We booked my niece's 6th birthday party here so her friends could enjoy the play area, face-painting, party food and cake that was offered with the £7.99 per child price tag. To me that's a reasonable price for everything you get in with it, but it just wasn't up to standard at all.
The room itself was really cold and dark when we arrived first of all. After that, the face painter (who turned out to be the manager) didn't come in for a while. For a party of 17 children who only get 2 hours to play they were cutting it fine. By the time they brought the food in (cheese sandwiches, chips, nuggets etc), only 2 kids had had their faces done.
When the children had eaten, it was left to myself and my sister to clean up. The food plates and trays were all piled up everywhere. Bearing in mind the price includes staff members to do all this themselves, I thought it was pretty poor service. By the time the kids got their desserts there was only 40 minutes left of the party to go, plus the kids got bored waiting and went off to play again. The dessert, when it came (and we had herded all the kids down from the play gym again) was one small scoop of vanilla ice cream with no toppings or anything, just one plain scoop. When they brought the cake in there was less than 10 minutes to go before we had to leave as our time was up. Eventually my sister found the manager who did knock some money off the price, which was good, but the standard of service was shoddy really.
They did manage to get the other children's faces painted in the end, once another girl had joined in and rushed to get through them all.
All in all I really expected to have a hassle free time given that we were paying quite a bit to keep the hassle out of it, but that wasn't what we got. The manager was lovely and sorted it out, but the other members of staff weren't so helpful and didn't really know what to do.
