I have been eating in this excellent restaurant for over ten years and I consider my self a family friend of Lefteris and Sharon who run it. I am a professional chef involved in the culinary world since 1997 that I earned my Grand Diploma at the French Culinary institute in NYC. I would never write about a place run by a friend except If I was sure about it.
Ithaki has many stars. The location of the place is a gift for the visitor. This can be a trap though. A restaurateur with a small vision could only take advantage of it for easy money. This was not the case.
Ithaki team over the years is steadily improving their product and knowledge. It is with the simple that you judge the perfectionists. Two days ago I had some clams and sea urchins there and they were top. Even the mayonnaise for my fries was home made. These are valuable treats that you rarely find on the islands due to the high tourist turnover and the difficulty to manage a place that for less than two months it is extremely busy and for the year round runs for a local society of less than 5000 people with plenty of competition.
My prediction is that I will stay their customer for at least another 10 years and hopefully their friend for many more.
