Sossusvlei lodge is the "biggest" lodge near Sesriem/sossusvlei (if i am correct they have 51 rooms). That doesn't mean you are only a number. We felt very valued during our time (3 days).
The rooms viewing the "savanne" are the best rooms, so try to get one on that side as the other rooms won't have this great view.
Internet is only available at the reception area, and you need to ask for login details (but it is free and quick). There is always tea/coffee and cold water (and cookies) available at the reception.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and all tried their very best to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The rooms are spacious and clean. Only pretty dark and we had some noises from gecko's climbing the canvas structure during they night, which woke us up. Please note, these were outside and not inside. We haven't found any "creepy crawlers" in our room.
Bathroom was basic (for European standard), but sufficient and clean.
Dinner is great. If it is busy, there will be a buffet style dinner. This is of great quality and lots of choices available. The main courses (braai or stir fry) is prepared in front of you. And you can make you own selection what meat (braai/stir fry) and vegetables or sauces (stir fry) you want.
If it is really quiet they said there will be a la carte option available.
Breakfast is ok. Main issue is if you want to enter Sossusvlei around sun rise, then the breakfast area is very busy. Especially if there are coaches staying here.
The lodge is ideally situated just outside Sossusvlei.
We have done the sundowner trip while we stayed at the lodge. Please note that the description of the sundowner doesn't cover all. We very pleasantly surprised to see rock engravings and a place where our ancestors cooked and slept. Also our guide provided some information regarding the bushes and trees. One of the best sundowners we had.
There is a waterhole near the lodge.
