“Would recommend to any one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2010

Stayed at The Panorama booked through Direct Holidays(Thomas Cook) 22/08/10 for 2 weeks. The hotel was everything we hoped it would be and more. We had a large airy apartment that was cleaned daily. The kitchen area was a small 2 ring hob and a grill/small oven combined. The kettle supplied was a typical tiny 1 cup greek pan.So I would suggest you take your travel kettle. We did ask at reception for a kettle and were given a large coffee making machine?? There are safety deposit boxes in all apartments and we did use ours although it cost 40euros for the fortnight. We didn't think it was necessary to get the safe but I wanted peace of mind. Air conditioning was in the bedroom and lounge and was free of charge. It was probably about 5-10 mins walk to the centre from the back of the hotel and it was quite steep as you approach the hotel but it wasn't a problem for us although even towards the end of our stay our calves still suffered on the slope. It was a lovely quiet hotel and I would definiteley return, hopefully next year. We struggled to find many reviews on these apartments and also reviews for Finikounda. I was reluctant myself to share my experience as Finikounda is a hidden gem! You won't be disappointed if you book these.

We stayed at the Panorama with our family for two weeks at the end of July. The apartments are set up a hill towards the back of Finikounda. Anyone with walking difficulties would struggle as the final part of the walk is a bit steep. They are around 10 minutes to the centre where the church is and the biggest supermarket and around 10-15 to the beach.

When we went into the apartment we were amazed at how large and airy the apartment was. There was a double in the bedroom and two singles in the 'lounge' area, a table and chairs and still loads of room. The bathroom was large with a bath and shower and a shower curtain. Toilet rolls were replaced whenever needed. Maid service was daily and towels changed every couple of days. The apartments were spotless! I've travelled fairly extensively throughout the Greek Islands and never stayed in such a large, clean and modern apartment. Air conditioning was in both the lounge and bedroom and included in the price.

We had a large balcony with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding area and sea in the distance.

We had a couple of small problems (toilet seat broke and air con didn't work at first). Both were fixed quickly. Reception staff were very helpful and pleasant.

There are 2 pools, 1 main one with a very clever sunshade on one side of the pool and a bar with sunloungers and a smaller one below which at the time had no shades and seemed much quieter.

When we were there it was nearly all Greek holidaymakers, in our first week there was 1 other English couple and in the 2nd week a couple and a family. This may change as the area becomes more well known, but we didn't mind this at all as we and our kids made friends with some of them. Plus, at the moment the tour operator we used, Manos do not have a rep based in resort due to low numbers still (you get emergency numbers), it didn't bother us and this will probably change if more people book.

Finikounda and the Panorama are not suitable for anyone looking for English food, as pretty much the only food you'll get is Greek. The prices when we went were very reasonable and the food was great. It was lovely to be able to sit and eat on the seafront and pay reasonable prices. Our favourite was Dionyssos on the seafront. We had a good pizza at a small Italian (the only Italian) on a backstreet just before the seafront and another one who's name escapes me, set back off the road in gardens on the road to Methoni.

The area has lots of lovely sights to see such as Koroni and Methoni castles. Voidakilia beach, Gialova and Pylos so a hire car is a good idea as the bus service isn't great.

I would definitely go back, in fact we're trying to decide when, and I probably wouldn't stay anywhere else but the Panorama.
