“good hotel -shame non residents are allowed to use facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

We enjoyed our stay at the iliada, nice hotel, right on beach, lovely sea view and food was fine with a good variety. The only complaint we and numerous other residents had was the fact cypriot teenagers coming up from the beach were allowed to use the pool area and bar, when they came up ,the music from poolbar was blasting out cypriot music as if to encourage them to use the facilities. There was some festival on when we were there which made things worse . On walking along the beachfront it seemed most of the beach hotels with a few exceptions are advertising their pool bars and encouraging people to come in and use them , i feel these facilities should only be for paying guests and unless this policy changes we will not be booking again, this should be made clear in the brochure GOOD HOTEL NON - RESIDENTS SPOILING IT !

Just returned from a week long stay in this hotel with my husband. Was disappointed with the hotel. It wasn't a 4 star hotel as indicated in the brochures. The check in was very fast which was great as we arrived at 3.30am and all we wanted was our bed at this stage. The room was basic and the bathroom wasn't the best I've ever seen, the shower was rubbish. There were no protectors on the mattress or pillows (maybe I'm being fussy!). The cleaning lady was lovely and the fact the room had a mini fridge and a kettle was a huge bonus. The pool area was very quiet during the week however at weekends it was overrun with locals and we found it difficult to get a sunbed. As a non-smoker I found it disguisting looking at overflowing ashtrays around the sunbeds. I recommend these are cleaned regularly during the day. The price of drink at the poolside bar was a bit extreme - 3.80 for a pint of carlsberg and 4euro for coke. We stayed on half board basis and the option to change dinner for lunch was great. This was the first time I went half board and probably wouldn't do it again - The food was hit and miss, soup was lovely any night we ate in the restaurant though. There was a lot of staff in the restaurant and at times we felt we only had the cutlery on the plates and they were being removed from the tables. One of the evenings my husband had a pair of long shorts on that were below the knee. He was asked to change into long trousers before he was seated. A bit ridiculous as it was so hot that evening.
The hotel is in a great central location. The bus stop to other resorts was nearby and the bus fare is only 1euro. We'd recommend a trip to Ayia Napa to the mexican restaurant, Los Bandidos and a visit to Diva Flambe Restaurant in Protaras. The food and staff in both places was exceptional. If you get a chance we definitely recommend a visit to one of the bars along the strip (The Love Boat or the Ghetto Bar) to see the Outrageous Misfits. It was a very entertaining act and you're guaranteed a laugh.

We had been to this hotel in 2009 as a group of friends and loved it, this time just the 2 of us went, and we loved it even more. We met quite a few people as the hotel creates a really friendly atmosphere. The staff here are so friendly and helpful and despite having to move rooms due to them needing the family room we had been put in, they really couldnt have been more helpful by moving our luggage and giving us a few little extras. I have to say that Savvas n the girls at the pool bar are great, and Makis, Ramona and Ema are just the best in the Armonia bar. We really didnt want to leave and will defo be back. As for the comments people have made about the weekend, this was in the process of been addressed and im sure will changed very soon. The food was nice and the staff again really friendly. I really wish we were still there! Miss u all

Room Tip: Beach view is best, never been in a bad room tho

Just returned from 2 weeks stay at the illada beach hotel in protaras. Read reviews before going on the whole good. All I can say is dont know how a few people can give this a negative review. We were not happy on arrival with the room view we had been given but after speakig with reception althoug there were no free rooms that day, we were moved the next morning, as promised. We did not have too move our luggage as this was done for us whilst we were on th beach. The food at this hotel is absolutely loveley, plenty of variety and always nice. soup especially nice. Probably one of the best half boards we have stayed in. Very clean, very friendly and very central location. The onlly comment i would mention on the downside is thetowelsforthe beach, We found each time we went to change, theywere all gone, suggest hotel needmore. WOULD I STAY THERE AGAIN??? OH YES WITHOUT A DOUBT.

Room Tip: always ask for sea or side sea.

This hotel is classed as a 4 star but 4 star Greece is not 4 star Spain. The bedrooms, dining rooms and pool areas are 3 star at best, however, the place is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is very good.
The worst feature is the congestion around the pool areas at weekend. The hotel allow locals, in the main roudy teenagers, to use the hotel's facilities and as a result space is restricted and sunbeds are hard to find and you are packed in like sardines. Tables at the outside restaurant and poolside bar are also full. This needs to be addressed by the hotel as it is not acceptable that hotel residents are pushed out.
Room are noisy on the side of the hotel facing the airconditioning plant.
Otherwise a good stay.
Would I return...possibly but not at this time of year...it's just too hot!

Room Tip: Get a sea facing room

The hotel itself is nice, staff are friendly and do go out of their way to help you. The rooms are quite basic, and clean. We were half board and thought the food we really good the 1st week, but on the second week not too sure what happened but the menu wasn’t a good.
As we were only half board we found the drinks rather expensive, the hotels charged you 3.80 euro for a local beer. In the surrounding bars your charged 2 euro’s for a beer also for some cocktails. My complaint is that there was nothing mentioned about the pool area being open to the public at the weekend when we were booking our holiday. The beach bar and café are very popular at the weekend with the young people, they seemed to take over the whole area, unfortunately the place was overrun with local young people who were rude, noisy and arrogant. The toilet areas also became very unhygienic at the weekends as the whole of Protaras appeared to walk in off the street and use them!!

We moved from Silver Sands next door to here, and I'm glad we did, not that there was anything wrong next door, but part of the deal was we were upgraded to all inclusive.
We first met the manager " Avgousta " when we came to view the room, She was very helpful and showed us the room and answered any questions we had. The room was clean, average size , a larger balcony than next door, with a side sea view, and had more shelves and draw space than next door.
The hotel was spotless and the staff were excellent , nothing to much trouble and always a smile for the guests, every one of them including the gardeners.
The entertainment was good when there was a lot of guests there, but a bit dull when only a few were there. I don't like to be dragged from my seat to perform in front of a lot of people that I don't know especially when I'm paying to be entertained , grumpy old men or not, thats the way I am. grrrrrrr!!!
The food was good although there was no waiter service at evening dinner.
Breakfast was pretty much the same every day, but the streaky bacon was too thick and appeared boiled as opposed to fried or grilled, as did the the frankfurter sausages, the english pork sausages were grilled and very tasty.
Lunch time there is a lot to choose from and you were served massive helpings, over faced me a few times, and I was brought up not to waste food so I usually just had soup , even a salad was enormous.
The bed was average ( not a patch on Silver Sands Next door ) but when you have had a few you can sleep anywhere.
The staff were brilliant .
The only thing that went against this hotel was the fact that at weekends both the hotel grounds and the beach immediately beyond and around the pool area was crowded by local people. Not that they shouldn't be allowed, after all it is their country, it's the fact that I had PAYED for the usage of these facilities and couldn't get a sun lounger or a spot on the lawn to spread a towel to lie on.
Oh did I mention how good the staff are ?

BTW Elena or Avgousta I keep getting those pictures bounced back saying that e-mail address is none existent , Mail me and I will send them to you by return.

Room Tip: get one on the north side, left looking toward sea
