“You don't leave hungry.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Visited for the first time early March with my husband and a friend. We just wanted to have something 'Light' so we opted for salads. My friend had the black pudding salad starter as a main, and both my husband an I had the chicken salads. We had a little while to wait as it was busy, but it was well worth it. Looking back, I think I would have been better with the starter size as they were all very large. We would have loved to have had puddings, but alas we had no room for one. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. Recommended this to another friend, who coincidentally wrote the previous review after her visit.

“Great food, good atmosphere, friendly staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Went early (12.15pm) on 15.3.13 on our first visit here for over 20 years on the recommendation of friends, to find the place already nearly full! Great friendly welcome from staff and landlady. We both had the Braised Beef (£10.95) which came in huge dishes and was fantastic - just the job for a cold Friday lunchtime. Meat was really tender, vegetables not squishy, chips and jacket potato perfect. And the Becks was lovely and cold. Top notch. Will definitely be back again.

“Always first class!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

We go here maybe four or five times a year, and have done for the last I-don't-know-how-many-years. The menu is plentiful, including meat, fish and vegetarian, as well as the specials, but if it's busy, and as everything is cooked to order, you must be prepared to wait.
It's worth waiting for.
In all the years we have been going we haven't had a bad meal yet. The portion sizes are large, but for several dishes they do half-sizes which is totally adequate for me. Trevor and Jane are so genuinely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Trevor wears shorts and sandals all year round, so not your typical pub landlord, but that is not to say he is a warm, friendly and enthusiastic host! And if we mention it is a special occasion he is immediately on hand.
Not the cheapest of places, but worth every penny. And you definitely get what you pay for! If you're looking for burger and chips, then go somewhere else, but if you want good quality food, then this is the place to go.

“A great Sunday lunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

I visited The Three Horse Shoes today as a group of 4, on the recommendation of a workmate. We all had a starter and a Sunday lunch and not one of us had a complaint!

The Sunday lunches were brilliant and we'll definitely be back. Great food and huge portions. I'm not usually a fan of pub Sunday lunches as you usually end up with a plate of dry meat and soggy veg. But this was definitely not the case here - great crackling with the pork too!

The pub was heaving too - which is always a good sign - so make sure you book!
