Good service. Room was excellent as I expected. Food was also good. Overall I'm pleased with the srevice. If anyone wants to stay in a Sylhet... Hotel Metro intl. is recommended. I hope hotel management will continue to please the customer in the future with their service.

No significant complaints about this place - it's centrally located within Sylhet city, and more or less everything is walkable from here - provided you take the usual precautions when setting out on foot to explore any Bangladesh city... The rooms seem to be of a decent size, with (by Bangladesh standards) relatively soft beds, so your chances of a decent night's sleep are increased (though I had to complain about noisy next-door guests late at night). Bathrooms were acceptably clean, and things worked okay too. Adequate breakfast choices, in a huge restaurant. Staff willing, but generally inefficient.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

I stayed at Metro for 2 nights during my business trip in Bangladesh beginning of this month. The hotel is modern with good spacious and clean bedrooms. The weather in Bangladesh tends to be cold during December and January, and the hotel has not taken into consideration of providing heating other than a very thin blanket on the bed. I was very cold and could not sleep during the night. I went to the reception to see the duty manager and he was very unhelpful and did not care about his guests!! When I pointed out that the reception area had heating which greeted the guests and then mislead them to thinking the rooms would be nice and warm, again he just gave me a blank look. The rooms are not vented or sound proof as you can constantly hear the noise of car horns all the time.

The breakfast was well below average as it was cold or lukewarm if you’re lucky.

Not happy with the level of service and food, I decided to move out on the second day as I planned to stay at Metro for the length of my stay. With help of my acquaintances I moved into Hotel Star Pacific other side of the town adding more costs to my trip. Hotel Star Pacific is much superior hotel however bit pricier but worth the while. My advice… Stay Away from Hotel Metro.

This was probably the most modern place I stayed in during 12 days in Bangladesh and first impressions of my room were good: spacious and clean. But this establishment cheap-skates at the expense of a guest's comfort. We arrived very late but sleep was soon interrupted because I was so cold. As normal. no heating in the room but also only one very thin blanket on the bed and no proper blanket to be found in the cupboard. The bed seemed unusually slippery as I lay in it. I discovered that the mattress had been left in it's plastic shop cover (presumably to make it last longer) but it made for unpleasant sleeping. There was a half roll of toilet paper and no spare roll, one bar of soap and only one small sachet of shampoo. Many of the tv channels had impossibly bad reception and all but one of the light/fan switches by the bed didn't work. And a loudly ticking wall clock. The usual Bangladesh breakfast vegetables were cold and the container for the Nescafe was very small with a positively minute (salt spoon size) spoon.

During my official visit with my colleague, we had to extend our stay at sylhet suddenly and at last moment we found Hotel Metro International. You can't judge its interior from outside. Though per night cost of this hotel was out of our official range we decided to share a room just to experience a new place to stay. It was totally worthy. Room was so specious and well decorated. Interior decoration attracted us most. We felt ourself like King...LOL...Complementary breakfast was fantastic and we enjoyed...Their service was beyond expectation...would recommend anybody to try Metro International...

It's a very good hotel to stay in the heart of the city. It's very near to Bus station and Train station. Rooms are neat and clean. The hotel is located near Amusement park and very quite from the busy city sound. Overall food is good and service is excellent in this budget.
