“Taking bookings then when guest turn up no room available”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

We have friends to visit last weekend who had booked 2 rooms when they arrived there were no rooms ready , they told our friends the booking had been cancelled , but it was still live on booking dot.com they tried to send them to a B&B over the road ,no room ready , the manger was very unhelpful , our friends spent over 90 mins trying to sort things they ended up walking away and finding their Accommodation we wound never recommend the Queens to any one .

Room Tip: Don't go to the queens

My wife and I were in Todmorden for a function, and we were recommended to stay at the Queen. Our room was well equipped and comfortable, and spotlessly clean, though the decor was a little careworn. (I'd guess that the rooms had a serious makeover in the mid 2000s and were probably due for redecoration.)
We had a very comfortable night's sleep and the breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: If I'd realised just how close we were to the station, I wouldn't have bothered bringing the...

We stayed in the Queen's while on a family visit. The location is great, easy to get to and even though so close to the station not noisy at all. The staff was very welcoming and pleasant. The only complaint we have was that we found lots of hair in the bathroom around the sink (as if someone had shaved) and on one of the beds. We read bad reviews before about their food but totally disagree. The food was lovely and they had a bigger variety than expected. Overall a lovely stay but could have done without the hair.

We are a middle aged, married couple who have visited Todmorden (or Tod as it usually known locally) on several occasions because of family connections. The Queen Hotel is basically a large public house with accommodation which we have visited before for drinks only but had not stayed as hotel guests until our first booking in early December 2013. We used to stay at a Premier Inn in Halifax when visiting family in Tod but decided to try the Queen Hotel because of its location and recommendations from family members, we were not disappointed. The public lounge area of the hotel is spacious, clean and tidy. The hotel reception is located at the bar area immediately on the right after entering the premises from its main entrance. The staff are friendly and efficient. Our room was clean, warm and decently equipped. The bed was large and comfortable. There was plenty of storage space for clothes and baggage. The room had a flat screen TV and a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits provided. There was a bath and not just a shower cabinet. We were not disturbed by noise from the pub. Breakfast for both of us was included in the price and consisted of a choice of fruit juices, choice of cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit. The cooked breakfast consisted of fried egg (what could go wrong!), grilled / fried bacon (nice), grilled / fried mushrooms (decent), tinned tomatoes (no problem) and a sausage (absolutely dire and not recommended). Toast was provided with a choice of marmalade, various jams or honey. Individuals are also provided with their own pot of tea or coffee. This is a decent pub-hotel and good value for money. It is conveniently located next to the station with frequent trains to Manchester, Halifax, Bradford and Leeds. Beautiful scenery around Tod.

Stayed here for weekend while visiting family, Staff friendly and helpful, Breakfast variable e. g. 1 morning sausage on plate, next day none although well cooked and served quickly. The meal deal on Saturday night was excellent and great value. Bar is well stocked and has a nice selection of cask ales. Rooms are clean and beds comfy. Only gripe I had was a lack of communication from staff as I was not told there was a surcharge at the weekend or that breakfast times were different come Monday . Overall we enjoyed our stay and will use the Queen again.

We stopped by the queen, and simply were stunned what we saw.

It was like a drop in centre for down and outs, drunks and weirdos.

We had booked to eat but thankfully we did not,

The staff looked dirty and uninterested. The manager was camp as Christmas and looked like he was going to a gig never mind running a hotel

#disappointed

We stayed for one night for a friends birthday, we were greeted by a friendly very helpful young lady on the reception bar area. She was very polite professional and helpfull. The room was very clean warm and a nice comfy bed. We went to book a taxi and another young lady did that for us when she spotted us looking for a number.
The brekki in the morning we were greeted by another lady who served us quickly proffesionally and again very helpful.
Overall i would recommend the hotel, the food is good, the rooms well maintained but the staff go the extra mile to help you, to be honest i was not expecting much as i used to live in tod 10 years ago, but i left the queens happy with the service and will be returning x
