“Never ever again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

I booked Superior Room Side Sea View in that hotel only for 2 nights in the beggining of May. On arrival we were given Double Standard Room instead of booked Superior Room with Side Sea View. The receptionist was very "surprised": "Oh,my God! Really? How could it happened???Sorry, sorry but we don't have available Superior Room for you now." She also mentioned that we can change room to our booked room only next day! She also offered help to move our luggage etc. Next morning I went to reception to find out when our Superior Room will be ready and who will help us to move (we are family with 2 small children); the manager Nicos spoke to me in a rude impolite manner accusing me in last minute booking! Despite the fact that the reservation was done exactly 1 month before! No help offered with the luggage. DO NOT STAY IN KAPETANIOSBAY HOTEL! SAVE YOUR NERVES!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2014 via mobile

we have been to Cyprus and this resort before but it is the first time at this hotel. As previous comments state the rooms are not large, and if you can opt for a room with an overhanging balcony as they are slightly bigger.

There are no tea making facilities in the rooms, you have to rent a kettle cups and spoons, at £14 per fortnight, unless you have a superior room, which also includes a fridge, which when we booked was only £20 more through the holiday company but €12 per night when we arrived here and we regret now not upgrading then.

wi-if is also chargeable, €20 for 5 days and can only be used on one device, and there seems to be a block on streaming blink box and Amazon movies, also I could receive but not make Skype calls and for a maximum of 15 mins only It is slow and cuts out often, so beware of that. All the local bars have free wi-if.

Having said all of that they are details to consider but the hotel,is very clean, linen changed regularly, the staff are VERY friendly and helpful and the food is good and there is lots of it. Again see previous comments re location, which is perfect. Try to get a room not overlooking McDonalds, as we have had quiet nights the whole time. recommend this place for value, cleanliness and staff if they could sort out the details it would be perfect. We would come back again with no hesitation.

we stayed as a family at the hotel from 14th september - 21st september. we emailed the hotel prior to our stay to request a cot as travelling with a young child. the hotel offered us one of their superior rooms away facing the pool and this was great. The hotel decor is a little dated and the rooms are basic but for the money paid are perfectly adequate. The maids changed towels and made bedding daily and you will always see staff around the hotel cleaning so the hotel has no cleanliness issues. We stayed half board, we would definatley recommend you go the bbq night which during our stay was held on thursday. The greek dancers entertain you while you dine and you can join them in dancing afterwards, brilliant night. You can also opt to choose to eat at lunch rather than evening meal if you are half board and we would highly recommend you do this. At lunch you are offered a 3 course set menu with a choice of 3 dishes on both starter and main, you are able to choose one and this is then prepared for you fresh. At the evening you have a buffet which is ok but food isnt as good quality as lunch and with so many resturants reasonably priced we found it nicer to eat out in the evening. The location of the hotel is at the top of the main street and this is perfect for bars, restaurants and the beach. The staff were all friendly and helpful during our stay. The only thing for those staying with children is that there is no entertainment for them during the day from staff. There is a small play area on the grass with young childrens toys and the childrens pool is ideal for babies. This is not a major issue with how lively the resort is and the beach is only a 5 - 10 minute walk away. We would stay here again if we returned to protaras, great value for money, great resort for families, no complaints.

Room Tip: email the hotel prior to your stay and they will do thier best to satisfy your request. we travelled...

We stayed in the Hotel from 4th September until 18th September. The location of the hotel is great. Right at the top end of the strip near McDonalds. Not far to walk to the beach and very handy to catch the local bus. The Hotel is a little dated and needs refurbishing.
When we arrived we were given Room 101. OMG not big enough to swing a cat in. There were 3 single beds in, all squeezed together. There was very little wardrobe space, the balcony was like a matchbox and the bathroom not much bigger.
When we complained, (which I have never done before, wherever I have stayed) I was pleasantly surprised by the staff. Very helpful indeed. We were given another room to look at, straight away. Not much bigger, but only had 2 beds in it and the balcony was bigger as well.
We agreed to the swap straight away. Thankyou for that.
All in all not a bad Hotel, but if we do go back I would definitely upgrade to a superior room.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask NOT to go in room 101
