“keep going back”

Golden Coast Beach Hotel

We have stayed 3 times at the golden coast hotel, you can not say a bad word about anything there. clean, staff excellant especially the restaurant manager Stellaous. the pool is clean, on the beach, all staff are great. fruit and wine in your room on arrival. The hotel is pricey but when you see the other hotels and the food that they offer its worth that extra. We keep going back each year, what more can you want!!!

“lovely hotel”

Golden Coast Beach Hotel

Jun 12, 2008

we stayed at this hotel from 21st till 28th of may for my daughters wedding.what can i say wow what a wonderfull place. she could not of wished for anything nicer. it was a little pricey with one or two hidden extras she did not expect to pay but it was worth every penny. appart from the wedding the hotel was just amazing. it has a very large pool area with loads of room for every one,we had two little ones with us aged 2 and 4 who were never out of the water. the dinning at the hotel was fine to in the evening you were shown to a table and always managed to have space for every one even our group of 10. the staff were lovely always had time to chat and get you to join in with all the activities. we will return again next year.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — the pool area and been right on the beach
    • Disliked — not enough toilets as it nly had one for the whole hotel and these were quite a walk especially for young children

“Fantastic Holiday would strongly reccommend”

Golden Coast Beach Hotel

Jun 4, 2008
3/3 found this review helpful

we have just arrived back 2/6/08 from The golden coast beach hotel and what can i say it was a fab holiday, the hotel is gorgeous and the views from our room breathtaking we were in the block seperate from the main hotel which had possibly a few extras that we were not expecting like carpet and lights on the balcony, the rooms are large and comfortable with air con and the bathrooms massive compared to most. we stayed in room 355 and our view was of the harbour and the sea very beautiful at seven in the morning. The staff couldn't do enough and were friendly but seem to work all day every day my maid maria was fantastic so thank you! We went for a wedding so there was a large party of us 27 in all and others that stayed at another hotel came for the one day paying 52 euro's for all inclusive which isn't bad considering all the food and drink which was to be taken advantage of! The food was nice although if there for 2 weeks a bit repetative and the puddings are out of this world! we did take advantage of the local watersports at the end of the hotels beach where my 5 yr old did some para- sailing 35 euro which he loved and my partner water ski-ing 40 euro for 15 min we also did a glass bottom boat trip from there for 14 euro each adult and 7 euro for children it lasted 3 hours and took us to Famagusta ( the turk ruled ghost town) and on to cape Grecco for a swim in the med that was stunning the water is so clear you can see the sea bed and was a very worth while trip.

i have read reviws that say protaras takes 45 min to walk and is up to 20 euro by cab this was not the case for us if you walk out of the hotel along the beach it takes 10 mins to walk at a steady pace to the top of protaras which has a few bars and shops we walked there most evenings after dinner and a taxi for 5 or 7 people cost us 8-10 euro day time and up to 13 euro in the evening.

we did want to visit ayia napa waterworld but it would have been very expensive at 30 euro per adult and 18 per child then travel to and from on top although it looked amazing so we dicided to go to protaras water park instead it was very nice and cost 33 euro for 3 of us with a 25% discount card our taxi driver gave us, it was adequate for what we wanted and wasn't too busy

the hotels entertainment could do with being aimed more at adults as the kids stuff goes on until 9.30 every evening i will reccommend the roxy bar show as that is one of the good nights and the entertainers are the staff who run the kids club which i must say are always trying to get the children involved in a long list of activities.

the last thing i would like to mention is a little church on top of the only hill in protaras its lit up at night and stunning we got a taxi and walked the steps to the top and the view is magnificent the brits call it the "chapel of comfort" this is because if you have ever lost a loved one you can take a message tied on a ribbon and tie it to one of the tree branches it's quite emotional i did it for my mum and there are thousands you can also go inside and look around at the ornate art work this is a must see! Take ribbon with you as it's hard to find out there!

“would recomend the golden coast for weddings”

Golden Coast Beach Hotel

May 30, 2008

we recently stayed at the golden coast hotel we spent 2 weeks all inclusive in may for our wedding. We would recommend this hotel 2 anyone who is thinking of getting married in cyprus. There was 20 people who travelled with us,some children. The only thing i can say that we didnt really like was the entertainment at night not that the entertainment staff didnt work hard because they really tried it was just that we thought that the hotel catered for children alot more than adults we have a 3 year old daughter with us so it was good for her but we just thought that because the hotel catered for alot of weddings it sould of catered for adults abit more than it did.The hotel was abit too far away from protaras we walked it a few times it took us 45 mins and in taxi 10 mins and that cost 10 euros. As for our wedding it was the most perfect place for us to get merried we loved every minute of it, we got married on the terrace which was lovely,if you take your own song on cd they play it over the speakers over the hotel grounds. After the cermony our photogapher took us round the grounds to have our pictures taken with freinds and family then off down to the beach and chaple for more picures just me and my husband i sorted my pictures out over the internet before we went because the price was alot cheaper than through first choice which we book the holiday with, and everything went smoothly the lady rang me when we got there and then came to meet me a few days into my hol. then after the wedding she came to bring our photos.Thats one thing we was really pleased with we got married on the tuesdays got our photo proofs on the wednesday we had our final choices in by friday morning then she came with our album on saturday, it was really quick just brilliant if anyone wants the name and address of the photogapher just email me jengregory1984@hotmail.co.uk
we then had our wedding reception across the road at the tavern which was lovely and alot cheaper than the hotel, the hotel sets out the tables lovely for the reception it really is beauitful but the price was just a little to much for us, the tavern was half the price and was brilliant we all enjoyed it and because we were all inc. it was also a change for us all.If we had the choice to do this again we would'nt change a thing it was brilliant.

“Great time at Golden Coast”

Golden Coast Beach Hotel

My partner and I stayed at the Golden Coast on a Fully Inclusive basis at the beginning of May 2008 with a group of 14 who had travelled for my nephew’s wedding.

The majority of us had booked to stay at Kouzalis Beach but at the last minute we were moved to the Golden Coast. We weren’t disappointed because this was a more expensive, better rated hotel and the other members of our party were there anyway. Good for us but not for them as they had paid a considerable amount more to stay there! We travelled with Argo holidays; these have now been taken over by Libra. Our flight times and airlines also changed considerably and we ended up flying with First Choice Airlines. This was also a bonus as we got free meals on the plane, something that we wouldn’t have done originally.

Our party travelled from Manchester and arrived at Larnaca late evening. It took us ages to find our Argo/Libra rep who then just gave us a number of a coach which we had to find for ourselves. Once we found the coach we struggled to tell the driver that we were now all staying at Golden Coast and not Kouzallis. This was very difficult as he did not speak English and we did not speak Greek and there was no rep to accompany us. We finally arrived at the Golden Coast after about 45 minutes and were checked in by a member of the entertainment staff (Andy) who did very well under the circumstances. We were all very hungry and thirsty, we were told later when we finally saw our rep that they should have provided at least some sandwiches and cold drinks as we were fully inclusive.

Our rooms were very nice. Me and my partner stayed in a block outside of the main hotel which gave good side sea views but some of our party were not so lucky and they were given rooms in the main hotel that overlooked the back and had no views. Even the bride and groom to be were not given the upgrade they were promised and had the worst views of all! The rooms reminded me very much like staying in a hotel chain bedroom such as Ibis or Holiday Inn, they were very clean and modern.

The hotel facilities, grounds and pool area were excellent. It is located on a little marina with a pier that has a little church at the bottom. Couples can get married there or in the hotel grounds itself. There were lots of weddings taking place at the hotel the week we were there and they did look great but they did not get a lot of privacy. The ceremony took place near the pool area and then their receptions were held in another area of the hotel where sunbathers had to walk past on their way to the toilets. There was only one set of toilets in the whole hotel; these were used if you were out at the pool or having lunch or dinner inside the restaurant.

My nephew and his fiancé had their ceremony at Protaris Town Hall followed by a reception at a lovely hotel in the town. They had a horse and carriage to take them to the reception and they said how lovely everyone was stopping to wish them well on their way and all the cars beeped their horns as a mark of respect. Golden Coast is a great place to take pics, we all got some fab photos of the bride and groom standing on the pier with the sea and the little church behind them.

We all had a great time at Golden Coast and the staff were great, especially the entertainment staff Benny, Victor and the rest who got everyone up playing games everyday and got to know us all by name. They even came to wave us off when we left.

The only disappointment with the hotel was the food. We all commented that it wasn’t very good and sometimes you didn’t really know what you were putting on your plate. Some nights there would be meat based dishes but nothing to go with them and then the next night there would be vegetable type dishes but nothing to go with them either. You did get to pull your own glass of Stella and wine from the barrel so things weren’t that bad!!

The snacks around the pool in the day were ham, cheese or tuna doorstop sandwiches or tuna filled pitta breads. These went down great with a strawberry milkshake and Malibu!

Some of our party ventured out a few times by taxi into Protaris and Ayai Napa and one night we all walked into Panera for a few drinks. It was about a 15 minute walk by the main roads but later discovered it was a lot nearer if you walked parallel to the beach! A taxi ride to Protaris cost around 20 euros but that was for a large 7 seater taxi.

On the last night, to be romantic, me and my partner ventured across the road to the little tavern called Mikrolimano. It was so nice and was run by a Cypriot family Mary and Chris. Chris made me a proper cocktail (called a Viagra!) that nearly knocked me off my stool! It really made me feel that all the cocktails that I had in Golden Coast were probably very watered down. We wish we had visited Mikrolimano early during our holiday because it was a very friendly place and even though we did not have a meal the people who were eating there said how great it was. I would really recommended this place if you are only bed and breakfast at Golden Coast or fully inclusive and want a break from the food. They even do wedding receptions here if you want to go for a tradional Cypriot type celebration.

I would definitely go back to Golden Coast but not on a Fully Inclusive package and also with First Choice. Their reps were always around and helped us even though we did not go with them. I would also recommend booking a package with good flight times. Our journey back from Larnaca was very bad, we were delayed considerably due to the overload of holidaymakers in the airport and the baggage conveyors breaking. We queued for nearly 2 hours just to check in and get our bags through. This then had a knock on effect to the time our flight left. All this on top of a 5 hour flight was not good.
