First time abroad for my husband and I with out 2 children aged 5 + 8 .The last time we had visited this resort was before we had children The resort is suitable for families and couples looking for a lively place but not crazy like Ayia Napa. We have family living in Cyprus and the hotel was very welcoming for us to bring them in the daytime to join us around the pool. The hotel itself was exceptionaly clean the staff were extremely friendly and the entertainment staff kept my children and husband busy. We went self catering and there are plently of resturants around hotel although we found ourselves rooted to the hotel during the day as the pool was so fab and fantastic for children .I know why people go back here year after year wanted to go back again this year but family wanted to try a different part of the world although we are all afraid it will not live up to this hotel.Would love to go back have reccomended it to my sister and her family who have booked to stay here in August this year. Its a bit to hot in August for me to join her sadly.dont go here if you dont like the noise of children. Some couples were complaining that children to noisy and splashy in the pool. But what do you expect from a family hotel ,children and big kids having loads of fun making loads of noise .Enjoy !

We (four girls) stayed here in Easter holidays. Arrived at midnight, checked in very quickly and went to our one bedroom apartment. Lift access to all floors, all rooms have balcolnies. Night Porter helpful when asked at 1am where we could get food and drink. Directed us to The Greenery (excellent pub) which is on main strip and what a time we had there. The hotel sits right on the beach and is only a 5 minute walk to the main strip. People on here have reviewed it as being up a big hill but really if they think thats a hill I worry! The pool area is excellent with plenty of sun beds and direct sunshine until round about 2pm.

After this the sun hits all the balcolnies with the side sea view so if you are a sun worshiper don't get a pool view as after 2pm you will miss the sun. Ask for a side sea view (standard rooms no extra cost) and you'll get the sun at the pool all day then it will hit your balcolny late afternoon.

Hotel has all mod cons and facilities. Maid service every day. Standard british plugs no need for adapters!! Couple of TV channels (but really who goes on holiday to watch TV)Only ate at pool bar and was pretty tasty. Hotel does half board and all inclusive however we went self catering and Im glad we did as managed to try several different places to eat and drink.

Food wise in typical restaurant was roughly 12 euro for two courses, 11 euro for bottle of wine, 2.5 euro for pint of lager. A round of drinks in most places for 4 people cost 10 euro, definately not as expensive as I was expecting.

Protaras itself is an excellent resort for getting out and about. Mostly aimed at families and couples however as a group of girls we didnt want to be right among the clubbing scene in Aiya Napa however it was only 10 euro in a taxi when you fancied it.

Fantastic holiday all in all. Highly recommend the Greenery for some banter, Flora for 2 euro cocktails and Sphinx bar for some cheesy entertainment. Lovely people, excellent food and lovely sunshine.

P.S if you have a late night flight ask to keep your room on until 6pm. Costs 40 euros but well worth it not getting chucked out at 11am!!

Choose the Rising Star for your next holiday, you will not be dissapointed!!

All in all a great week's stay with friends. We went just after the schools went back so the hotel wasn't at all busy. Great location just away from the main hustle but near enough to walk to most places.
Although none of us had children with us the kids facilities looked really good and the staff very helpful. The bar staff were all charming and efficient, especially Dasa, even though she turned down my proposal of marriage! The only blot on the landscape was the surly night porter but that was a minor irritation.

Family Holiday First Time We Have Tryed Half Board Was Not Dissapointed The Hotel Is Situated At The End Of The Beach And Is Central To All The Resort And Is 20 Minute Walk With Babies 10 minute If Grown Up To Fig Tree Bay. Good For Scuba Diving As There Is Plenty Of Dive Sites Around The Island, And The "ZENOBIA WRECK .

We Was Also Happy With The Weather was Not Below 35 Deg Throught The holiday !!!!
The cost For most Things Was Quite Expensive Due To The EURO ! Would Advise Going Halfboard Breakfast Is Buffet And Evening Meal Is Three Course Off A Menu Which Is Fantastic Value Steak,Pasta ,Pizza,Fish, Burgers, And Buffet Two Nights A Week Which IS Great Value.

With Regard To Trips We Tryed A Boat trip That Was Expensive 168euros For 2 Adults And 2 Kids But Was Not Very Good Value, Also Went To Paphos For The Day This Was Good VALUE. The Entertainment Was Good For The Kids, During The Day

This was the second time I've been to Cyprus - first time aroung I stayed in Ayia Napa in 2000 when I was 21 with my boyfriend and this time (8 years later) we came back to get married. Cyprus is such a beautiful island and we both love it. There were 20 of us and we all stayed in the Rising Star as it came highly recommended.

We could not fault this hotel, it is spotless, staff are friendly and helpful and the location is perfect. The Beach is great and we done a lot of water sports (the paragliding is a must) best way to see the coast - gorgeous. We were self catering on this holiday and I'm so glad because we got to eat in lots of different restaurants - the food in Cyprus is second to none.

We actually had our wedding meal in the Yianna Marie Restaurant which was beautiful, they gave us our own area overlooking the sea (just magical). The Red Indian was a fab restaurant too, we ate here a number of times.

Love this hotel and we are going back to it next year.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel at the end of May for two weeks. I was a bit apprehensive at first because it was my first time aboard and some of the reviews did have negative comments. But what can I say I enjoyed every minute of my holiday. The hotel was situated in a perfect location right next to the beach where there was plenty of water sports to keep you occupied. The hotel was also situated very close to the Protaras high street and a local supermarket was just a few minutes walk up the road.
The hotel itself was very modern. We stayed in a one bedroom studio which had everything we needed including a cooker, kettle, fridge and toaster. As well as satellite television however there was only one channel that was English and that’s the BBC news. The rooms were very clean and tidy. We had our bed linen and towels changed up to four times a week but everyday our rooms were cleaned which was very nice. The view from our room wasn’t that spectacular. We had a side sea view and ahead of us were a side street followed by mud ploughed fields. There were two minor problems with our room though. The fridge door wouldn’t stay closed unless you positioned the fridge at an angle and the air conditioning in the living and kitchen area kept leaking. But as there was so much to do in the day we weren’t in our rooms that often so these weren’t major problems that affected our stay.
All of the staff in the hotel were very friendly. They all spoke fluent English and made you feel like you were at home. There was a wide range of food to choose from throughout the day. We were there for fourteen days and ate something different every day. There was also a restaurant over the road from the hotel that were in the same company and they also served excellent food. The hotel put on themed nights so many days a week and these are not to be missed.
The entertainment during the day and at night was very good and it was done to suit all ages. The Thomas Cook holiday reps were also very helpful and friendly.
There were plenty of trips to go on and there was a wide range to choose from. We spent five days doing a variety of trips and we still hadn’t done half of them!
All in all this Hotel is excellent for families and couples of all ages. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone.
