“Excellent value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Just returned from a short break with B&B. The hotel is very central to all amenities, is a little dated but is spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were superb. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Will definitely return, due to its excellent location and value for money

Room Tip: twin bedded rooms are larger, book a fridge in advance

This was are second stay here went in June last year and it was very busy, not so busy in September until we requested a late room as we were not getting Picked up till 11pm so we had to check out by 12 i asked if we could keep the room on two days before checkout day the Guy on Reception said Come on Wednesday after Breakfast and ask then but we are fully booked up its 27euro to keep the room but i am sure we can sort a courtesy room for you to Shower and change Last year some people got to keep there room or if not there was a Courtesy room to use !! So i went back on are Checkout day and asked the Women Receptionist if we can have a late room we also had two rooms so we only needed one She said quite abrupt No fully booked so i asked for a Courtesy room to use again No you will have to shower and change at the pool !!! bearing in mind we did not arrive in are rooms until 4am in the morning and are rooms were booked from the day before i think it was a case of they did not want the hassle this Hotel has 135 rooms and they are telling me they will be all full as soon as we have Checked out !! the breakfast was this time not good we ate out some mornings, this hotel is used by a lot of eastern European travel agents so there are not a lot of English the feeling was they get priority over the English,We did get a room to shower in Thanks to a couple we got chatting to they kindly let us use there room.

Please don't listen to any of the negative reviews on here. We are currently staying here for a week B+B and couldnt be happier. The rooms and hotel are spotless. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. The pool is clean and big enough for a lot of people. It is very quiet at the moment so there's only half a dozen people sharing the pool! (probably because late season) the breakfast we get is of a good standard. Continental as well as full English. It is true what a couple of reviews say the rooms are slightly outdated. But you don't sit in your room week! The maid comes everyday. This hotel is located at the top of the strip so a good location too. Just come out of the hotel and turn left! A good restaurant for lunch a couple of doors down is "Hobo" this is must go for lunch. Have the grilled pork, cheese and coleslaw pitta. Delicious! Overall I would definitely come back here again. I was slightly put off with the bad reviews, but really glad we came.

Have stayed at this hotel many times and would recommend to anyone wanting a good value hotel with lovely breakfast and a brilliant location. The hotel is situated at the top of the strip with shops, restaurants and the beach right on your door step. Staff are always polite and the pool area with big and tidy, Rooms are a good size and clean. All in all a good hotel for families, singles, couples or partygoers!

Just got back from the Kapetanios Bay Hotel.

We paid £800 for 2 adults and 2 young children for 2 weeks and so we were under no illusion as to the quality of the accommodation.

My first impression of the hotel was a good one with a good sized air conditioned lobby and bar. The receptionists were helpful and pleasant and there are 2 small lifts which service all 4-5 floors. There are plenty of comfortable seats in the lobby with wi-fi (not fast) for those with computers and iPhones. There are also 2 computers in the lobby.

I was less impressed with the room. It was small, dated, very basic, and it comprised of 1 double bed, 1 single bed and a cot. It had a TV which showed Greek TV channels and a small fridge with a kettle/cups. The bathroom was clean, basic and adequate and the balcony was small, but adequate. Maids changed linens and towels daily, but as other posters have said, the air conditioning is quite poor. It works; but only just. The beds are quite comfortable and the cot was good.

We were in Room 323 which does have a sea view, but also has a lovely close up view of McDonalds and the main street. It is also located next door to the Magic Water Show which has music blaring from it until past 10pm every night. You will need to keep your patio doors closed if you are to have any peace of a night time because this is quite a busy location. Our balcony was virtually over the top of McDonald's.

The pool area is definitely the best feature of the hotel. The pool is a good size, albeit the shallow part is proportionately smaller than the rest of the pool which makes it quite crowded during peak times. There is also a small kiddies pool. There are plenty of comfortable sun loungers with parasols around the pool and surrounding area and those with phobias of unwanted insects need not worry. The hotel have placed wasp/bug traps in trees near to the pool and this definitely seemed to work because we weren't troubled by the pesky insects at all. There is also a shaded gazebo type area where you read or drink in the shade and the nearby bar serves food and drinks. It is quite expensive though, but the staff are really friendly.

On a less lighter note, the pool seemed to be populated by locals who weren't resident at the hotel. This seemed to occur mid-late afternoon on a daily basis; much to the annoyance of paying residents who couldn't really relax in the pool due to the number of people in it at this time. There are 2 gates on both sides of the building which are completely unlocked and this gives free access to the pool area. The hotel should really have addressed this by now because previous posters have also commented on it.

We were B&B, and judging by the lack of variety I am glad that we didn't pay for other meals. There was the usual cereal, toast, bacon, sausages, eggs etc, but little or no real fruit. The food was also very salty and extremely repetitive. The same every day. I can't comment on lunch or dinner.

This hotel is located at the top of the main street and in a great location for both the beach and restaurants and bars. The resort itself is very child friendly and very good for people with pushchairs and wheelchairs with ramps at the front of all shops, bars and restaurants. Some pubs have kids play areas and the beach is lovely. The sea is turquoise and warm and there is a tonne of beach activities. The beach is sand (no shingle) and there is a newly built wooden walkway which is great if you want a stroll along the beach. It is also well lit at night time and very popular with people. The beach is lined with some good 5* hotels.

The one thing that ruins the resort is the busy road which runs down the main street (strip). It is really busy with buses, cars, bikes and noisy buggies which really does ruin the ambience of the place. I appreciate the road services some of the hotels and other commercial premises, but it should be restricted for such purposes and not used as a race track by 'boy racers'.

The variety of food in Protaras is probably the best that I've seen in any resort and it's not as expensive as some would have you believe. For food I would recommend Teejay's. It is run by English people and the staff are really friendly and efficient. The food is very good and well priced. It sits back off the main road and this offers a bit of respite from the hustle and bustle of the main street and its traffic. There are large TV screens in Teejay's and free wi-fi.

For cheap drinks I would recommend the Only Fools and Horses Bar (3.20 Euros for a pint of Magners) and for a nicer drink I would recommend The Rising Sun pub which is located on the road between the Kapetanios Bay and the beach. The food is top notch and well priced and it also has free wi-fi. They also have some good live acts on at night time and it is in a far more peaceful location that the main street. There is an abundance of bars, shops and restaurants in Protaras. The Sphynx Bar is opposite the hotel and it too has some good live acts on of an evening. For those of you who like curries; there is one Indian Restaurant in Protaras and it is situated on the top road which runs parallel with the strip. The food there is just ok and modestly priced.

All in all Protaras offers a brilliant beach holiday with lots to do and good places to eat and drink. Like I say, the road does ruin it a little bit but not enough to stop you enjoying your stay.

The Kapetanios Bay is ideally placed, but basic and quite dated. I would grade it as 2* at worst to 3* at best. But for what we paid for the hotel, I can't really complain because it was good value for money. I would recommend it for singles, couples and very small families but not for large families.
