“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

About 35km outside Marrakesh at the edge of the Atlas mountains, this place is it's own mini oasis. Lush gardens, delicious food, small pool, and run the most friendly, hospitable and helpful people you could wish for.

There's a lovely friendly yellow Labrador that wanders about and wags his tail, and in the evenings there's something of a concert given by the resident frogs, crickets and birds. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

We spent 9 days in the Mamouchthka. Beautiful garden, service with a smile, delicious food and we were guided personally by the owners, twice to Marrakesh and once up to the waterfalls in the Ourika valley, as well as helped with shopping, bartering not being our thing. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated in Moroccan style and breakfasts copious and traditional. We were served afternoon mint teas, along with Moroccan pastries, by the pool. We were lucky enough to be able to choose our evening meals, mostly cooked by Berber staff, and our dietary requirements were taken into account at all times. We did a quad trip up into the hills, which was a wonderful experience, as the scenery up there is beautiful. The family also farm near Casablanca, meaning many of the vegetables, as well as chickens and eggs, are home produced.

Room Tip: There are just five bungalows in a row, so no real difference...

As someone previously wrote if you want an ordinary holiday, then this is not the place for you. However, if you like an out of the way place, that offers a friendly welcome and excellent accommodation then you've come to the right place. The gardens are lucious and are obviously tended with loving hands and grow the salad for your lunch and the citronelle for your cup of Moroccan tea. The sequadas and bull frogs serenade you every night!

The bedrooms are tradionally furnished and offer a very high level of comfort and cleanliness. We ate both nights at the guest house and had a traditional tagine which was to die for! Also the typical Moroccan salad.

Big thanks to Denise, Mahmet and Fatima for making us so welcome.

My friends and I were taken to visit the beautiful Mamouchthka to go quad biking into the mountains and visit a lovely Berber family.
Our whole experience at Mamouchthka was amazing! The only part we regret is that we were only there for one day. The rooms were spacious and really homey, and the food was great!
If you stay here and want to take a break from the pool and relaxing, you cant miss quad biking! the experience is fun & exhilarating and meeting the Berber family cannot be missed!

We would definitely recommend staying at Mamouchthka, and cannot wait to go back.

If you're the type of person who wants an ordinary vacation, find another place. But if you value excellent food made by an extremely enthusiastic French couple Davy and Annie and their friendly Moroccan staff combined with very nice rooms with a perfect view of the Atlas Mountains, pick this place. The really special thing about this place is that you are in constant dialogue with Davy about what to see and do. He showed us around in the area at very reasonable prices, and he and his wife Annie treated us as family members which meant we had dinner together every evening - also with their little daughter. Davy is the perfect host in the sense that he knows a lot about Morocco so staying there is also a way to get to know the country. The place consists of several very nice bungalows with individual terraces, a beautiful garden, a restaurant and also a swimming pool. You can make wonderful walks from there to the mountains and to a nearby local village.

Davy and Annie made sure my stay at their place was a pleasure. Especially the rooms were of great quality (both material and service). The atmosphere is a lot like home: family-like. We had dinner together, talked a lot and enjoyed some good wine.

Furthermore, Davy was really flexible and full of ideas. Going to visit the mountains, driving a quad through nature, visiting traditional berber people, exploring Marrakesh, making traditional tea and couscous. A lot to be done and learned.

This place gives you the best of two worlds: close to the beauty of nature, close to the excitements of the city.

This hotel is more than a hotel: they offer you a whole apartment for the price of a room. And they make you feel member of the family. Around the beautiful apartments a paradise of flowers, grass, water. Davy and Annie are very kind, and their little daughter soon on your lap - as the blond labrador. Very well recommended!
