“A Holiday resort with lots of homely touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011

It was a wonderful stay at Cherrapunji Holiday resort. The resort is run by the Ryne family, where every one is very particular about good service. I found the homely environment during every moment of my stay. Resort is located in the remote side of Cherrapunji. But I must say the view was amazing from resort. The experience of spending long hours at night in the bamboo sitting arrangement outside the resort was awesome.

The other best thing about the resort is, they serve local cuisine also. So we didnt miss the chance of having their local food and it was great.

One thing which might disappoint the travellers is its distance. It is quite far off from main place of cherrapunji. So it would be better if one reaches there before evening. Because we had a tough time in locating the resort

Room Tip: View from the first room from right was the best.

We were there in February for geologic fieldwork. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent (especially the fresh fruit juices!), the rooms simple but comfortable and spacious. The views were absolutely spectacular. I definitely plan to return with my family for a vacation.

Room Tip: Half the rooms have a beautiful view over the deep valley adjacent to the hotel, half look onto the...

The ride from Cherrapunji (Sohra) main junction to this resort, which is about 20 km was just breathtaking.

The view of the hotel portico is mind boggling.

The hotel owners & the staffs are the best !! They are so helpful & warm. We are greatly touched by the hospitability & warmth of the hotel owners, Mr. Rane & his family (espicilally his daughter, Angela).

The treks organised by this resort are life time experiences.

i was on a tour of Meghalaya with a group of 15 friends and we stayed at the Cherrapunji holiday resort for 2 nights. I hotel is very basic in amenities, more like a bed and breakfast. Do not expect luxuries in the rooms, but the views from the resort is breathtaking. Living admist nature far from the polluted air of cities most of us live in is a welcome change. The owner is a very jolly person and loves to chat up with you. the food is simple, but served hot and excellent to taste. The coffee is something i can never forget..One of the best i have had. We had bonfire arranged right outside the resort and sang and danced late into the night. The highlight is ofcourse the long and exhausting trek to the living root bridge. it is a day long trek and required moderate physical fitness to be able to complete. A must do in cherrapunji. Overall, an enjoyable stay, especially if you are going in a big group.

Stayed at Cherrapunjee resort for 3 nights, loved the experience. The walks in the area are just amazing, the people at Cherrapunjee resort provided us with a very well-done handmade map and good information. The scenery is simply spectacular.
The resort restaurant food is excellent. People are lovely. They employ numerous women from the nearby village, really appreciated it. The ladies work hard but sometimes due to the lack of English they get confused on the order (restaurant) etc, so some tolerance should be expected.

Room Tip: Make sure you stay in a room in the main building!

One of the very few resorts/hotels in Cherrapunjee, The Cherrapunjee Resort is built at a great location. The resort also serves as a great starting point for many treks. The owner of the resort has made a commendable effort to train the locals as staff.

The staff was very helpful and warm.

The resort, which is run by a friendly family, is located 25kms away from Cherrapunjee, and the off-beat location is definitely one of the assets of the resort. The surrounding villages are full of friendly people, where kids say hello and buy to you all the time.
The staff at the resort are also local people, and they have been trained to provide excellent service. The rooms are very basic, and the food at the resort would get a mixed response.
However, best thing about the place is the various treks one can undertake, with the resort as base. Some of them are tiring, but beautiful.

Room Tip: Don't miss the double decker trek.
