I stayed in this hotel last week of september for 10 days weather was amazing about 32c we stayed in the new renovated building with big conformable bright rooms , the sea is just 50 meters about with warm waters .. the food was very nice ,especially Mexican night and Greek night , entertainment was great (Friday night fire show don't miss it) with Russian speakers .
The center of protaras is about 100 meters far and there is everything bars, shops, restaurants ,etc.we will like to thank Mr Christos the front office manager and Mr costac the hotel manager for their help... we gonna go back definitely next summer, I recommend this hotel .

Room Tip: Single numbers are sea view

We stayed at the Tsokkos protaras hotel at the end of September, when we arrived we were told that there would be snacks for the new arrivals in reception, as we had a long day travelling we were ready for something to eat, when we arrived we dropped our bags in the hotel room and headed down to the reception, there were no snacks just a few pieces of dry bread on a plate of what was left from the guests, we were not happy that this was the start to our holiday! The location of the hotel was brilliant lots to do, the standard of the hotel on a whole was poor, the staff were very rude and the rooms need modernising! Also be aware the hot water was scalding we nearly had a trip to the hospital whilst on our holiday! The food was terrible which lead to us eating out every night! Plenty of bars and lovely restaurants on the main strip and only a short walk from the hotel! The entertainment was shockingly bad, every night they had BINGO! And every night the entertainment was done with by 10pm! For a 4* hotel expected a better extertainment team! Next time we would go self catering!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in June. We always stay in Protaras and always Tsokkos hotels, but this was our first time here. For the money it was extremely good value, the hotel was lovely and we had a lovely room with a sea view. The hotel is just a short walk to the beach and most of the time we would go to the beach and come back for our lunch and drinks. The food on the whole was very good with plenty of choice, if you timed it just right the food was hot if had just been brought out. Always something for everyone though. The only thing that put us off was the number of Russians here! My God they were so rude and used to take loads of food and fill up bottles with beer to take! I could hardly believe my eyes. The staff at the hotel were on the whole very good. Brigitte and Peter were exceptional in the poolbar and always knew what we wanted to drink, even making us 'specials' if we wanted to try something different! As always when we've stayed at a Tsokkos hotel, we always have a chat to Mr Tsokkos himself which is always a pleasure, he always remembers us from when we went to Cyprus for our honeymoon. The entertainment team of Danny and his team was ok but not the best. I would urge anyone to try this hotel, it has everything you could want from a holiday.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the sea, as some rooms overlook the road and bars and I think they wou...

We stayed here in October for two weeks this was our eighth visit to Protaras and our second stay at this hotel, the previous time it was just me and my wife and no kids. If we come back to this resort again in the near future I would stay here again no problem, the food we found was very good, some times not to hot but plenty of choice,we tended to eat out every other night.
The pool was great but cold when you first get in. The four of us stayed in one room I don't think we would do that again ( to small for four ) ok for two. Great location nice staff but evening entertainment not very good, ok if you like bingo and karaoke, but in all honesty we only tried it a few nights. Of all the hotels that we have stayed in at Protaras this would be my joint top along with the Golden star next door but that was room only self catering back in the day.
All in all it was a great holiday never had a bad one in Protaras .

Where to start ???
Bought through Thomas Cook as a wedding package. Sold as 4 star, now seen as downgraded to 3 star on Thomas Cook Website. In my opinion 3 star is still really over stating the hotel and still giving a misleading representation. I can say that the staff we came into contact with worked extremely hard, were on the whole very polite and perhaps the only complaint I could make is that they became a little cranky at the end of the day....but who wouldn't when working 12+ hours a day ! I cannot say the same for the Thomas Cook staff that were pretty much non-existent and un-helpful.
The hotel rooms we stayed (324, 318, 312, 308) in and were offered (317, 119, 204) were absolute dire ! Bathrooms include mould around around the sides and overflow. Shower heads were also mouldy. Baths leaked all over the floor, ceiling panels were loose / not correctly fitted. The bin you put dirty toilet paper in lacked a peddle....so one had the experience of having to touch a sh**ty bin ! Not nice at all. There is minimal lighting in the bathroom...and for that matter in the bedrooms. Bedrooms were tired, shabby and out dated. There is minimal storage, so living out of a suitcase can be expected. Light fitting were loose and coming off the wall. TVs that worked had minimal channels....e.g. BBC News and a foreign music channel! Wall decor is damaged and shabby, including paint on the pictures from when it was repainted. There was evidence of leaks / damp on the walls / ceiling. We even had a chair that was falling apart in 318. The extra blankets provided in the room were dirty...ours looked like a yeti had been sleeping on it. Despite the daily cleaning, our boys still managed to find sticky sweets under the curtains. Air conditioning just blows cold air - well dust. Put it on heat and it just continually blows cold air as well....I doubt that it worked...certainly did;'t work in room 308. Out side in the corridors the access panels to the electric panels / MCBs are open and in fact the panels are incapable of being locked. Access panels to plumbing are also unlocked - we notice these things as our son's were fiddling with them. Lights are not fitted correctly in the ceilings and there are areas in the corridors where the carpets are threadbare, Fire doors are either broken, or wedged open with bin's / chairs. There are some fire doors with the auto-release...but we saw those open and not even in contact with the mag lock, thus in a fire these doors would not even close !!!! The communal facilities are poor (at best). The ladies toilet had a broken sink and broken glass mirrors. One of the cubicles didn't have a lock. Another didn't have a light so you were in pitch black once you closed the door. And yet another of 4 available cubicles had had the toilet removed and was filled with cleaning equipment and chemicals. The same can be said for the gents toilets which were equally as poor. Even if there is a ramp to get into and out of the hotel, there are no disabled toilets. The playroom is just a storage area, even though it's sign posted. The gym has broken equipment and the nice glass mirrors are broken / shattered. There is also a wire hanging out of the 240 V socket....which you can see even upon the photos on the Tsokkas website ! The furniture in the communal areas is also worn and tired. At least one of the leather sofas even has a hole around 1-2 inches in diameter. The games room is a complete joke. yes there are indeed video games but the equipment is old, broken and dilapidated - most of which is fixed / held together with reels and reels of insulation tape. The ceiling is broken with many holes. Floor tiles are broken and the plaster coving has been pulled from the wall leaving only the nails that were used to fix it. Out side, the pool is pretty ok, although the children's splash pool has tiles coming off the floor and the little fountain was never working.
Entertainment is limited to say the least. 30 mins kid disco, 30 mins for 1 game of bingo, and 30 mins for some act......when there was an act ...and it doesn't start until 8:30. Danny was brilliant and highly entertaining, but you have to feel for the guy that he is basically carrying the entertainment for this hotel on his own (most of the time).
Food is samey. We got fed up of eating in....basically as there was so little choice...not for us, but certainly for the kids. Generally I wouldn't say the food was poor in terms of quality, but it is limited and for all inclusive you certainly expect to have more. My major criticism in this area is that there was far too little plates / cutlery / bowls / cups / glasses / etc... so you either chose to go without or had to wait until some had been cleared, washed and then brought out. This also meant that plates were quickly (possibly bordering on rudeness) cleared from your table....Again, I don't think this is anything to do with the staff being rude, just a symptom of not having enough utensils.
Having said that, the most serious and worrying thing for me is that if there ever was a fire I believe that, having seen the hotel as it was when we were there, that there would be a serious and substantial risk of loss of life.
Having worked in the tourism and leisure industry and travelled to over 24 countries world wide, this is by far the most over-rated hotel we have come across. Whilst I don't think the hotel even deserves a 3 star rating, my issue is that Thomas Cook (and having done more research) all other UK tour provider over state this hotel for which the hotel in it's current state simply cannot live up to.
PS: Dear Tsokkas Hotel, if you want our picture evidence you are quite welcome.

Room Tip: Don't book here.
