“a world away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

Loved this village. Lots of skiing ( which I don't do) but so many other activities to explore, snowmobiling. This was my first destination in Lapland and found it to be very high quality and a great start to winding down. I am returning to saariselka in Jan 2013.

“Good for beginners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Bus or walk, nice cafe and reasonable prices. One problem is that the ski store room is down concrete steps and it is very icy and dangerous to go up and down

“Snow from Heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

This is the best snow Ive ever skied on! It was powdered sugar that wasn't sticky but crunched and gave you the support you needed when you were flying down the mountain. The ski shop was great about adjusting your tickets if you only skied a half day, full day, etc. They were friendly and everyone spoke English. The little lodge at the bottom of the hill has a quaint little fireplace and a full service eating area. French fries and cokes were great, beer was even better. They have a daily soup special with bread, butter, and a drink for a couple of Euros.
Its cold though….we skied March 1 so it was the coldest skiing Ive ever experience in my life but once you get up the mountain you are totally fine. I had no problem
They have a couple chair lifts and those lifts where you are pulled up 1 or 2 at a time but you are standing on your skis during the trip. I felt these runs gave the access to the best runs but the lift tires out your legs.
Runs are just long enough to ski hard and before you get really tired you are at the bottom, they are short but not too short

“ok for finland--for a day or two”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

with the vertical drops in finland, no place has long slopes. I think there were 6 pistes, but they are steep enough to be entertaining for a day or two. Nothing very challenging, but even during Easter there were no lines or crowds.

“Skiing at Saariselka”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

The slopes were good but only enough to last for one day skiing. There were only 3 lifts open and about 8 slopes but was great fun for a day and the cafe was nice. The Ski Hire centre were very helpful and it cost around 70 euros for a days ski hire and lift pass
