We visited the Evason resort in January & had an amazing two weeks. It is a 3-4 hour drive from Bangkok airport but we were picked up in a private car so slept most of the way there. When we arrived we were exhausted but had a wonderful welcome - cold flannels & lemongrass tea - so refreshing. We stayed in a pool villa, not cheap, but totally worth it if you value your privacy. The room was amazing, such beautiful furniture. There was an enormous day bed, the size of a double - great for lazing on to watch a film, or just chill. We had a butler, she was such a sweetie, who couldn't do enough for us.
If we needed anything, we only had to call & it was there in an instant: - fresh ice for our ice bucket (though after a while they topped it up twice a day when they saw how often we used it). - incense sticks were replenished as we used these all the time - body lotion, shampoo, bath gel, bath salts topped up whenever we asked, also insect repellent, far better than anything bought in the UK. We were half board but had as much bottled water brought to us each day for free. Outdoors we had an amazing pool, not big enough to swim in, but it certainly kept us cool. There was an enormous bath which was sunken into a pool full of tiny fish & lillies. The two showers were outdoors, though under cover - absolutely amazing.
Enough of the room - the food was wonderful, plenty of choice. We sat upstairs on the restaurant veranda at night, no problem if you book it at breakfast. Wine tasting was fun & informative, the little shop on the beach made us some amazing clothes at great prices. The beach isn't great, but when the tide is out you can go for lovely walks along the beach.
All in all a wonderful stay, the staff were great, special thanks to Jaew, our butler, she was amazing.

We stayed at the Evason Hua Hin as part of our honeymoon in August 2008 and to be honest our only regret is that we did not spend the entire 3 weeks in this resort. While it was an unexpected 4 hour bus ride from Bangkok, it was completely worth it. The service, the staff, the food, the spa, everything was perfect. One tip - the massage tents just along the coast are every bit as professional as those available in the resort at a fraction of the cost - it can be off putting to get massaged on the side of the road but stunning sea views and fresh fruit make up for it completely. Also, while this really is the ideal honeymoon destination, it may be on the quiet side for families or groups. Also, it's definately worth the early morning rise to meet the monks.

My GF & I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in February. The service was excellent and the accommodations were very nice, including a quaint room with a canopy bed. However, the bed was a bit too firm and uncomfortable for my taste and rather than giving us a room with one large bed, they pushed the two twin beds together - not comfortable!

The room we had we got a special promotional rate of 2,500 baht per night (less than $100), which was great for this hotel! The room didn't have a view of the sea, but the sea is located right across the street from the hotel. Though we did not use the pool, we did eat breakfast near the pool one morning - nice!

The room service food was exceptional, but high-priced.

If you want to get shipwrecked in an utterly perfect way the Six Senses Hideaway is a very good choice. There were only two negatives.

As the resort is flat, most villas have no view or aspect. After a week of living in an enclosed tropical garden courtyard, even an atttractive one such as this, it can still begin to feel at little claustrophobic.

The very hyped spa did not live up to its reputation. It was full of mosquitoes and the massages were less than Banyan Tree standard. Also as this is a green resort, the grey water at the spa is recylcled which makes the lily ponds in the spa compound unattractive.

Everything else was excellent. The beach shack for dinner overlooks the sea and pretends to be a rustic shack, albeit a rather perfect shack The villas are perfectly designed and have a decent size pool, providing that you go for the Pool Villa Suite and not the smaller catergories.

When a message is delivered it comes in rolled up inside a piece of bamboo. Everything at Six Senses is made to look simple, however it is simplicity perfectly done and as a result it was supremely relaxng.

The beach in front of the hotel was not suitable for swimming although it was still pleasant looking out to the sea.

The foods and service were of a high standard which was in line with the not inconsiderable tariff.

It is also good being away from Hua Hin which is not the most attractive of places.

We have been in Thailand seven times, but this was our first beach experience. Atmosphere and design drew us to Hua Hin and Evason.. and that was all as described. Attitude, though...was extremely poor. We arrived after dark and were immediately given a very high pressure 'sell' to upgrade from our original basic room to a pool villa a double the price. This involved being trucked around the resort to see various alternative placements.....while tired, hungry and looking forward to relaxing after a long day of travel. we did upgrade to the one up from basic room, at a very slight price rise, and finally got to a late...expensive....dinner at the resorts dining area. I must add that the lighting on the paths from the rooms or villas to the communal rooms....bar, pool and so on is just barely adequate and the signage ....not at all adequate. The pool and other areas are just lovely, although the library and internet access for those at the 'hideaway' are MUCH better than the resort. The spa prices were just ridiculous ...at least double the most luxe spas in bangkok, and NOT as professsional. The beach massage that I tried was not at all good, and really ruined by the passing cars and their fumes. Great place if you want to loll by the pool and soak up the amazing sun. But nothing else to do... and precious little info on what might be interesting in the town. The deal seems to be to get you there, and keep you on the property to extract the max in little extras,. Just an awful attitude that mars the beauty of the facility terminally. The night manager...remember the movie?....really made our stay most unpleasant. Once we had agreed on the upgrade he vanished and we waited around for a transfer to the room that took still mor e of our time while tired and hungry. Not again. Not ever. No matter how beautiful. We adore thailand and find the thai culture appealing in most ways. Evason just happens to be in Thailand, it is not a Thai experience, just a classy pushy beach retreat for rich spoiled travelers.
