“Perfect Place !!!”

My husband and myself have just returned from our first stay at the cavo maris in Cyprus. Where do I start? This hotel is one of the best we have stayed in, and we have visited a few in Cyprus. The setting is ideal, in between Aiya Napa and Protaras. So you can visit either place during the day or evening for 1 euro each on the bus which stops just outside the hotel itself. And if you choose to go out for the evening there's no problem getting home because they run till 4 in the morning. 2.50 euro after 11.30pm. The hotel is fabulous. The staff are very friendly and cant do enough for you. Our room had a side sea view, very clean, modern with very good air con. Just a little tip tho if you have long hair. Take your own dryer as theirs don't have a filter on the end to stop it sucking in your hair ouch! The maids do a marvelous job cleaning, towels are changed everyday and think the bedding was changed more than twice a week. We took our own travel kettle but you can hire one. Not that you need one as there is a vacuum jug and the bar will fill it with boiling water for you and it stays hot for a good while. On every floor near the lifts there are water stations where you can get drinking water, ice cold to either fill your drink bottles or your vacuum jug. There is a mini fridge but for a cost of 3euro a day but we didn't use it. Did get a safe at the same price tho. The food was definitely 4* lots of variety and theme evenings throughout the week. If your not all inclusive, we were half board, you can have drinks at the table but have to pay on your room bill. The carafe's of water are free so just ask when the waiter comes to take your room number. If you do go half board and decide to go out for food in the evening you can have a lunch instead, you don't have to explain to anyone. Just go in and eat. We celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary while there and returned to our room to find a basket of fruit, flowers, chocs and a bottle of bubbly. We felt very spoilt.. So thank you Cavo Maris for that. The entertainment was a mixture of allsorts, we didn't stay in much, we preferred to go down to protaras on an evening but did return earlish sometimes to join in the fun. Won Bingo!!! The drinks are a little overpriced but all hotels are the same in my experience. The drinks during the day are expensive at the pool bar too, guess that's when its best to go all inclusive. But there is a little shop that sells cans of pop and crisps cheaper and down on the beach is a small hut selling drinks too. The beach is beautiful and clean, the water is heavenly after a hot day sunbathing.You do have to pay for the sunbeds there but if you stay on the hotel gardens the sunbeds and brolly's are free. Beach towels can be hired. You pay 5euro which you get back at end of holiday and pay 50c every time you want to change your towels. Excellent Idea!They even have an icecream van calls every hour, selling huge cornets for 1 euro. He did a roaring trade. On the beach there's a small harbour where you can do all the watersports from. The boat trip for 3hrs is a must, we did it twice. Definitely worth the 10euro each. Think its 14 in high season. Oh and the Red Bus is good too. but if you do go on it remember to put plenty of suncream on your face, arms and top. Its windy on the top deck and you get a gorgeous tan. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.

With pleasure we noted your, so nice but very correct and extensively descriptive review, covering almost every aspect that anybody needs to know about our hotel and the area. However we are particularly thankful for the excellent comments about our Hotel facilities and services that leaves nothing to the imagination. We greatly appreciate your genuine and correct descriptions like the following:
-The hotel is fabulous

Your comment about our room hairdryers is very carefully noted. We shall certainly give it the right consideration, although, to be honest with you, yours was the only remark we have ever had about them. Our maintenance team have been advised accordingly. They assured us that the hairdryers do have a filter and it is rather unlikely to suck air, they only blow it. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience we caused you.

We are really sorry that you have misunderstood our Mini Bar policy. As a matter of fact our Hotel does not offer the “fridge” facility which is usual in Self Catering or Hotel Apartments There is no charge for using the MINIBAR. It does not cost 3 Euros a day. The Mini bar facility is offered with a very minimal consumption obligation of 3 Euros per day (Equivalent to about one drink daily (to be shared by 2 or more persons occupying a room), and it is completely different than “rent of a refrigerator”. We apologise that our staff didn’t manage to explain to you properly.

Unfortunately, the beach is not the responsibility of the Hotel as it is under the authority of the Municipality. The Hotel has no control over the charges for using sunloungers on the beach. Nevertheless, as you very correctly mention in your review “on the hotel gardens the sunbeds and brolly's are free”. Indeed a few meters away from the beach, the Hotel’s sunbathing facilities (sunloungers & sunshades) can be used by guests free of charge.

The prices in our Bars are similar or lower compared to other Hotels (as you have very correctly mentioned in your review). We constantly check and compare them with the other Hotels. Please note however that they are also including of course the 17% VAT (expecting it to increase soon) and 10% Service.

Your feedback and your very clear statement “We will definitely be returning to this hotel.” will be the driving force for us for further improvements. Thanking you once again and looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future and include you in our “Happy repeaters group”.

We (my husband and myself) were staying for 2 weeks in September/October (all inclusive) and fully agree with favourable opinions of others on the hotel location, beach, hotel & restaurant service, quality of meals and cleaness of rooms.
But there were also some bad points we want now to address,
1). Overly noisy evening entertainment. The noise (sorry, but this type of music is certainly against our likings) was heard even when the balcony door was closed which precluded us to sleep until midnight. We requested in the reception to be moved to another part of the hotel but they did nothing about that.
2) Why the music for the gym in the pool and the screaming of the instructor was amplified by the loudspeakers? This we never could undestand because those taking part in the gym were not deaf.
3) Lack of lighting for the balcony - this precluded seating there in the evening with a book in the evening which we love.
4) Sun-umbrellas certainly to narrow from two beds.
Overall it was an enjoyable stay and we think we could return next year if located in another part of the hotel when the evening music would be more attenuated.

We are very happy to note that you fully agree with the favorable opinions of the vast majority of all our guests and especially we very much appreciated your very nice comments about the:
-hotel location,
-beach,
-hotel & restaurant service,
-quality of meals and
-cleanliness of rooms.

Rest assured that we are always working hard as a team to fully satisfy our guests and hospitality is and will continue to be, our way of life.

Constructive criticism is by all means welcomed and encouraged, being the only way to help us to improve our future plans. As a matter of fact, we are taking into serious consideration our guests’ suggestions for improvement and adjust our plans accordingly.
Our main concern is to cater to the needs of our guests, which is quite difficult due to the nature of our visitors belonging to various different nationalities, different age groups and/or family status and mainly having different tastes or habits about food & entertainment.
1) We absolutely agree with you that specific types of music cannot be to everybody’s preference. Indeed sometimes our animators can be carried away by the enthusiasm of the guests participating in their music programs. In any case our policy and instructions to the animators is to keep the music volume as low as possible until 23.00 hrs and reduce it even more from 23.00 to 24.00 hrs when everything stops and the hotel is completely silent. Another strict policy of our hotel is to change rooms to all clients who request it, for any justified or unjustified reason. Unfortunately in your case it seems that our Reception staff did not follow our policy. Please accept our sincerest apologies for that. We have tried to find your room change request in the Reception log book, but unfortunately, nothing was found there, although we have noticed a few cases of room change requests during your stay, that were satisfied... It seems that sometimes in the rush of the work, some members of staff (against our instructions) forget to update the log book. For similar cases in the future, please refer to the office of our “Guests Relations” (located very near the Reception), or simply ask to see the “Duty Manager”.
2) Water gym is considered by the guests as one of the most favourite activities of our animation team. It is performed around midday in the swimming pool and it lasts about 15minutes only. The rhythmic music is amplified by a small portable woofer, but definitely the voice of the animator is not amplified, as most of the time he is with the guests, in the swimming pool and cannot hold a microphone. However, guests can easily find a quiet place away from the pool area for this short time. The hotel has over 4000 square meters of sunbathing space, in three levels. We are again constantly trying to convince the animators to keep the volume of the woofer as low as possible and we certainly wish to apologise that the matter seems to bother you a lot.
3) The “Lack of lighting for the balcony” is a matter that has puzzled us in the past. Our Balconies had lights at the beginning but we were obliged to remove them due to 2 severe complaints about it. The one being that due to the location of the hotel, i.e. countryside at the outskirts of the resort, the lights were attracting a lot of annoying mosquitoes and flies and the other, that some people did not respect their neighbours’ rooms and had engaged in some noisy activities on the balconies. After that, we introduced an “on request” supply of portable sets of lights for the purpose. Obviously it did not come to your attention. Thanks to your comment, we shall make it a lot more obvious to our guests in the future.
4) We noted very carefully your comment about the size of our Sun umbrellas. We shall give it the right consideration in our future improvements, although to be honest with you, yours was among the very few remarks we have ever had about our umbrellas.

Your closing statement “Overall it was an enjoyable stay and we think we could return next year” has given us some extra satisfaction and rest assured that we always consider very seriously every request we have about the room location of our guest preferences.

We have just returned from a week stay. Lovely stay the staff were all helpful, hotel gardens lead to a lovely secluded bay. It is a peaceful location however you can walk to restaurants and bars in Protaras in 15 minutes. There are lots of water sports available from the bay.

Your statement that our gardens lead to a “lovely secluded bay” is very correct and indeed in our bay, although “secluded”, “lots of water sports” are available there.

The view fantastic, very clear as a hotel, excellent services, friendly and polite people, 3 hugh levels outside the garden with beds and ombrellas 10 feet from the sea, a very good kiosk service you from 10-6 o'clock 5 feet from the sea. this is the paradise for enjoy sea-sun-rest-food everything. I am staying in this hotel every year for over 12 years!!!!

I have just returned from a wonderful 10 days stay at this hotel. From the instant you walk in the reception area, space and calm is all around. Being a single female 60 something traveller, I was made to feel completely at ease, at once. The staff are amazing, the rooms spotless and the food fantastic, I now understand why they come back year after year. The entertainment was brilliant, 70's 80's music Monday and Friday and I actually got up and danced ! The restaurant manager introduced me to another single Swedish lady and we may now become firm friends.The fact he took time to make my holiday a memory says it all, they really care. Well worth a visit believe me. Rest, relaxation, beautiful beach and wonderful surroundings, the Cavo Maris has it all. Only trouble is I am trying to book for next year and they are full when I want to travel, so surely that is a recommendation. Well done all of you and every success for 2013. I will be back !

This year will have been the tenth or eleventh time we have been to the Cavo and we still dont understand how a three star hotel can do most of the things which a four star plus does. The staff , from reception right through to behind the scenes are all superb. Each time we return it is like going home, thanks Cavo Maris and prosper.

Your wonder “we still don’t understand how a three star hotel can do most of the things which a four star plus does” is something very common among our guests. Most of them agree with you that our Cavo Maris Beach Hotel fulfills and exceeds the specifications, services and standards of a four star hotel. Also a lot of our cooperating Travel Agents, Tour Operators and Internet Operators, have no hesitation to present us as a four Star Hotel, in their own rankings.

Pity really that the big majority of our very happy returning guests do not bother with reviews on the internet.

Stayed at the cavo Maris with my husband and 3year old son for 2weeks. We had a fantastic time. Food great, staff great, hotel spotless. Our little boy loved the entertainment in the evening and Sergio was fantastic.! Loads of sunbeds around the lovely pool area and the first time I've had a lie in on holiday and still been able to get sunbeds at 9.00am. Great time had by all. See you next year.
