibton is ideally placed about 15 miles from each. The Inn is old, characterful and cosy. The rooms are in a separate building and are very clean, comfortable and attractive with excellent tea and coffee making facilities. Ours had a bedroom, a dressing room, and bathroom with a hot and powerful shower. The star of the show was the breakfast with bowls of nuts and dried and fresh fruits, homemade bread and jams, in addition to a wide choice of cooked meals which were generous and well cooked. The pub is something of a gastropub and the evening menu consisted of large (proper) meals when I should have liked to be able order something smaller and lighter, this meant us combing the countryside for somewhere to eat in the evenings instead of settling down in front of the wood burning stove in the lovely pub on our door step. This may well not be a problem for everyone! We were made very welcome and would love to return.

With a spare weekend avaialble, my wife and I decided to visit the Suffolk coast for the weekend. After reviewing a number of places and previous visitor comments, we decided that The Sibton White Horse Inn was the one for us. All I can say is that we wern't dissappointed, Neil and Gill were very welcoming and rightly proud of their Inn. The food was lovely, the rooms were comfortable and well appointed and it was a good base for our weekend away...would definitely stay there again...!!

My husband and I have just had an extremely enjoyable weekend staying at the White Horse in Sibton, having arrived on Friday night after driving straight from work we felt the friendly and inviting atmosphere as soon as we arrived to check in. Neil and Gill our hosts were extremely friendly and we were given a lovely warm welcome, our room was spacious and comfortable and felt like a home from home. Great choice of food for dinner and we were very impressed with the freshness of ingredients, breakfast again was very impressive - all cooked fresh and tasted delicious! We will certainly return for another visit if we are in the area!

We are still trying to work out why we haven't visited before - too many good places to eat in the area, and this one is now definitely one to add to the list. We dropped in for a light lunch on the way back from Framlingham, having been passed it loads of times. And are we glad we stopped by. A warm welcome from the hosts, plenty of choice - a la carte, sandwich/light bite menu, and from the board. I chose eggs benedict - something I haven't had for years. This was beautifully presented, with local ham and eggs, a light muffin base, and gorgeous hollandaise sauce. My husband went for a roast beef sandwich, with fresh brown bread and the tastiest of beef. We also polished off two side plates (well, why not!) - crispy, flavourful onion rings and fantastic potato wedges. A glass or two of chilled Pinot Grigio, and Becks Light (three gold stars to The White Horse for having non-alcoholic beer - something that's still a rarity these days) and we headed home feeling very happy indeed. Definitely high on the list for a return fixture - very soon. Well done, The White Horse!

We have eaten, and stayed at the White Horse on several occasions, and it never fails to impress,
the food is fantastic, the service is perfect, the welcome from Neil and Gill is superb a very layed back and relaxed place,it is a pub,a great restaurant and has rooms to shame most 4* "proper" hotels and it excels at all three a rare thing indeed!!!! This pub was one of the reasons we decided to move to Suffolk,we had our first anniversary meal there yesterday and it was superb,we have had several meals at the White Horse and the worst one was very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Make the effort,Go there

Room Tip: If you can do three courses then you must be truly hungry

Myself and my Wife needed a weekend away after a stressful few weeks and were keen to find somewhere we could relax. From the moment we arrived we were given a warm welcome by Neil and Gill, who throughout the weekend couldn't do enough for us!

The Room we had was spacious, clean and very comfortable with everything we needed for our two night stay. The room included generous amounts of different types of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, chocolate biscuits and soaps and shampoo.

After seeing the menu for Dinner for our first night we quickly booked for our second night due to the amount on the menu we wanted to eat! Our meals on both nights were extremely good and, having us both worked within Hotels and Rosette Restaurants, we were incredibly impressed with the variety and standard of both the food and wine menus. Each of our dishes was cooked very well including locally found venison, pigeon and duck and were packed full of flavour. With the Hotel having its own allotment the veg and salad was all fresh and clearly picked to order. Breakfast on both mornings included locally produced sausages and bacon, with fresh home made bread being a highlight!

Finally a word on the two owners who must be thanked for seeming to always making the extra effort to make our stay as great as it was. The extra touches and all the small extras added up to a a great value and memorable stay. They constantly had time for everyone, were great with advice on the local area and run their Inn with professional standards, yet a clear family feel.

We are already planning our next visit and will be going back soon.

Neil and Gillian welcomed us as special guests and said farewell as friends. A most delightful two day stay in this picturesque inn, well positioned for interesting sightseeing in glorious Suffolk countryside. The accommodations were large, with sparkling, well equipped modern bathrooms. Our two breakfasts and two dinners were excellent, we didn't consider eating elsewhere. The hardworking owners do it all including growing their own vegetables, herbs and lovely flowers decorating the entire property. Highly recommended.
