Stayed at the Antigoni for two weeks Aug / Sept 2008. The hotel is described as 3 star but in my opinion this is not the case.
The whole complex is in need of lots of refurbishment.

The only positive thing i can say about this hotel is the pool is very good but this is let down by the poor quality of the pool area, sun loungers and parasols. The pool bar turns out to have been closed for the whole of the season and is slowly turning into a eyesore in need of immediate attention. Unfortunately the pool may be nice but several people i spoke to including my wife and myself suffered with ear infections.

House keeping was also a let down during the two week stay on two ocassions the beds were left unmade , the bath was not cleaned daily, floors may have been swept but areas around and under chairs and tables were missed. Towels were replaced every day but sadly they were very old and grey.

I am not the most adventurous person when it comes to food but again i am unable to say anything really good about the meals at the Antigoni. My wife described meal times as O.K.

Finally and probably the worst part of my stay was noise from the nearby bars, loud music was boomimg out until 2.00 - 2.30 am every night making a good nights sleep impossible until it stopped. Before you say it i am not a miserable old sod i enjoy a good time but this was too much.

I have looked through travel brochures and checked the internet and found no warning about loud music playing into the early morning at this location.

On a positive note the resort, the beach and the weather was fantastic.

“Loved it, Staff and Food Excellent!”

Antigoni Hotel

Aug 18, 2008

When we arrived we were greeted by a very proffesional and friendly night porter, who was expecting us and even knew our names. On our first night we noticed that the air con wasnt making much difference to our room, so asked to change and were granted this no problem. The staff on reception were happy to help and although some didnt always smile enough they did show a caring attitude and were helpful.
We took our 7month old baby daughter and can honestly say despite the heat of 46 degrees on some days, she seemed to enjoy every minute of her holiday, we felt it was a very family orientated hotel and the staff loved children.
The hotel itself was fairly quiet and relaxing and seemed to be used by mainly cypriot families who had travelled from Niccosia for their weekend break. They were very friendly and sociable and we at no time did feel out of place.
Now for the best bit, The food was absolutely fantastic! My fiance is the fusiest eater you could meet and we both agreed you could not falter to be over satisfied with the wide variety of food options avaliable. The best night we had roast minted lamb, roast beef, pork and turkey with all the trimmings! Fresh fruit and a choice of three gateuxs available every night. We had previously stayed in higher rated hotels in the area and the food did not come anywhere near the quality we received here. They will let you swop your half board option and have lunch in instead of dinner and this is also fantastic, fresh and cooked to order all very tasty. We ate out on a couple on nights but really there was no need, the best resturant was called Diva and every single thing we ate and drank was fantastic, highly reccomend it. The location of this hotel is great its literally 30 seconds walk from the main strip, however no noise and you would not know how close you really are. The beach is a slightly longer walk around 5 to 7 mins but well worth it 6 euros to hire two beds not too bad. The only thing we would say wasnt great was the entertainment or lack of it, but that suited us as we were left alone, will return again for sure!

We have just arrived home after a week at the Antigoni with our two teenage daughters. The hotel was nice, rooms were clean and we paid extra for a pool view which was worth it. We were half board, the breakfast was great but the evening meals lacked in variety for fussy eaters, some nights better than others. The pool was excellent and there were always plenty of sun beds. The location was great, close to the beach and next to the strip with all the bars, restaurants and buzzing nightlife.

Would definitely stay here again but only on bed and breakfast.

“Great Hotel”

Antigoni Hotel

Jul 31, 2008

We stayed for two weeks and travelled with Portland Holidays. On arrival we were a bit nervous as we had to wait around 30 minutes for our room. Once we got in the room it was above the standard we had expected. The room was fairly small but exceptionally clean and had a good bathroom and air con was very efficient.
The hotel was very quiet - this meant there was never a problem getting a sunbed. The breakfasts were great and overall the evening meals were good, however there were a few nights where the dishes were a bit random (i.e. nothing went with one another).
The location was great just a 2 minute walk to bars and restaurants. The beach was approx 5 mins where the sea was crystal clear. There's a plenty of stuff to do around the resort and meal and drink prices were lower than anticipated.
Overall a good holiday and would return. Cyprus is a great place.

If you are thinking of staying here, don't waste your money by going all inclusive because it just isn't worth it. The pool area is great, always lots of beds. The room was lovely and clean, good shower. View over the car park but with a sea view. When it states satellite TV, there aren't any English speaking channels, just the odd episode of 'Friends' or 'Baywatch' with Greek subtitles. Bar staff friendly, waiting staff good. Entertainment was questionable. Not many people stayed around the hotel in the evening, this meant there wasn't much atmosphere. One night there was about four people watching a poor Freddie Mercury tribute singer. Food is decidedly average. Warm - sometimes cold - but certainly not hot. Usual dull all inclusive food - bit of a mish mash of everything really. There are lots of great places to eat and drink within a couple of minutes walk. Dafni's is great for breakfast - lovely freshly squeezed orange juice. Steen's is also good for breakfast and Sunday lunch - a bit pricier but worth going to. For a lovely place to go for a drink try Ripples cocktail bar - very friendly staff. If I was going to Protaras again I would consider this hotel again but definitely on a room only basis.
