“Absolutely Loved This Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2008

We booked this holiday a year in advance as we have 4 children and can only take holidays during July and August. Originally we booked a 2 bedroom apartment at the neighbouring Marlita Beach Apartments, however when we arrived we were allocated 2 one bedroom apartments. We were extremely disappointed and contacted our rep early next morning to explain. She was absolutely fantastic and later that afternoon had arranged for us to stay next door at the Anastasia. We booked a self catering holiday but because of what happened Thomas Cook arranged for us to stay half board and not only that, we were given the most beautiful suite in the hotel with amazing beach views, it was amazing. The manager really went out of his way to make sure our every need was catered for.

The food at the hotel was excellent and the kids really enjoyed thebuffet. There was a tremendous choice and the waiters and waitresses were extremely helpful and very hard working. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Our room was cleaned every day and sheets and towels changed on a regular basis. Our maid was lovely and very friendly.

We used the pool facilites at the Marlita as the children loved the extensive gardens there and also the entertainers. They joined in all the activities including water polo, french bowls, water aerobics and football. The icing on the cake for this holiday was the superb weather. It was red hot for the whole fortnight. (factor 50 applied on a regular basis for the whole 2 weeks meant that no-one got burned )also if you are going with kids, be sensible and make sure they wear hats and T-shirts in the pool and cover from head to toe in factor 50 or more!!!!

Location was great. Far enough away from the nightlife to enjoy the peace and quiet in the evenings but close enough to Protaras strip if you wanted something different.

We would so much love to return to Cyprus but unfortunately it is rather expensive. It cost over £3,000 for the 2 weeks but was well worth it. Maybe in 2 years time we will go back. In the meantime if you have booked you will not be disappointed.

The best place to eat out if you want an alternative to the hotel food is the nearby Mojito restaurant - fabulous.

If you are planning to go have a fabulous time and make the most of your holiday by visiting as many places on the island as possible as the scenery is breathtaking. Hire out a car, it's not expensive but most of all have a really great time.

we have just returned from our holiday in cyprus, which was fantastic, its our third year staying near protaras and will return again. but, if you are considering booking the anastasia , make absolutely sure that is where you are staying, the reason im say this, is because when we arrived we were put into a place they apparently own called the ausonia, which in my opinion has NO relevance to the anastasia complex whatsoever. it is completely sub standard and whatever money you are likely to pay for your holiday,,it would be more than this cat sanctuary is worth. we [married couple with two children 6+4] wasted two days of our holiday persuading them [the reps] to get us moved. which we eventually did to the tsokkos gardens, its nice.. but the point is it was not what we booked, we booked the anastasia beach apartments, but were put into the ausonia. so before parting with your hard earned cash, make doubly sure where your going to be sleeping at night. anastasia and tsokkos gardens /very good. the ausonia/ NOT so good at all.

Studying the brochure we booked the Anastasia Hotel and Apartments. The photographs looked wonderful and the hotel and deluxe apartments were of good standard. Unfortunately we were placed in the Ausonia apartments. These were of poor quality and not as expected. Since being home I found that another tour operator advertises them independantly and not as a complex. This enables the customer to make a choice of the accommodation they require.

We are just back from the Anastasia Beach Hotel after a 7 day holiday. Although the hotel itself was excellent, the apartment block where we were located is certainly not a 4 star rating. It was clean and serviced every day but it needed some upgrading to get the 4 stars.
Apart from that our stay was exceptional. The food was great, with plenty of selections at breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. All the staff were really friendly and willing to help. They always had time to chat and spend some time with us (especially Jana and Lucia, and the barman Micheliso).

The facilities were great, including the indoor pool and the gym and at no time did we ever have to search for sunbeds at the poolside which made a big difference. The daytime entertainers always made time to try and get people to get involved in activities. I agree with a previous reviewer that stated that their job would be made a lot easier if people had the decency to politely decline, rather than ignore them totally. Once we got to know the entertainers we had a really good laugh with them.

They also provided most of the entertainment in the evening. If the older people can suffer the kiddies section (and the younger, the bingo) it is worthwhile to see them perform. I've seen some cheesy performances in other places, but they were MUCH better. Well rehearsed and performed.

The beach closest to the hotel isn't up to much but it was only a 15 minute stroll to the larger beaches which was definitely worth the walk. 12 euros for 4 beds wasn't bad.

Overall our first stay in Cyprus was a real pleasure and we would definitely go back to this hotel, but for the 14 days next time.

We returned from Anastasia Beach Complex 1/9/08 after a two week holiday. When we booked we wanted to stay in the Anastasia but ended up staying in the Ausonia apartments which are aparently now part of the Anastasia. Our view was of the back of the Anastasia which was very disappointing. The first night of our holiday the air conditioning in our room was not working. There were no fans available and the heat was unbearable. We were opposite the "station pub". There was load music and singing going on until beyond 3am. My 6 yr old and 4 yr old were really distressed. We were moved to another room the next day which was not much better. The television did not work, the toilet seat was hanging off and did eventually fall off and the bottom of the bath was peeling. People in rooms all around us were being moved because sewrage was coming up through their baths and sinks and the smell was overwhelming. On a few occasions we had to walk through the foyer as raw sewrage was pouring through the ceilings. There were buckets everywhere to catch it. Extremely hazardous I think!!! There were kittens in reception on the receptionists were feeding them. On on occasion the receptionist emptied catfood onto the reception floor. We could not believe it. We were glad to leave our accommodation. It was really disappointing as the 2 weeks cost £3000 and we thought we were paying for a 4 star holiday and I wouldn't even call it 2 star.
From what we have been told, the anastasia hotel and appts itself were fabulous. This is what we thought we had paid for. That is what you book and it is pot luck as to where you are put.
On a different note the food in the hotel was good and the waiters around the pool were fantastic. They come up to you really often and bring your drinks and snacks and are always friendly and chirpy.
The hotel is quite out of it. It was about a 40 minute walk to Protaras or 10 Euros in a taxi. There are a couple of shops scattered around though.

I travelled to this hotel between 31/08 and 07/09/08. I was bit apprehensive before going having read some reviews on
other sites, but it turned out to be a very nice hotel and would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone to go. The
weather there was perfect, 7 days of clear blue sky.

Hotel rooms fair size, all have fridge, wardrobe space big enough for 2 people, plenty of hangers, and draw/cupboard
space. Room had kettle and at the bar there were teabags / sugar / coffee available, just ask the barstaff say you want some milk and they will provide that.
In room safes available to hire for 13 Euros a week. TV with BBC World News channel the only English one - you have to pay if you want a remote control though - pointless with 1 channel but still! Bathroom small, but adaquate - had bath and shower. Latecheckout available til 6 pm for 20 Euros. Pool towels available for a refundable 10 Euro deposit.

Internet access available to guests, pool table, video games, tennis court, table tennis all charged for. Quiet pool at the back of hotel is for people just relaxing in the sun, no activities at pool. Main pool had all the entertainment at. I didn't participate, but people were doing water aerobics, polo, volleyball etc. Evening entertainment there was some, the usual cheesy hotel style, but we didn't get involved preferring one of the local bars instead for a quiet drink.

Outside of hotel in Pernara - about 6 supermarkets all much the same, and 5 restaurants/bars. Protaras was a 20 minute walk away - a much busier town with usual touristy shops and loads more nightlife.

Food, I have never been to a hotel with such delicious food, OK its not a la carte luxury, but breakfast was hot buffet with your full English, cereals, toast, jam, yogurts, salads. Lunch and evening meal, choice of 3 or 4 hot meat/fish dishes, always seemed to be pork of some sort (which was a nice change as in recent years have gone to Turkey and Egypt and obviously you can't eat it there), always chips and 1 other potato dish, pasta, salads, fresh fruit, jelly, custard, ice cream for dessert (if you could manage pudding!!!) Restaurant staff very helpful plates cleared quickly, drinks brought to your table. Food was always hot and plentiful. Breakfast served between 7 - 10, lunch 12.30 - 2.30, and evening meal 6.30 - 9.30. Plus snacks inbetween if you could manage more food!!!

Bottled water included, as were beer, local vodka, whisky, bacardi and soft drinks, tea and coffee. Drinks were served in glasses at night, but plastic cups in the day.

Bad points, I like to make the most of my time in the sun, but there was nowhere in the sun to eat breakfast or lunch - the outdoor tables were all undercover. Hotel in places looked tired but nothing a spot of painting and some minor repairs - the wardrobe door had come of its runners, the bathroom was clean but could do with retiling. A very good hotel, staff excellent - there were hardly any Cypriot staff - apart from 1 lady at the bar the Cypriots didn't seem to enjoy their work!!! A sign of the EU I suppose when 90% of staff were Slovak and all of them faultless.

This hotel is definetly not a 4 star hotel. We paid extra for a sea view and on arrival were overlooking other apartments, we discussed the problem with the receptionist who tried to fob us off with a side sea view, eventually after lots of phone calls to our rep, she spoke to the manager who sorted the problem out and we were given a sea view the next day!! we had ants in our bathroom and a wasps nest on our balcony which defeated the object of having a sea view as i am terrified of wasps!!!
we actually never spent much time in our room but the a/c was fantastic and the rooms were very clean.
The breakfast was good, waitresses were very good.
The pool area was very good, staff were fantastic and friendly brilliant if u have children. pool clean and very close to beach.
The hotel is in need of modernisation, the location is also a bit far from everything a 20 min walk each night to protaras. it is in pernera not paralimni as stated in some adverts!!
